I love Lety's Bakery & I'm glad it has been in Jackson Heights for a while & many years to come. The employees there are always very sweet & everything I've had there was great, some more than others of course (like the flan & rainbow cookies stand out more than other things to me). Everything I've tried so far has been fresh as well. The one important thing to note though is that the flan cheesecake is amazing (who even came up with that haha) & I do think the textures do mix well BUT only when eaten fresh. Get the Flan Cheesecake! End of story. I saw that they served this and suggested to my friends we check out this place. I was curious to try what might be the cheese omelet of desserts! In actuality they are two of my favorite desserts and they combine them really well here - the cheesecake is on the creamier side and goes well with the lighter flan texture. My friend got the berry napoleon and he said he had better, but I tried it and thought it was good as any I ever tried. They do a great cafe con leche here and most of their drinks seem to be good quality. There is seating, but they ask you to limit your time during busy hours so other patrons can enjoy. This was one of the better old-school neighborhood Italian bakeries I've been to in recent years. This little stretch of 37th Avenue often feels nostalgic to me, with stationary and 99 cent stores, Jahn's, and bakeries like this. It reminds me of what Hudson Street was like in the 90s. We shared some of the jam-filled heart-shaped cookies and the rainbow cookies. The rainbow cookies had a pleasant aroma from the raspberry jam and a good subtle taste of marzipan in the cake layers. I wouldn't have minded a slightly denser chocolate coating on top. read more

I came here twice with my friends from college and we arrived right when they were about to close so everything that was popular sold out. Ambiance was small and definitely a neighborhood gem. Service was quick. The first time I came I had the tiramisu and chai latte, that hit the spot. The second time I came I had the blueberry cheesecake and a chai latte. The cheesecake was very good. Not much else to say that haven't been said I guess. This cute little shop makes some great Russian Tea Cookies, which are filled with chunks of pecan and just the right amount of sweetness. Two other favorites of mine include the Pignoli and Pistachio Pignoli. I haven't eaten too many pastries here, but they are all decent, yet nothing special. Stick to the three items I mentioned above, but it by the pound, and you'll be very happy. read more

We ordered a strawberry birthday cake for my daughter's birthday, and it was delicious. The cake wasn't too sweet, and you could taste the fresh-cut strawberries. I felt like I was in a strawberry field while eating the cake. I would highly recommend you try it. I recently had the best flan ever at Lety's Bakery. It was massive. We shared it amongst 12 people at a party and it was finished in about an hour. At least 4 people echoed on their own accord that it was the best flan they too have ever tasted. Lety's Bakery has really set the bar so high that I'm not sure I can ever confidently order flan from anyone else in New York. While I live on Long Island, I can so see myself driving over to Jackson Heights to make a special occasion even more special. read more

Every time I go to NYC, I need to stop here for the lobster tail. I love the way they make it here with fresh whipped cream instead of the ricotta filling. May not be authentic but I love it! We order 5! They are big, but we had to get some to go since we were traveling home. They were really good the first 2 days, super crunchy and fresh. Day 3 it was getting a little soft, so if you do get them, eat them fresh, you won't be disappointed. read more

This is a quick grab and go bakery, with a 30 minute limit of sitting down. I have tried and enjoyed most of the pastries and their best to me have been the flan, cookies and cannolis. I only been to this bakery twice and I already can't get enough. The first visit I got the tres leche and flan, both equally delicious. What I appreciated the most is that it wasn't overly sweet. Todays visit, I've gotten the pistachio cheese, and lobster tail. The cream inside the lobster tail is perfect, just the right amount and once again not overly sweet. I love pistachios so the cheese cake is currently in first place for me. I'm looking forward to my next visit and trying something new and hopefully discovering a new favorite. read more

