Their selection of pieces to paint is huge, the glaze selection is also impressive. I chose a mug and we were able to sit outside at a picnic table on the sidewalk and paint. The girls were nice enough to bring our stuff out and get us set up and we had so much fun. We literally sat and talked and painted for hours! We definitely got our money's worth! After watching a 20 min step by step guide showing us what we could achieve in this class, we all got started playing with the clay. Not everyone was a beginner, which was fine! Our instructor had plenty of time over the course of our class to visit each station, help us fix mistakes or give us hands on instruction, if needed, and guide us to help us achieve our goal. I appreciated that we were able to "opt out" of hands on instruction if we didn't feel comfortable. That goes a long way for me :)

Agnes's glass studio is the opposite of franchised fluff. It's a living, breathing space of craft, care, and quiet mastery. Blowing glass is hard work with way more risk since you are working with molten glass. Agnes isn't following a manual. She has decades of experience. She knows what needs to be done, what you need to, what is safe, and what is above your skill level (that means some tasks are going to be done by Agnes). She has a deep respect for the medium and during your session, you will attempt to do the same. Yes, there are some old Groupon era reviews floating around, but let's be honest: those deals were coercive traps set by intermediaries who didn't care about the sustainability of small studios. Studios were pressured to offer steep discounts that brought in volume. That's not a reflection of her work, it's a reflection of a broken model. What you'll find now is something far more rare: a studio that trusts you to learn, to make mistakes, and to create something real. Agnes doesn't coddle, but she does empower. She's generous with her knowledge, firm when needed, and quietly celebratory when you get it right. What you will likely learn: gathering, marvering, color application, jacking, inflation, shaping, rolling, paddles, expanding, transfer to punty, and annealing. If you don't know any of these terms, you would do yourself a favor by catching a 10-15 minute video on YouTube before heading to class. If you already know all of this, Agnes may be able to create a higher level course around incalmo, battuto, or flameworking.

Signed up for the beginner's glass blowing workshop class (5 students and a teacher). Four of us…read moremade flower paperweights where we picked our rock colors, dipped the molten glass into the mix, set it into the kiln, rolled and shaped it on the bench, and gently knocked it off the rod. One person made an orb that the instructor, Agnes, demonstrated the glass blowing technique. The whole process from start to finish was amazing, a little nerve-wracking at times (working in a hot environment with spontaneous glass) but overall a fun thrilling experience! Agnes is extremely knowledgeable. She shared with us her studies in Italy and how she has dominated in a predominately male field. She runs her own business and sets her own hours, so at times she may not be quick to respond but was a great communicator in class and afterward when we scheduled pick-up of our finished pieces.

You also receive a drink with your experience. It was a 2 hour experience. The first 10 minutes was waiting for people to settle down. Next 20 was watching the instructor tell us what to do. Then she did it again but this time, going step by step with us following each of her steps. My first one turned out amazing. But then the second and third time around, I forgot the step by step instructions and my pieces had to be thrown out lol. But my fourth time, I asked her to repeat the steps and once I got that down, my fourth, fifth, and sixth pieces were spot on. It took a while to get the hang of it but once I got, it was fun! Same with my partner. We had to stop with 30 minutes left. 15 minutes was for us to clean our stations. The last 15 minutes was to select which of our two pieces we wanted to take home and submit it on their website. I understand it probably sucks to have to clean all of the stations alone but I think we only spent about an hour actually throwing clay- the rest was waiting for people to settle down to start, watching her instruct, cleaning, and selecting our pieces. It took me a while to get the hang of throwing on my own so it would have been nice to actually throw for a little bit longer (even just an extra 15 min) since we paid for 2 full hours. Anyway, I'm looking forward to see how our pieces turn out once they are colored and glazed. The instructor was friendly and smiley.

We did a class as part of a bachelorette party. Two stars because the space is cute, Angie (our…read moreinstructor) was super sweet, knowledgeable, approachable, and all around a great teacher, and the clay was easy on the hands. Some reflections based on my experience: - Through the communications, it was not clear to our party planner that the fee wouldn't actually be $95pp, but $120 once the mandatory tip was included. - It was a surprise to me that a third piece would cost another $15. Maybe this was communicated, but I missed it. - The structure of the evening, which another review lays out, includes about 30 minutes of clean up and paying via app. - The studio wrote our names on the bottom of each piece for us (so don't expect to do a special signature) - The studio glazed the pieces for us through a dip glaze, which in some cases was super uneven (see photos). - They do not provide wrapping or bags to take your pieces home in. - One of our pieces was chipped after firing and this was not communicated upon pick up. Another piece was fired with the rim having a strange divot that is actually kind of sharp.
