Haven't been in some time and just went and was incredibly satisfied. First off, they updated their look and it is so modern, sleek and clean looking!! Staff is as friendly as always and food-made with pride and attention and you taste it in every bite! We started off with the mixed cold appetizers which consisted of hummus, babagannoush, haydari (yogurt mixed with dill, garlic, walnuts and oil), patlican (cold salad of cubed egg, peppers, garlic and an incredible tasty tomato sauce), antep ezme (cold salad of tomatoes, hot peppers and bell peppers, parsley, garlic, walnuts), havuc tarator (carrot salad dip)-all delicious! And their bread, moist yet crispy but so good! Main courses consisted of Chicken Shish, marinated chicken grilled as kabobs served with 2 types of rice-husband LOVED it and this type of food is really not his jam but he was in heaven. I had the yogurtlu kebab with lamb adana-fabulous! So much food in both platters that we had leftovers for another meal and so healthy but yet so decadent! Dessert consisted of their rice pudding which is a homerun and revani which worked together fabulously as it took some sweetness away from the revani. Cannot wait to go back-everything on their menu looks delicious and would love to go with a great big party so that everything can be tried and devoured. We're so glad we did, because it's definitely one of our top favorites for Turkish cuisine now. I came in to get takeout lunch to picnic at a nearby park with my dogs. Unfortunately the sandwich was dry and underwhelming. I called to say I think they forgot to include sauce and they said come by and get some and that it doesn't normally come with sauce. After driving 10 minutes out of the way the manager reminded me the sandwich was made correctly and not only never apologized but acted as if he was giving me sauce for free, which he mentioned he doesn't normally do. This was a sandwich consisting of just bread, chicken, lettuce, and tomato. This was exceptionally bland and difficult to eat. I've been to Turkey and sampled so many delicious mezes and sandwiches. This was just a bizarre experience to be given such an incomplete lunch, as if it were a partially assembled meal kit. I can understand tho sometimes mistakes happen, but even worse than this sandwich was that they saw no problem with it and only very defensively and reluctantly sought to rectify the situation. read more

I would give Turkish Kebab House 10 stars. Please go here right away! The owners are a lovely family - Selim and Hatice and their lovely daughter Dephne. They're very welcoming and always making sure you're happy and enjoying yourself. The bathrooms are amazing clean and really fancy with bidets. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio and inside it's huge and clean. The cold mixed appetizers were great! They had a carrot salad which was something I never had even in Turkey, and it was delicious. The Adana kebab was so good. It came with rice and bulgar, a large salad, and bread. For dessert, I had a Turkish cookie and tea. They have lots of parking outside in a private lot. This is the perfect place to relax and to treat yourself to a wonderful meal. What a delight! I haven't been since the change in ownership and remodel. We had the cold appetizer; deliciousness on small plates, baba ganoosh, laban to die for, and 4 other delectable items. A plate of 6 or 7 stuffed grape leaves (Dolma) and a shared platter of scrumptious, marinated pieces of lamb, (kebob), beautifully dressed mixed salad and two rice sides. Dessert, of course! Baklava two ways and a confection of ground pistachio and honey. Finished with a perfect Turkish coffee. We learned that they have instituted BYOB!!! Next time! read more

