I have ZERO negative things to say about this place. I was greeted when I came in and offered chips and salsa while i decided what I wanted to order. I love the fact that they have 6 different salsa that you can choose from and that it is self served. The menu has a large variety and I really love that they have quite a few vegetarian items. This is the first Mexican restaurant that I've been to that offered a veggie chimichanga. Most places offer been or cheese burritos/enchiladas and maybe veggie fajitas, while Tulum offers more. Best Tex-Mex food in Jackson. Huge fan of the food and service! We typically get fish or shrimp tacos. Like their Torta, their beef in other dishes is delicious too. Tip: If your ordering takeout, call in first, and go inside to pickup food. The drive through can take some time. read more

Ate here for dinner there nights in a row, was not a huge fan of their Burritos. I am so glad I tried their Tulum fish tacos though, the Tilapia were beer battered. So delicious. All sorts of mixed feelings about this place. It definitely is more authentic-ish than a lot of places that claim to be "Mexican" in the south/ mid south. I liked the horchata. It tastes rich and creamy. It reminded me of horchata made in Mexico. I enjoyed the rice but not the beans. I wasn't sure if the beans were infused with lime but I was getting some strange sourish taste (I don't think the we're spoiled). My husband was feeling completely oposite. He loves the beans and not the rice. I ordered a burrito with mean, rice, beans, pico, and possibly guac (I saw like 3 specs of avocado in there). My burrito looked amazing and the first bite was ---- umm---- I don't know. I think I wanted it to taste as amazing as I was imagining it to taste. I'm not sure what this burrito was lacking but it was missing something. I'm not sure if it was salt, guac, sour cream... something. I did like the salsa bar and chips. The salsas were better tasting than the below average stuff we get from other places. I'm not a tomatillo fan but their tomatillo salsa was flavorful and yummy. My family and I stopped by here for dinner on our way to Nashville. I had already read the great reviews so we were excited to check this place out. We were greeted immediately and were asked if we had ever been there before and if we needed help ordering. The restaurant was packed even for a late Friday night. Ordering was simple and prompt. Our total for our party of 7 (with 5 kids) was $40. Food was served quickly and correctly. Portions were a nice size. I believe it was totally worth the money spent. On the Los Borrachos Especial, they cheated me out of two mini quesadillas and resorted to arguing to resolve the conflict. By showing me an advertisement of the dish that read differently than the menu I picked up off the counter I was proved wrong. This act of misrepresentation was justified by them telling me they used to cut the quesadillas in half as if they think I'm stupid enough to believe that would double the quantity. For this I deduct one star. I'm deducting another star for the girl who's walking around on the food service countertops to fill the soda machine with ice. This problem could be solved by installing an ice machine on it or simply by using a ladder. As before, the value was great. I spent $40 here for dine in and takeout. I carried my takeout on ice in the cooler until dinner time. Lunch was great. The carne asada burrito was absolutely huge for a medium. The lettuce in it was not only a stupid idea, but kinda gross. The steak was great but the lettuce ruined it for me. I guess it is listed in the menu so I suppose it's my fault. The chicken in the fajitas was bland and dry. There is another business similar to Tulum across the interstate that I've tried and they are good, but after coming back to Tulum, I realized how much better Tulums is and how much I've missed this place. I was heading back to Nashville from my visit to Memphis and couldn't bear another stop at Subway as that chain is one of the few veg-friendly options when you're on the road and limited on time. So, I took a risk (primarily because I need to fill up on gas too) and pulled off this exit. For $7.13, I enjoyed 2 Fresco tacos, rice, beans, chips, and salsa. I always get a fish taco salad and they will let me get fresh avocado slices on the top instead of guacamole (because I am a weirdo who likes Avos better than guacamole.) Beer is cheap. Perfect!! We were driving through Jackson and put "Mexican Restaurant" into the search field. The first restaurant that came up was Tulum. It had 4 1/2 stars and was at the next exit. I didn't have time to read any of the reviews. Don't let the drive-thru window fool you into thinking this is a fast food type restaurant! This is fresh made Mexican food. Delish! When they said the tamales are made fresh every morning, that's all I had to hear. I had the jumbo beef tamale (shredded not ground) with cheese sauce on it. It was soooooo goooood! They also have fresh made chips and a salsa bar so you can choose the intensity of the burn. to I had a bite or two or the chimichanga and it was good too. I am just partial to tamales. If your rolling through Jackson or if you live there, you need to try this place. Well, if you like Mexican food. If not, this isn't the place for you. 7/26/17: Two years later and the food is just as wonderful! I'm not sure what all is on the corn but it is fantastic!
