Located inside of Tangram, this food stall is a convenient spot for wheel cakes. I swung by here after dinner to try their red bean and custard wheel cake as well as their strawberry lime sparkling drink. I thought that it was both okay. I wish the wheel cake had a bit more filling and was a bit less bready. I also felt that the drink was very heavy on the syrup and overly sweet.

Great place to satisfy your sweet tooth! Absolutely devoured my money cake! Staff was also very friendly and helpful when helping me choose what flavor I wanted. This is also located in the mall on the upper floor of the food court!

Absolutely the best Imagawayaki filling I've had anywhere, such a light crispy shell and generous portions for filling. Definitely try as many flavors as you can as they are so fun and different. Taro pork floss is probably my favorite but the corn cheese, Ferrero Rocher, Thai tea with boba and red bean were also delicious. Service was friendly but it's hard to order on the electronic screen.

Friendly staff and easy pickup in the Tangram food court! Haven't tried their famous cakes sadly but got their Osmanthus Milk Tea which was quite good. I got lowered sugar (50%), but the drink was still quite sweet so I may go even lower next time. Will have to try their cakes in the future! In terms of ambience, it's located in the food court, so you have to prowl a bit for seating, but is generally a nice spot with restrooms nearby.

This is what we used to eat in Taiwan, so the warm cakes with taro, red beans, and custard bring tears to my eyes. Not too sweet and made fresh. Awesome. Must try.

This little cakes were a pleasant surprise. The top and bottom cake part is crispy and has dare I say a little crunch to it. I thought that one of the fun things here is that you can choose the filling that's inside. I ordered the classic custard one, along with a mango custard cake. The service was very quick, all of about five minutes or so as the attendant prepared the cake batter fresh and cooked it right in front of me. This place is located inside of a small shopping mall and there's ample seating nearby. The cakes were delicious and the custard was perfect consistency, almost like a firm pudding, but not too thick at all. I can't wait to go back and get some more!

Very unique spot in flushing! I picked custard but want to come back to try taro and other flavors. The person making each order repeatedly for hours is amazing. He needs a raise! There a lot of large to go orders and the bubble tea is pre made. I want to try the taro slush when I have the calories! Seems like a family business which is nice!

3.5 stars, interesting concept - freshly made egg batter mini cakes that are circular shaped to resemble money. Like golden coins. They smell and taste good but the fillings can be hit or miss. There are sweet and savory varieties on the menu. But they do not travel as well as I had hoped. I was not going far but as the counter person advised, these needed to be consumed within 30 minutes. I can see why. Two of the three cakes I bought, actually separated before I got to my destination. It literally was not closed. Top and bottom were two separate pieces. I don't think it was supposed to do that. It was my Oreo custard cake. Still good taste wise. - Taro money cake remained intact during transit, it was slightly crispy on the outside (edges) and soft on the inside and towards the center of the cake. The taro was a creamy texture. Very good flavor. - Potato, bacon and cheese was my savory option. It was savory indeed. It was almost a mashed potato center with bits of bacon and cheese. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be smoother or more texture. Either way it was savory. No complaints here. It was fun to try this new version of cake. I'd return to sample other flavors but the pricing is a little steep for the size. It is another novelty idea. But I might stick to waffles or egglets for this price point.

Thought was just okay. The custard I wish was a bit sweeter and the mango more mangoey.

Cute packaging I got a Oreo custard cake

When I got to the location they didn't have much of a selection at the moment . I ended up going with the Oreo custard cake it was so warm with a nice and soft Oreo inside . Such a great end to a meal we had earlier . First time ever at tangram mall and I loved it just wish there was more stores

I love wheel cakes/imagawayaki and was excited to see this stall opening up. The only other stall that I know of is Bearin Wheel Pie in Landmark Quest Mall. There is a 25% discount with Yelp check in, which they honored. The service was quick and friendly. I did not wait more than 5 minutes for my order to be ready. I wanted to try chicken pesto, but they ran out of all the savory flavors (it was ~5:30 PM on a weekday), and I was informed that they might be switching out the chicken pesto for the chicken corn flavor, so get it while you can! The Matcha Red Bean had a crisp exterior with black sesame on one side, which added some extra flavor. It was packed with filling. The matcha was light in flavor (not even a hint of bitterness), so it was a bit overpowered by the red bean. The Custard with Mini Taro Balls had a decent balance of thick creaminess from the custard and soft bounciness from the mini taro balls. Flavorwise, it was not sweet, though could use more custard flavor. Not my personal preference. I only opted to get this to replace my savor choice since this was marked as a best seller. I do like that the exteriors stayed crisp (I took these home so they were eaten about half an hour later). Overall, the custard-y fillings could use more flavor. I do want to go back to try a savory wheel cake, but the sweet fillings are not for me.

