Took my sisters and cousin from Oregon and Washington there today to show off North Shore dining! They said the boneless spare ribs were the best ever, and just loved all the dishes. All the ingredients were fresh! Service was so personal and attentive. You are the best! read more

A friend, hubby and I were in search of a different asian/chinese restaurant to try and Tung's came up in our search. We have passed Tung's when we've been on Rte. 114 but never thought to try it as it appeared to be more of a takeout restaurant at first glance. We arrived on a Saturday around 5:30 p and there was only one table of diners who were on their way out. We were greeted, seated immediately and given menus to review while water was offered. We decided to start with the steamed peking ravioli and wonton soup and share the following for entrees: beef basil treasure, kong pao chicken, beef chow fun and general tsao's chicken and house fried rice. The peking raviolis were pretty standard...had a heavy outer wrapping and we all tend to prefer the thai raviolis which have a less doughy wrapping. Wonton soup was good, not too salty like most chinese restaurant broths. The house fried rice was great, light soy sauce with fluffy rice. General tsao's chicken was tender and very hot (temp, not spice), the basil treasure was tasty and the beef chow fun was excellent. Beef chow fun is not usually on the menu but we inquired about it and they happily prepared it. The kong pao chicken was probably our least favorite .. lots of peanuts and "meh" on the taste. As we finished our meals and requested the check, a server brought over a complimentary green tea dessert. Hard to describe ... it had a jell-like, custard consistency but not a lot of taste. We each took a bite and left the rest. A nice gesture but it just wasn't our thing. Overall tab not including tip was around $79 and we had the kong pao chicken to take home and that was about it between 3 people. read more

I will start up by saying that the inside definitely lacks some potential that they could spoof it up a little bit. But the food was lackluster. Kicking myself for not trying Tung's Taste sooner as I had the best pad Thai I've ever had there! I loved their use of the lemon in the sauce. Everything tasted so fresh and lovely. I also tried the edamame which was very good too and the house fried rice (loved the smaller portion size) which was delicious. Absolutely no complaints about the food. Ordered over the phone and it was ready for pick up within 15 minutes. Definitely returning soon for more of that pad Thai. read more

Ate here recently with a friend, started off with steamed dumplings and boneless ribs. Both were some of the best I've ever had. Then we shared Basil Treasure which was chicken, beef, shrimp snd scallops with mixed veggies in a garlic, ginger brown basil sauce. It was very yummy. The only miss was our waitress she was definitely off that night and forgot to give me the dipping sauce for the leftover dumplings to take home. If you want really good Chinese food, you do not have to go to Chinatown to have it. It's here in Middleton! We ordered the following: 1. General Tsao's Chicken 2. Honey Chicken 3. Mongolian Beef 4. Yuen-Yang Beef ALL items were really good. The Honey Chicken was the first to go. Next went Tsao's Chicken followed by the Mongolian Beef then the Yuen-Yang Beef. Yuen-Yang was last only because most of the party couldn't handle the spice. Haha! So I had to finish it because the food was so good, it wasn't worth taking it home because there was only a few spoonful servings left. Literally cannot go wrong. The specials they offer, lamb chops wow out of this world! The homemade dumplings, the tungs rice, Mongolian chicken....MAI TAIS. The staff is AMAZING, owner is so so kind. It's tough to find good food in the North Shore. However, as a California resident, let me just say that this would be a good Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area. That says a lot. Get the Three Cups Chicken - it's phenomenal, arriving in a hot plate with sublime flavoring that includes a respectable, subtle amount of delicious ginger slices. There is a large subset of the menu that appeals to healthy eaters, and for the less adventurous who might shy away from the dish I recommended above, the menu contains all your favorite staples of Chinese-American cuisine and does them well. I am confused that this place has so many good reviews. I picked up some take out here about a month after they opened. The staff was incredibly nice and I got my food super quick but that's were the compliments end. I got Shrimp Pad Thai and it was flavorless, all the was around. I would say that there was not enough shrimp, but I love shrimp and there its never enough shrimp on anything! I found my self rummaging through my pantry and spice rack at home thinking 'how could I jazz up this dish'. The sweet and sour sauce that came with my crab ragoon was watery, very loose and again not flavorful. The crab ragoon was okay but not anything that stands out. I did find the scallion pancake almost enjoyable but it didn't make up for the other flavorless dishes. read more

We love going to this restaurant. Eric the owner and Kevin the bartender are awesome. We love that it is a small place with only a few tables that are kept apart. The bar is only six seats so only two or three people can sit there. The drinks are original handmade and so very good. It is not your typical pu pu platter Chinese. Their fish pot is phenomenal. Has some good spice to it. Not a big fan of indoor dining during Covid but this is our one exception. Yes you can get Covid anywhere limiting our exposure here is our choice. Thank you for re-opening and keeping everything as safe as possible. We go with my two nephews who are young and love the food even the spice. They brought us a dessert last Friday night that was phenomenal!!!! I don't even know what it was but I want it again. I recently found this place by chance. My husband and I are always looking for great Chinese food. Being transplants from NJ to New England we've found this search to be difficult. Lots of great Thai food but not so much for straight Chinese. Until now! Tung's is a small clean establishment in a strip mall along 114. You'd ever notice it by the sign so make a point of finding it! The food is delicious and the service is excellent. They offer both traditional as well as chef special dishes. But my key requirements rest with the hot and sour soup - superior! Spicy and not too sour. Lots of veggies and tofu. Next is egg rolls - theirs are crispy and fresh - not greasy at all! And finally one of a few favorites including chicken in garlic sauce, Szechuan beef, and or double cooked pork. ALL delicious! Fresh spicy and served piping hot. Lovely tea service as well. I just wasted my time and had an unpleasant meal. First, the place is so tiny and it's super quiet so we felt as if everyone could hear everything we said. The table behind me was so close, I heard the man belch. The other diners may have felt that way too because everyone in the room was whispering to one another. It was very awkward, I felt like I was in a library. A little Chinese music would have been great. It was clean and the waitstaff was attentive so that was a plus. But the food was yucky. The rice was supremely bland, and the dumplings were atrocious. Big thick doughy monstrosities served with ginger sauce which only tasted of rice vinegar. I've dined in numerous Chinese restaurants in Boston's and Philadelphia's Chinatowns so I am familiar with Chinese cuisine. This was not what I'm accustomed to. Perhaps there are more satisfying items on the menu. Don't know- won't be back. read more
