This store is extremely overpriced, not only for this area, but in general. For ONE single Marintelli's 10oa Juice is $2.99, which is outrageous because at the actual Martinelli's store, you get a 24 count case for $22 which would total 71.76 plus tax here. They do have a lot of cute things but I dont know how they can justify their pricing because I lived in one of the most expensive areas of Cali and their prices weren't even this high. They do not have pricing on a lot of items so I had to ask employees pricing. For a thing of 2 sticky note pads, nothing huge was $8, wow.. I can get a whole case on Amazon for that price. It was snowy outside so most people were in thick jackets. I was in a long sleeve tightly fitted shirt... but yet was followed around and watched by a couple employees. It was my first time to Ollies and I was super excited. Started to fill my cart up, feeling the Christmas shopping bug and holiday spirit. Then I get to the rug section to look at a few rugs. A lady a few feet away from me kindly asked the young employee if he could help her look at a rug because it was under a pile. He looked at her like she asked him to dig to China on his day off, then he marched over and said, which one? I'll jut let you imagine his tone of voice. She showed him the rug and this is when I couldn't look away. He said, and I will quote almost exactly, " That is an ugly rug. You want that one, you actually like it? She said, "Well, I like the rug. He said, Whatever you want, but that's an extremely ugly rug. I couldn't help myself, so I had to ask if they knew each other. She said no. Shocked, I said, "If you were my son, I would give you a piece of my mind, you should never speak to a customer that way. A few men that were walking near me popped up and agreed with me. What a bitter miserable human being to want to speak to another person that way. He just smirked at us. I had to walk away because it was too crazy to confront any further. I said my piece. I was told there were no managers to speak with, so I am here. It's a shame, because I believe in giving businesses a chance to resolve issues on their own before going to the internet, but they don't care. I was super nice on the phone and told them I just need to make Ollies aware of the situation so that they could speak with the employee about his behavior or maybe he need to go home and sleep his anger off. Someone needs to have an adult conversation with that kid. Either that or he is trying to get fired or in a confrontation. I was born and raised in East Tennessee. People don't treat each other that way around here. That is what makes Knoxville so special. They keep a vast selection of seasonal items, as well as a nice variety of art and craft supplies, often on sale and covering various price points. Their employees never seem to mind answering questions or helping me locate something, which is a BIG deal in a store with a footprint as large as this location. Even when the checkout lanes are busy, the register people take a moment to make you feel welcome. Yes, I understand that Hobby Lobby isn't 'local' and their corporate stance on certain issues is very inclusive. But the way I see it, is it's their business, and if I didn't like their policies, I can always drive an additional 5 miles over bad roads, pay more, and have a narrow selection choice for my supplies. I figure that every one of those nice people working at H Lobby ARE local, just like me. I like that I can bring my well-mannered dog inside with me, too! That gives me plenty of time to peruse the isles in order to find exactly what it is I'm looking for, or to find something that I didn't know I needed. And Puppo enjoys carefully sniffing all the exotic items while I shop. There's plenty of parking, and space in front for loading bulky items. Plenty of Handicap parking, too!