Matcha Custard Wheel Cake: $3.60 ($3.92 with tax). Cut in half. Soft opening price.

BLUF: OK; the better of the two dedicated places to get Taiwanese wheel cakes in Downtown Flushing. Money Cake offers variations on Taiwanese wheel cakes -- pancake-like batter shells shaped into 3-inch diameter wheels, with sweet or savory fillings. We visited Money Cake's stall during their soft opening, when their prices were discounted by 20%. We ordered: - Matcha & Custard ($3.60 soft opening price; $3.92 with tax): lightly flavored, like most Chinese desserts. The custard was lightly sweet, and the matcha didn't seem to have bitter notes. There was a pumpkin (?) seed in the custard / matcha mix. - Potato, Cheese, Bacon ($4.20 soft opening price; $4.57 with tax): this tasted like a knish in wheel cake format, due to the reconstituted potatoes, and was saltier than the other wheel cakes due to the bacon bits. - Matcha & Red Bean ($3.60 soft opening price; $3.92 with tax): this was the most flavorful of the three wheel cakes we tried. Money Cake does a few things better than its competitor Bearin Wheel Pie: 1. Money Cake has smoother custard fillings. 2. Money Cake's wheel cakes use a larger diameter for fillings -- about 3 inches versus about 2.5 inches. 3. Order fulfillment is much quicker, because Money Cake has a larger team. Money Cake's light custard flavors may be amenable to East Asian audiences, but a broader audience might want more flavorful custards. I would like to see the option for a stronger matcha flavor, for example. Overall, it feels like Money Cake falls slightly short of expectations set by the phrase imprinted onto each of its wheel cakes: "一分錢一分貨", meaning "you get what you pay for." Getting a knish might be more cost-effective than getting Money Cake's "Potato, Cheese, Bacon" wheel cake. I'm not sure I would try Money Cake's upcoming pizza series, since it might be cheaper to get an actual slice of pizza.

Soft opening right now, 20% off all wheelie cakes! Prices go up at the grand opening on April 6, when there will be a ribbon cutting. But I heard there may be other discounts. I've tried a few of their flavors at the first day of their soft opening. Unfortunately wasn't impressed. For supposedly upscale wheelie cakes, they need to level it up even more. At $5, regular price, it didn't seem worth it. Flavors were just too muted. Their much touted custard was rather flavorless. I guess it was vanilla but wasn't sure. Nice and creamy but rather bland. Matcha was definitely not for matcha lovers because I could barely taste the distinctive bitter tea flavor. As a matcha lover, I would pass on this. For an upscale wheelie cake, I expected more. The best cake was the old fashioned red bean flavor. Final note: These are probably best eaten right away, while they are still warm and crispy. Hopefully they will fix the flavor profiles of these cakes and make them worthy of continuous visits. If you like their logo. There are t shirts and stuff, available for purchase.

The dessert is very smooth, barely a solid, and its ginger taste is very strong- which I like. Strong ginger but pairs well with the milk and good amount of sugar. It is a bit spicy but I like it this way. They do have a lot of other desserts as well as savory items on the menu. But, this spot hides a really cozy space to enjoy some desserts with friends. Service here is pretty quick, and kind. I got their soy milk shaved ice and it was so good. Not only are they opened later than a lot of dessert places that I have found in flushing but their desserts are also great! This time around my friends and I got the Fresh Coconut Pudding with Golden Crisp Rice and it did not disappoint. Firstly, the pudding in itself was not overly sweet but had a strong coconut flavor. The texture was perfect in the sense that the pudding wasn't too hard inside and the golden rice crisp was a delicious finish on top. It added a nice crunch to the bite and also gave like a toasted coconut feel when tasted together with the pudding. The second thing we got was like a durian mango sago. I am a big fan of durian so I really enjoyed this dessert. The durian was perfectly sweet and custard and the mangos were sweet but tangy giving the dessert a little more depth. Although I only got two desserts this time around, I do want to point out that their shaved ice is not something that you should miss out on either. I have had many of the flavors and have never been disappointed. It is super fluffy and milky and just melts as soon as it hits your tongue. It is something that I order majority of the time that I dine in (they have a big variety so I just switch it up). The experience at this dessert shop is always great and since they have a call button for whenever you need a server, it feels a little more intimate and private!