I happened upon this place via a buddy of mine that is a Jackson Heights local and a foodie. This small bakery/cafe features a variety of desserts and cookies by the pound. Service was prompt and friendly. Everything looked delicious. I bought a few cookies and two pastries to go. My kids ate it all so I'm going to go with "it was delicious". I've been here many times over the years and try to come back even after moving away from the area. Tip: if you pay in cash, they won't charge tax. This time around, I got the round Italian cheesecake ($19.50), a pecan tart ($6), and small Flan ($4). The pecan tart was good and the pastry itself was very crumbly even after a day in the fridge. I think the Flan and Italian cheesecake are the best things here and almost always get them. Flan is one of the best, if not the best Flan I've had in NYC, but strangely the small Flan tastes better than the big one (I bought one for a party before and it wasn't as custardy?). The Italian cheesecake doesn't have any fruit flavoring which is my preference. You can get it by weight but now they also have big versions for parties to my delight. read more

Their selection is not extensive. Price: $5 for mini cakes is a little steep. They also only take card with $10 minimum, so bring cash if not ordering much. Service: 3 ladies behind counter. All wearing masks and gloves. I was being attended and making decisions, the girl walked away mid service and then started talking to another girl behind the counter while i continued to wait to finish being serviced. I had questions about the types of cakes. Curt demeanor and inattentive service. Ambiance: it's a small bakery with 3-4 small tables that seat 2. Sanitizers on the tables was appreciated. Colors are inviting. Loved the chalk board menu. But over all nothing crazy. more of a pick up type of place. After getting off at the station I needed coffee and bagels. It only was a few blocks. Lety's is a favorite place in Jackson Heights. Coffee is very underrated because it's good. The baked goods are their main thing. Coffee and bagels go together good at breakfast. I got a cortado. This is about $2 and they can use non dairy milk. It had some nice spice in it. On display were their baked goods and pastries. I got a bagel. These are about $1 each. It only had the plain flavor, so that made this an easy choice. This wasn't anything that special, and the jelly was the best part. I might come some time again. It might be useful if ordering something for a party. They have good looking fruit tarts. read more

I had a mixed experience during my visit to this cafe. (Flan) This was amazing and I almost bought more than one serving! Well made and really tasty! Decent portion and decent price! (Flan Cheesecake) Extremely disappointed as it was literally a "Frankenstein" of a dessert. It was not a cheesecake that was flan flavored but half of a cheesecake with a half of flan stuck on top. Still tasty but felt a bit fooled purchasing it. (Iced Dirty Chai and Customer Service) First off, there are 3 different sizes/price ranges offered, but they only had large ice cups (the most expensive in the range) and then when I ordered it "iced", I was arbitrarily charged an extra $1-2 more (which is not listed on the menu). It also tasted so awful (like a spoiled sour taste), which I suspect to be the coffee beans. When I went to inform the staff, I was met with a minimizing statement that this was what "Dirty Chai" tasted like. No refund was offered nor an acknowledgement of my concern. However, if I liked the drink, the portion size was pretty great for a "Large". On the plus side, they have a really great variety of pastries and I think the pastries are generally pretty great! read more

Came here this past weekend to try some of the desserts , and they were okay. The tart and eclair had this really thick filling , which we didn't like. The puff pastry was good, fresh and super light. The cannoli was cute, but the filling wasn't the best. Came in on my way home after dinner. It was late so they were definitely on the end of day supply. There was a little bit of a line so that gave me some hope that the desserts would be good. They have a few tables to sit but not a lot of space for a crowd. I got the brownie and the Oreo cheesecake. I tasted the brownie it was moist and soft but nothing crazy not the best brownie ever but good and the same with the Oreo cheesecake. It was covered in Oreo crumb but is just a plain cheesecake. It's soft and creamy and a decent flavor but not the best ever. The price is decent for the quality not too expensive it was 9 ish dollars for the two items read more

I came here by chance and so glad I did! I was hunting for a place to get a birthday cake for my sister's birthday and came across this gem so I decided to check it out. It's a small place, but the staff is very friendly and kind. I decided on the flan cheesecake, something I've never seen anywhere else and it is AMAZING. I've actually come back again for another birthday just because it was so good. I initially thought it would be something in the middle, but it is really just flan and cheesecake on top of each other. But it is a perfect balance of the flan and cheesecake, and is absolutely delicious. It's a bit messy though because of the flan, make sure you get it in a bag because it will leak. Highly recommend everyone trying it! One thing though, because it is so unique and in high demand you should call ahead of time and place an order to make sure they have it.
