I've only used the Tukwila Station for Amtrak, not the local bus or train service. My family lives between SEA and PDX airports. Sometimes, I prefer to leave the airport at SEA and take a train south instead of making a connection to PDX. I am a person who likes train travel. One warning is that a taxi driver at SeaTac had NO IDEA where the Amtrak station was. He tried to google it while driving; I thought we would have an accident! If I go direct from airport to station, I use Lyft or Uber now instead. More often, if I stop at SEA, it's because I'm arriving at an ugly hour, so I stay at a hotel. The Marriott across the street is within easy walking distance to the Amtrak station, and they've got a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel for overnight guests. There are no employees to assist passengers, but there is a notice posted in the covered shelter on each of the two platforms indicating the typical track for every Amtrak service that passes thru. As of 2023, there is also an Amtrak app that gives status updates and includes notices about track changes. Here's a tip: if riding in coach, you'll probably board in the center of the train, so stand near the middle of the platform. Business class boards at the front of the train, which is the end furthest away from the raised wheelchair platform (which I have not seen used at Tukwila Station myself.) The shelters will keep the rain off, but they don't have doors that close, so it can be a chilly wait. Everything seems in good repair, though, and I didn't feel uncomfortable waiting on the platform as a woman alone around noon. I have no data points for later trains. read more

I took the Amtrak on July 3rd to get to the PDX Blues Fest. The train was delayed over half hr. There was an Amtrak rep. on the platform going back snd forth and told us about the delay. The Reader Board only had the schedule but was not revised to reflect the Delays. This Station has no public restrooms. There is a Bldg there for Sound bus personnel and restrooms for them. They need to provide one in case Amtrak gets delayed which happens all the time. The best part is that I could park in the lot at the specific Amtrak slots and leave my car over night. The only worry is car break ins. I have an old Honda with a tracker. So no one touched it. If you have a brand new car, Tesla or Kia or Hyundai or older Honda Accord (easy to break in and steal ) then I would Advise to just Uber to this station and Not Leave your Car there. It might get Stolen or broken into. My old 1992 Honda Accord was stolen in the ID but it was yrs ago. read more

Really Really need to add restrooms! It's kind of a major transfer station so it's surprising that there aren't any.

This place is super out of the way while also being in a central location. It's one of those places you don't pass on the main roads so you either know it's there or you don't. Huge parking lot which makes things a lot easier compared to the other transit stations. I'm willing to bet that there's a certain time where this place will also be full, so come early to make sure you get a spot. Sounder station with several connecting bus lines to the major areas. This station is also the closest Amtrak station to the airport. read more

I'm updating my review from a year ago... I live in Renton above the i405 S curves so the Amtrak Station in Tukwila is just a few minutes from home. There's no building or ticket office, I buy my tickets online. There are a few covered areas on the platform to wait for trains if you need to get out of the rain. I really like the fact that there's free short-term and overnight parking and the lot is very well lit at night. My favorite trip is down to Portland for the day. Also, work takes me to Vancouver, WA on occasion so I enjoy taking the train instead of driving. They have free Wi-Fi and power outlets so I bring my laptop when I need to get some work done. Watch for deals and vacation packages online. Amtrak also offers several everyday discount specials for kids and seniors. As I said last year, the service is great and the staff has always been very helpful. I really like the cars, they've always been clean and cozy. I like hanging out in the Bistro Car when I'm with friends. It's a great way to travel and I the views are so enjoyable. read more

Wow. The sounder station needs help. The attendant told us IN NO UMCERTAIN TERMS, she does not work for Amtrak. Only the sounder. Customer service is paramount, regardless of your employer. Be a concierge for the whole area. But hey, the sounder pays, therefore they count. Know the info before you get here...the track you need, the time etc. read more

A station that is for both Amtrak and The Sounder. Parking lot is always full (maybe time to build a better parking structure). the transit station has gone under better changes, I believe buses never used to go that far. I will share one tip, there always suspicious people about. My wife was walking from the hotel to the station (short walk) and a person in a van was driving slowly down that street. Nothing happened, but you just dont know with too many weirdos around. Be mindful of who's around you if you are walking. ----------------------- Parking also used to be high crime as a few cars were broken into or stolen. read more