Decided to stop by on a rainy day to finally see what's all the buzz/hype about Naisnow since there…read moreweren't too many people inside when I took a peek from the windows outside. My initial thought when seeing only several people in there, "mhm yes ~ perfect timing to check it out today!" Pushed through the heavy glass doors and stepped in. There're two floors in total, the lower floor to get the scrumptious goodies and seating/tables on the upper floor. Ambience wise is pretty much based off a signature light lime green concept which is supposed to represent "being healthy" and "plant involved ingredients." All the baked treats are contained in a glass display case with a warm light above to highlight the best side/angles of their sweet and savory tarts. This marketing technique is definitely effective as it would drive customers to have a higher chance of buying a tart or two and making the golden flaky crusts look more mouthwatering under the light. The ordering process wasn't too bad with only a mom and four kids in front of me. Shortly afterwards, it was my turn to place my order. I decided on the Bacon Potato Salad Tart and originally the Super Whole Lemon Tea. But then, I was informed by the cashier that I couldn't get no ice for that drink. So, I asked which drinks I could get that didn't have ice. Staff replied that only the Super Orange Jasmine Tea under Fresh Fruit Teas & the other 4 drink options under Light Milk Tea that won't have ice. Opted for the Super Orange Jasmine Tea instead in the end. Paid in cash but you can also pay with credit/debit card. Staff didn't have any smile (just a poker face expression). Not even a fake smile of any kind. He wasn't rude but I could tell he didn't wanna be there. Anyway, I waited about 5-10 mins and glanced at the LED screen from time to time to see when my order # would be called (trying to see if my order was ready yet). Got my orange tea drink placed in a single cardboard drink holder to be secured and made sure that it won't spill/topple over. There was a plastic straw in green paper wrapper. The tart was placed inside a brown paper bag with a see-through opening. Everything was placed neatly inside the green reusable bag. Took my order upstairs and hopefully would be able to find somewhere to sit down. Luckily for me, I found an empty table towards the front of the seating area. However, I was somewhat disgusted by the few long hair strands + pastry crumbs + a smear of dried matcha paste stuck/left all over the dirty table from the previous customer as soon as I had sat down. So, you can see that the employees don't really care about the cleanliness of its seating area upstairs since nothing gets cleaned/wiped down especially not the tables. Fine, whatever. I quickly used a napkin in my hand to tidy up the mess. Started taking everything out from the green reusable bag. Sure glad I did, otherwise I would've never noticed and just left with the wrong thing. Found out that the staff had given me the wrong tart. The paper bag somehow felt really light in weight before turning over to see that it was the signature caramel flavor instead of the bacon potato salad tart. Went downstairs again by the pickup section informing one of the staff that I didn't get the savory tart. Showed my order on the receipt as proof and gave the caramel egg tart back to the staff. He quickly said "sorry about that" then proceeded to exchange with me for the correct tart right away. Went back upstairs and my table was still empty. Made myself comfy and settled in. Took a sip of the Super Orange first and it was refreshing indeed w/o any ice and only 25% sugar. Can't imagine how many sips I would even get out of it...had it been filled with the "less ice" option, since you know that "less ice" is never truly "less ice" in reality either. More like half a cup of ice. Plus, the fruity tea had few slices of lemon, orange, and lime. But, that's the main reason why I would often opt for the no ice version if I could help it. It's poured inside a sturdy plastic cup. Just the right amount of sweetness with the 25% sugar + refreshing feeling from the citrus slices. The fragrant jasmine tea taste was clearly visible in the entire drink itself. (4/5 - $6.90) The Bacon Potato Salad Tart was stored in a disposable cardboard container. Now, this was how the savory tart should've weighted....heavy in my hand. My long lost tart...the symmetrical-looking golden pastry with its flaky crust! Normally, I don't go for flaky pastries of any kind so hopefully this better be above average for the money spent = worthwhile. The texture of the potato bits resting on the tart with just the right amount of seasoning. The chewy consistency of mozzarella cheese melting in my mouth. The tart was warm & not "straight out of the oven hot." (4/5 - $4.50)

They do however have plastic gloves that they give you and you eat with plastic gloves on. I thought that was a bit weird and felt quite barbaric. I understand eating something like Cajun seafood with gloves on but with pastries, that was definitely a first. There are some seats upstairs and it didnt feel crowded or too busy. I wouldnt come back here though since my family and I did not find anything to be spectacular or even just acceptable.
