Cake was supposed to be for 20 people

I've only tried the cakes at this place and they are tasty but very very pricey. For the price of their cake you can get 2 a any upscale bakery in the city.

After a delicious dinner in the area we took a walk around the neighbourhood and maybe find dessert. Tulcingo caught our eyes with it's colorful outside. There is a lot of eye candy (& cakes) to look at and to drool over. We brought a bag of samples to take home. The pastries were good but a little dry and too much breading. The place is clean and the service was friendly. There is no place to site inside this large place. It would have been nice to site and enjoy the pastries with coffee. Just grab a metal pan and tongs. Walk around the rakes of bread and pastries. Some people were just piling up the stuff! The items were good to OK. The cakes looked good but that will be another time.

Boy this secret hidden bakery gem just gets better and better! I was in the area for work and made the short diversion to Tulcingo Bakery. This visit I noticed some different pastries so I grabbed my tongs and tray carefully chose only four items this time, and let me tell you it was hard to resist grabbing more of varied delicious looking breads/pastries. Kudos to the baker whose deft hand really shows as most of these pastries are shockingly light despite being pretty large and very daunting looking. - The chocolate dipped elephant ear was a deliciously flaky bite with a slight sugar glaze on it that was awesome. - The Banderilla was a delicate pastry shell comprised of multiple layers of phyllo-like sheets. It was excellently flaky and had a light sugary glaze on the top shell really made it just right in terms of sweetness. - The savory bun was quite the surprise as, contrary to what I mentioned above, this was the heavy hitter of the group. Dense and savory, I could best compare this bun to an equivalent sized piece of Irish soda bread. Very tasty, and a smear of butter (no margarine please) will make you feeling happy! - Cream filled horn was very flaky and light too with a fairly rich and slightly sweet cream filling. Not bad at all. You cannot go wrong in terms of value at Tulcingo as each pastry is only $1.00, Your biggest problem will probably be curbing yourself and having the self control to not buy one of everything!

a slice of cake on a plate

I'm giving it a 1 star because a no star option is available a total rip-off, 40 dollars for a pie completely filled with whipped cream

    pastries!

this is the first time i've visited a mexican bakery and they have huge selections. to start, grab a metal tray and tong and go pick your goodies. i got a churro, a flaky pastry with jam, and a banana nut muffin. they all tasted ok, not too sweet, so that's a plus! the prices were fair too, less than $4 for three items. other than pastries, they also sell some mexican groceries, cheese, eggs, etc. i found it kinda interesting actually.

    Cakes galore here.

We got the ginger milk pudding. Do think it's a bit pricey ($10) since it's an easy dessert to make but I guess it's all the theatrics. They pour the dessert in front of you and put a sand glass on top. Once sand glass is done, so is the dessert and you can even rest a spoon on top. The dessert is very smooth, barely a solid, and its ginger taste is very strong- which I like. Strong ginger but pairs well with the milk and good amount of sugar. It is a bit spicy but I like it this way. They do have a lot of other desserts as well as savory items on the menu. Intrigued by their savory menu and will definitely come back to try them next time.

Food (5/5): Sadly they were out of all the crepe cakes which looked really good. The prices for the menu items were relatively affordable! Shaved Ice with Mango milk (+$1 upgrade for the face): For the pic, we upgraded! The features were edible. The flavoring was tasty! Ice cream with boba: This one was my favorite! The ice cream was rich, creamy/heavy, and coupled well with the boba. The boba was nested below the large scoops of ice cream so a little hard to get to. (I wonder if they make the ice cream in-house as their fridge was stocked with whole milk!) Black sesame with rice balls (hot): This was my least favorite but still good. Forward black sesame taste, more congealed than I would have liked, not sweet at all! With tip, the 3 desserts landed at $50.

The menu is extensive, and every dessert looks stunning. I'll definitely need multiple visits to try everything. The ancient Chinese decor and dining booth had such a vibe, and you can even borrow hanfu (漢服) for photos. The names of their pastries are also very poetic. TLDR: The traditional dessert soups are must-haves, and the mochi definitely outshines the pastries. *Osmanthus Sweet Fermented Rice Milk Mochi 桂花酒釀水麻薯 $6.99 *** My favorite out of everything! The floral osmanthus notes paired beautifully with the sweet fermented rice wine, and the milk mochi was perfectly soft and stretchy. It's also the best-value dessert on the menu imo. *Pear Sweet Soup with Snow Fungus 冰糖銀耳桃膠雪燕烤梨 $12.99 ** This felt like a warm hug in the winter. Served hot in a traditional ceramic pot, it was nourishing with poached pear, snow fungus, peach gum, and goji berries. My mom gave her stamp of approval on this. *Mochi Combo 軟酪合集 $20.99 * I was a little sad they ran out of the persimmon mochi...it looked so cute...But the jasmine guava mochi and yuzu matcha mochi were both delicious and super soft. I swapped the third mochi for a matcha pastry (玉妃 抹茶奶黄), which was just okay. *Mousse Dessert Combo 珍寶格 慕斯合集 $36.99 These desserts were beautifully crafted, almost too pretty to eat. The peony mousse was my favorite, especially with the crunchy rice krispy base. The set also comes with your choice of tea (green, black, or milk tea), kept warm with a small candle.

The vibe is very authentic to "lifestyle" cafes I've visited in Chongqing, which I loved, though some areas (like the restroom) felt a little run down. A major highlight is the free Hanfu try on! The Drinks: I definitely recommend the traditional teas over the milk teas. The Osmanthus Oolong teapot was my fave, it was fragrant and good quality. In contrast, the Jasmine Milk Tea lacked a bold floral punch. The desserts are rly cute and very instagrammable but the flavors are fairly average Jasmine Mousse Flower: beautiful to look at but also tasteless Bunny Pudding: Very nostalgic! It tasted just like the White Rabbit candy Mochi Set: Decent, but the cream cheese flavor was a bit too dominant in the filling Come here for the photos, the Hanfu experience, and the hot tea, but don't have high expectations for the food!

I walked up to the stall and watched the cakes being made fresh in front of me, which is part of the appeal. The process was genuinely satisfying to watch. The custard filling is the standout and the one I ordered first. It came out warm and creamy with a crispy exterior that held up well fresh off the iron. The matcha is another strong option if you want something with a little more character, and the red bean is a reliable classic that does not disappoint. I was going to a Chinese New Year's dinner relatively soon and stopped in here with another person. As I was going to be eating soon, I wanted to get something light, though their fancier egg tarts/dan tat did look tasty. They have a more unique menu compared to a lot of the other tea spots, with plenty of smoothies and other juices. The cashier was friendly, though they did seem a bit discombobulated, with the orders taking a while. I went with the Daily Greens, with kale, crisp green apple, zesty yellow lemon, and NaiSnow's "gold award-winning jasmine tea," which came out to $6.90. The drink had a mildly chunky texture, and it was easy enough to drink through the wide straw. There was a bit of sourness, a bit of natural sweetness, and a very mild tea flavor. In short, it was refreshing, and I was happy that the kale flavor wasn't super pronounced and that it didn't impact the texture too much. The price point, in my opinion, was also decent enough, as it's pretty similar to getting a juice or smoothie from many other spots with a bit of tea flavor to boot. This was a flavorful and healthy little snack, and if I were in the area or by one of their many other locations, I would have this again or another one of their other drinks or snacks.