Love the authentic interior with many local Turkish artifacts and scenes. Our server Ferhat was welcoming on the phone and in person...super friendly and responsive staff (even turning down the air conditioning after overhearing one of our party was cold.) We got the grilled sea bass which was super fresh and flavorful...could easily have seen eating it a seaside resort. The chicken Adana kabob and chicken kabobs were well seasoned and not at all dry, coming with generous portions of rice pilaf and a grilled tomato. The mixed appetizer dish was excellent, with a variety of hummus, baba ghanoush, spicy red tomato and sour cream, and the bread was dipped jn an extraordinary olive oil/grilled rosemary spread. The lentil soup was unbelievably homey and comforting --we got the last two bowls of the day! Food and service were absolutely fantastic. We enjoyed sitting in the covered outdoor area that has windows in place now that the weather is cool. Pretty with strands of flowers and blue glass hanging from the ceiling. Comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Had not been here before so the waitress who was sweet and friendly gave us great advice on which pide to try and when we could not decide between the ground lamb or chunk lamb kebab, she had the chef make a combo of both to try. Her recommendations were spot on. I have never had juicier lamb. Gorgeous really. The pide was a revelation and the babaghanoush had this lovely slightly smoky taste. In all honesty, I was initially worried about dining here. The name "Turkish Kebab House" seemed too limiting to me at first. After all, there are so many other amazing kebabs, such as Iran, China, Canada, and the Arctic. How was I to be sure that Turkish Kebab House would trump Canadian Kebab House? However, I put my game face on, channeled my ill-developed Turkish identity, and ventured out to West Haven to get my kebab on. A brief inspection of the menu flooded my brain with childhood memories of Turkey, from Lahmacun aka Turkish-Pizza-that-I-ate-every-day-in-Istanbul to kofta that I would make with my mom on weeknights. I suggested the Iskander Kebab to my friend out of default, only to realize this was a mistake. I wanted to delight in the meaty, bready pleasures of that staple dish, but couldn't come to order two of the same dish, all but revealing how unfamiliar I was with Turkish food. Instead I chose the next item from the top of the menu: lamb kebab. The meat was delicious, seasoned well and grilled dark brown. The rice that came with the plate reminded me of that which my dad used to make, tomatoey and orange. All that was nicely accompanied by a mini salad (or saah-lawd as my aunt calls it), just large enough to satisfy and make you feel less guilty about the oodles of red meat on your plate. The overflowing basket of complimentary bread that came along with the meal bussed hard, having satisfying chew and a delightful saltiness. For the volume of fresh, delicious, authentic food, the prices were, dare I say, pretty great. The highlight of the meal was the unassuming grilled green pepper that came with the Iskander Kebab, which my friend bit into enthusiastically only to be hit by a firey wave of spice and coughing. I, as the idiot that I most certainly am, took a small bite to try and sympathize, only to realize I had forced tears upon myself and nearly ruined the rest of my meal (my eardrums still beat at the thought of this pepper). Possessing enough hubris to avoid admitting defeat, however, my friend took another bite, stating "my Chinese pride will not allow this pepper to defeat me." I guess that speaks volumes to my own Chinese pride. read more

We celebrated my birthday at Turkish kebab house this Saturday at 2pm. 25 family members and friends! Turkish kebab house was prepared to host us and set everything up in advance. They offered help selecting appetizers, and made the appetizers course look wonderful. We all ordered ala carte and every dish was delicious for all 25 of us. The first time my husband and I came here, we liked it. We like the place so much and it become our turkish restaurant to go place. The place is just small and can only accommodate few groups of people, but don't let it stop you from trying their food because it is the best turkish food I have ever had. They serve semi warm bread with a dipping made of olive oil, sundried tomato and rosemary. My husband loves it so much that now we have this dipping at home. I said semi warm bread because there were times that we came here and the bread was not warm at all, but still good. We usually finished the whole basket, thats how good it is. We always order chicken mix grill and the mix grill. Both of these orders are tasty. However, sometimes the meat gets dry but they tastiness of it is still there. Their rice is absolutely good, and I love that they grilled the tomato and brings out the sweetness out of it. Twice we went there and we ordered their pistachio kunefe (a friend of mine recommended it). The waiter always says that they have it and then come back to us and apologize that they do not have it. Finally, last time we were there, we ordered it again at last we tried their pistachio kunefe. It was good, but it was kind of sweet for our taste. Excellent food and even better service; the waiter is incredibly nice and will give you excellent suggestions if you're unfamiliar with Turkish cuisine. The Kofte is excellent; If you're unsure whether you'd like beef or chicken, get both on a combo plate! They're equally excellent. The white rice is particularly good with both of them, and the free bread is delicious. Again, the waiter will give you great suggestions, whether you're a first-timer or a native, so don't be afraid to ask.