This station is in a weird, sketchy area (as there is NOTHING directly around it). It's been recently updated, but I've got to say, it does not seem like much basic planning went into this space. Every time I am here waiting for an evening train I am either freezing or sweating. Tonight, I was sweating as the sun beats directly down on you as you sit on the platform. There are half-assed shelter things that do absolutely nothing to block the intense, direct sunlight. There is nowhere to hide from it. In the winter months, they also provide no shelter from the wind chill. Seems to me like a lot of money went into this place and not a lot of thought. read more

A stop for Amtrak and the Sounder between Seattle and Tacoma. The least amenities compared to the other stations, only 2 small covered areas, platform is built on top of wooden planks Parking Lot is also extremely full, and most of the spots are taken by van pool. I give this place a very low grade. It's not safe, only sounder station WITHOUT security. Also u have to walk under the tracks in a scary tunnel. Also not much covering to keep you out of the elements. Not enough lighting, no restrooms. The bus area below is just as scary. No cover for the elements where the buses are either. This station is a disaster waiting to happen. No matter if it's daylight or nighttime. read more

This has turned out to be quite efficient with lots of parking! Some spots are designated for Amtrak but I've not seen the lot actually fill up so hopefully those are used appropriately. Although the bus loop flow is a little odd, the passenger drop off area was a smart addition for both the bus loop and train service. The platforms are solid, well lit, and have plenty of covered area with basic seating. There's a self service machine for tickets neat the bus loop. Much improved from the old wooden platforms. Not sure if there are any other amenities planned. read more

I'm sure this station is like many others so I won't sit here and trash it, but it is very much out in the open and exposed to the elements. Lighting is not that good so if you're a women I'd make sure not to spend a lot of time on the platform. One positive thing is the area is very clean and with the proximity to two professional sports team stadiums there is a reasonable expectation that police presence is possible. My advice is to arrive at the station close to your departure time (without feeling too rushed) and use common sense and street smarts will in the station. read more

This is not a place I would have even known existed unless I had someone to explain it. There is weekday service that has an attendant thankfully, because I would be thouroughly confused by the north-south bound train directions. The weekend train service does not have an attendant and I will use other platforms in the future. read more

Nice station that is so far between so many points, nobody can possibly realize how close you are to so many things. There is a convenient bus stop here, but this stop is really only convenient if you work at one of the large complexes nearby, are staying at the hotel, or catching connecting transit options. Security doesn't ever appear to be around, but I've never seen problems with loitering or camping. Boeing officially bars walking through their facility, which makes this more of an alcove and less of a crossroads. They recently improved some of the walkways around the bridges, which has been nice, and there is plenty of shade to hide under during the summer months. There are also ticket stations here if you're needing to buy. Bike paths are also adjacent, making this a great starting point if you work in the city and want to bike home. This skips you past all the industrial traffic and puts you on the Interurban Trail with nearby connections to the Green River Trail. read more

Amtrak needs to do a better job of communicating to passengers IN REAL TIME which platform they will be using for arriving/departing traffic. It is SUPER confusing when you are there to ensure you are on the correct platform and the WALK between both platforms (involving a TUNNEL at the very end of the platform) is a bit inconvenient. As others have said, the station is super desolate/out of the way/not close to anything but there is a sheriff's security box there that has someone watching out for your safety (and there are cameras everywhere). I noticed tonight that there are LED reader-boards installed recently but they weren't turned on nor letting the tons of passengers there know where to go. They did finally enclose several of the shelters though so you are somewhat protected from wind/rain. read more

I'll take a breath before writing this review... You had a chance to get it right and chose not to. How easy would it have been to build a two level parking structure? This lot has heavy and apparently not by anyone making the decisions. The overflow parking on the street has all become "no parking" zones - which by the way I was ticketed at before there were signs or the curb painted! The parking lot has reserved security; reserved van pool; reserved register car pool; reserved Amtrak; reserved handicap ... this morning atleast 5 cars in addition to my self had to leave and drive to work because there was NO parking available. read more
