We were there for Yale University parent weekend and decided to drop in. It looks like an old style pub from the inside. Pizza boxes were piled high, so that told us something. However, the menu had a variety of selections. My husband ordered the hamburger on the hoagie which he loved and I had the tuna salad sandwich with french fries plenty of food enough to share one plate, but both dishes very different and very good. Throughout the experience, you could smell the pizza and you could see the line of people picking up to go great customer service and a very friendly atmosphere. We may be back for graduation 2026!

Who wants Greek? If you're up for it, then this is probably the place to go. It took a while to decide but their lemon-chicken-orzo soup was pretty great and a perfect starter to my gyro platter (which was basically a Gyro with sides, not an actual "platter" you eat with a fork which is what I was expecting). The Gyro was excellent with thick, crispy meat! Their menu is quite extensive with pizza, sandwiches, seafood, greek, and other items that is sure to have something, even for the pickiest of eaters. Portions were nice as well so you get your money's worth!

In touring Yale with my son I became super hungry and we knew we were far from the famous "New Haven Pizza" but we saw Yorkside out the back door of the library and decided to give it a try. Our server, Kim, was super nice, high energy and friendly. We had Caesar salad with chicken and a pizza primavera. Both were delicious. Highly recommend. Took off one star bc the leather on some of the seats was torn. Needs a refresh.

Criminally underrated pizza in New Haven, CT If its not the big 4 in New Haven (Pepe's, Sally's, Zupparddis, Modern) then its like nobody knows them and it's such a shame because this place is tremendous. On a Food Basis: This restaraunt makes a greek style pan pizza and it is phenominal! Cooked to perfection excellent fluffy crust with the perfect amount of char. Sauce is fairly sweet but complimented with the crushed red pepper i put on my pizza was the perfect ying and yang flavor wise. Pepperoni was charred just right. These guys know what they are doing! On a service basis: THIS PLACE was fantastic very friendly service, We were greeted immediately as we entered the restaraunt once we sat down and ordered, our food arrived quick. The sever also gave my friend's daughter (toddler) a small ice cream on the house for dessert. Very kind.

We stopped in here for a cheese slice and sausage slice while walking around the area.. We really liked this Greek style pizza. The sauce and cheese ratio were perfect and the sauce had a great taste. We ordered inside and sat outside at one of the 2 tables. The inside has plenty of seating and has a retro casual atmosphere. The menu is quite extensive and prices seemed comparable to other places. We would recommend the pizza and will be back again.

Stopped by for a quick slice that eventually turned into a small pizza between two of us, hehe! Very nice Pizza place with ample seating and lovely staff. The walls are adorned with pictures of many classes of Yale, famous people who dined there and even a statue of their family dog (?) Very cute!! Pizza was standard - nice & crunchy base that could be folded up and had. We had the 4 cheese one and thought the cheese was generous. It felt slightly on the saltier side (just as some people mentioned here) but my palette quickly adjusted to the taste. I did burn the roof of my mouth though with the first bite lol, it was HOT!! I think I'll be back again before end of my trip to try their individual slices just cause of how close it is to downtown Yale.

We've always been curious to try Yorkside Pizza, and thinking it was a Tuesday night we thought it would be a good time to visit - little did we know there was a concert at Toad's Place, so the place was hopping! We only waited for a little bit before getting a seat, and the staff really did a commendable job of handling the volume that they had. Definitely a well-oiled machine here! We just did a cheese pizza and chocolate milkshake, and it really hit the spot! Definitely one of the best Greek style pizzas I've had, and it was a nice change for the typical apizza style in the area. The restaurant had a classic pizza parlor feel in here that we liked! We'll be back!

The crust, flavor in each bite, the variety of toppings, and everything you want in a slice of pizza was there. It is a busy spot, but they definitely had the people to keep things pushing and our waitress was still attentive to us. We ordered a pizza with onions and hot cherry peppers as well as a margarita pizza (if a pizza place can't do a cheese pizza or margarita right, not the spot to eat). The ONLY problem I had was something was falling off the napkins, not sure what it was, and we didn't notice it until the end. It seemed to be from only one stack of napkins, but couldn't tell since it was too late by the time we noticed. If they're cheap quality napkins, definitely should replace, especially because it could have fallen all over the pizza. Again, that was the only downside, but life will go on nevertheless - and it's in a fight to take the #1 spot for pizza place in my book.

We arrived on a Monday around peak dinner time, but there was essentially no wait (apparently uncommon according to my friend -- just a delightful consequence of dining at a college town during the summer). We split a medium pizza (1/2 elote mexican street corn and 1/2 bbq brisket), proving to be more than enough for two plus a more than ample amount of leftovers. Recently, I've gravitated toward thinner pizzas, a far cry from the typical Detroit (foccacia-esque) style pizzas I used to prefer, and BAR's pizza is akin to a flatbread yet very thin, another fallen angel to the GLP's. The undercarriage boasts a brilliant crust, almost cracker-like. However, it should be noted that the pizza is indulgent all the same. The elote pizza is quite possibly the most memorable, unique pizza I've ever had; it arrives almost crimson-red with a generous layer of corn and takis atop. It's still incredibly well balanced despite the hodgepodge of varied toppings. It's hard to pick a favorite between this and the bbq brisket though; while one is incredibly unique the other is simply sumptuous, nothing pedestrian about either of the two. The service is also impeccable, almost rivaling that of southern hospitality. I always thought Californians were friendly but something is in the air every time I visit New Haven. Incredible!

This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot. Excellent pizza. Super friendly staff

Kwok has more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Some of the other restaurants he has opened include Sweet Basil in Fairfield, Pink Sumo Sushi & Sake Cafe in Westport, and Eat Noodle in Bridgeport. Kwok and Nguyen's latest venture opened at the Connecticut Post Mall in a restaurant space that was previously home to Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar, which specialized in tavern-style pizzas cooked in a cast-iron skillet. 8 Thousand Pizza offers this same style of pizza, but what sets them apart from the previous pizzeria is that they also offer self-pouring technology, which became legalized in Connecticut in 2021. The food menu features two dozen tavern-style pizzas as well as burgers, wings, fries, salads and soups. Through the use of a supplied electronic bracelet, customers can self-pour their own beverage from a selection of 28 craft beer taps and 6 wine taps. There's a two-pint or 32-ounce limit for the self-pours. I recently visited 8 Thousand Pizza for dinner. I had previously visited the space when it was Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar and was sad to hear that they moved. However, this new business concept of a tavern-style pizzeria with self-pouring taps sounded very interesting to me. This was actually my first visit to a self-pouring taproom, as these types of establishments only just began opening in the state in the last few years. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the "Grandma's Tomato Pizza" (fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, roasted garlic, tomatoes and EVOO) and the "Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza" (tomato sauce, pepperoni, hot honey sauce and mozzarella cheese). The latter happens to be 8 Thousand's signature pizza. Both pizzas had crust so thin that it's almost cracker like; they didn't flop at all. They were super crispy with excellent sauce and toppings. I honestly can't decide which one I liked better; they were both very good. During my visit, I enjoyed some self-pours of Grey Sail Brewing's "Captain's Daughter" (Double New England IPA) and New Park Brewing's "Cloudscape" (American IPA). Delicious pizza with craft beer is always an excellent pairing! I had a really nice experience at 8 Thousand Pizza and I hope to return with my family.
