First you have to see the before pictures!! I met with Tim and told him my over all design was drought tolerant plants with rocks and bark and very low maintenance. I had about 20 huge moss type rocks that he incorporated in the design it was an added personal touch that means more than he realizes. He worked within my budget and came up with a design. On paper it looked all pretty but I'm a visual person so the outcome was above what I expected. I cannot wait for the plants to be in full bloom and maturity. His crew got to work and did not waste any time. They were a great team and I could not believe when he told me it would be done in one day. They cleaned up and did not leave any signs of dirt or debris which many times is over looked. Tim went above and beyond and helped me out with my sprinkler system and I appreciated his kindness and professionalism. After spending nearly two years stressing about our front and backyard renovations (which included a golf net), I decided to have a professional do everything from A to Z. My neighbor had Turfworks do their front yard around five years ago and they did a great job, so I reached out to them and explained what we were looking for. The thing we loved about working with Tim was that he listened to what we wanted, but also shared his expertise to steer us in the right direction. The attention to detail of Tim and his crew was exceptional and it was well worth the money. They ended up landscaping our entire front, back, and side yards, including removing our terrible front steps and re-doing them. These guys get the job done. Pure and simple. You always hear horror stories about contractors doing extensive jobs -- nothing like this over here. At no point during the project (building our back yard from scratch), we had any concerns that the job will go astray. Great crew with an unbelievable foreman who is a natural born problem solver, as well as a superbly skilled professional. There is only one thing to keep in mind: if you are looking for somebody who will put gopher/mole baskets on your one gallon plants -- it would not be Turfworks :-). Tim at Turfworks is a talented landscape designer, his brother Greg manages the installation. They are a great team. Turfworks has done 3 major jobs for us in Napa. They designed a front yard and installed it, it looks really good, neighbors like it. The back yard was done in two segments. The 1st one took an initial design and modified & added to it, suggesting a Japanese Garden approach for part of the yard (large by California standards). Also they added a berm and planted trees & succulents, plus lighting which is very cool at night. The 2nd one replaced a huge decomposed granite patio with travertine pavers in a Versailles pattern. This was a big job, first digging out the decomposed granite, then laying reinforced concrete as a base for the travertine. It really finished off the back yard. Our visitors are impressed! Also, their workers are really good, they all seem to be long term with Turfworks, which speaks to the quality of management. They wear masks, they are polite, they helped us with small tasks, a nice bunch of guys. Finally, the price was reasonable. We are very happy clients of Turfworks, we give them our highest recommendation. Several neighbors have used them too, with great results. read more

I worked with Tim and his crew to renovate our entire backyard. They installed a new patio with pavers, some new sod, and a mound with a variety of plants. Tim's design was on point and has really transformed our yard, and the end result was exactly as designed. Not to toot my own horn but the new fence I built to complement the yard is pretty sweet as well. The crew of workers were awesome and I could tell that they cared about their work, especially with the detailed masonry work on our porch steps. The area was clean when they were done and I got a good rundown from Tim on how to best maintain everything to keep it looking nice. I do wish there was a little more communication about what days the crew was coming but thankfully I was working at home most of the time so it wasn't an issue. We can not say enough good things about the team at Turfworks! Tim listened to everything we had in mind as well as things we loved and would like included in our design as he made a plan . I found that also naming things we absolutely don't care for helped come up With the perfect plan for us. I was so glad that the contours they put in the design make the river rock lazy river looking spot look natural as not like we had rocks just dumped in our yard. The turf is so soft and we are so glad to have that added as now we are mow free and it will look great for a long time. Low maintenance yet has a great mix of texture, color and curves. The paver work is splendid and they even designed a cover to go over the black clean out cover that blends in with the pavers. I can't wait to see this mature as far as the plants as they are the perfect pops of color . Seriously call them and pay for the design estimate to be presented to you . Worth every dollar and then some. We have replaced grass and sod more times than I can count over the many many years and are ready for less work and more time to enjoy our front yard like we do the rest of our home. We contacted Turfworks after the recommendations of some friends. We had three different landscapers come out to look at the work needed. We were pretty open to ideas, but knew in general what we wanted (low-maintenance and drought-resistant plants, built-in BBQ, firepit, pavers, area for seating, steps built up to our front entrance, and an expanded driveway. Greg came out to go over ideas and a rough estimate of how long the work would take and a ballpark figure. Obviously, since I'm writing this review, we went with Turfworks for our landscaping work. We had a designer plan our yards out, but ended up with Greg's designer's plan instead. Greg and his teams did an amazing job on our yards, I would highly recommend them! Before investing in our front and backyards they were not areas which we spent any time in, nor did we want to because of the disarray they were in. Now, we spend at least part of every day out in our yards thanks to the work Greg's team accomplished. I'm a winter person, but for the first time I am definitely not looking forward to it since it'll limit my time in the yard. read more

Tim came out and took measurements and looked over the yard, listened to what we wanted and since we didn't know one plant from another, it was up to them to pick them out. It was a very busy time for them and we had to wait several months, but it was well worth the wait. They did get to us early and the pans and layout of the backyard and front mount turned out much better than we had hoped for. Greg called and said they could start early and they did. Came in on Monday and completely demoed the backyard and front mound, dug new drip lines and drains, cleared and brought in new top soil, rocks and plants, and put in a concrete walkway on our side yard. The crew was very hard working and kept everything clean and picked up. By Thursday night they were completely finished and everything was picked up and working perfectly. First was a blank slate for the back yard as it was nothing but dirt, and second to redo the front yard as the builder did the bare minimum and it was looking worse every year. Both times I was able to simply tell Tim a couple of main features I was looking for (driveway extension, pergola over a patio, etc.) and then he would take those ideas and come back with a drawing of designs that won my wife and I over right away. This is the most amazing business I have worked with. Tim designed my 2000 SF backyard incorporating all my specifications and adjusted the design to meet my budget. When it came time for the actual work, the crew were just amazing. Extremely professional, hard working, and meticulous attention to detail. Tim tweaked my design for free, including incorporating several last minute changes, and Greg ran the crew to complete my backyard project in one day. I have never seen such a well choreographed crew that machine tilled 2000 sq ft, brought in several yards of topsoil, built two mounds for olive trees with large boulders, installed 4 espalier poles and wire for 5 meyer lemon trees along the back fence, planted over sixty 1-5 gal plants complete with new drip irrigation, spread 14 yards of lodi and volcanic rock, and also fixed several issues with the existing irrigation system. They were in by 8 AM and fully cleaned up by 4 PM. I have had several landscape projects completed over the last 40 years. This was by far the most efficient and well trained crew I have contracted with. And the project looks so much better than I anticipated. read more

We use turf works for our weekly yard maintenance. We have A LOT of yard so it requires a lot of attention. The guys who take care of our house are vey respectful and are always so attentive to detail. They actually blow the leaves out of the mulched areas and collect them up (seems like common sense but trust me most gardeners do not do this)! These guys are a huge step beyond your normal gardeners. They are always in turf works uniforms and aren't anything like your average gardener. Gregg (the owner) is a very nice guy and is always very responsive if we ever need to get ahold of him. Our neighbor uses turf works as well and feels the exact same way!
