Adelphi's is such a relaxed and homey diner experience. Everyone is kind and friendly and I never have felt rushed nor have I ever felt I've had to wait for service They have a great menu. A lot of choices but not to a ridiculous level like some diners. Their specials are always a win. I love the stuffed sole with crabmeat stuffing. This diner was a one and done for me. The waitress was an absolute gem; The highlight of the visit. I ordered a short stack of French Toast. The presentation was terrible (see pics) and it wasn't hot off the grill. My side of corned beef hash had to be returned for reheating. It was uncomfortably cold for my dining pleasure. My husband ordered a pastrami deluxe. He should have been yelling "where's the meat". Had some interesting antiques on display but the decor was very old and dark. read more

This cute diner/restaurant/cafe is the Alpha & Omega baby!! Such a sweet, friendly vibe! I was warmly greeted, seated, and "meeted"!! The owner came and introduced himself and gave me a mini history of his restaurant career! He used to own the Neptune Restaurant. I popped in on Thanksgiving day and it was mildly busy. The servers were all so accommodating, especially my darling lady, Jess, what a perky, lovely person! My goodness... the bakery is incredible! While I was there, people were lined up snapping up all the desserts! So if you like sweets, you'd better hurry. One of the owners (?) even gave a couple some free pastries! So nice! The cakes are beautiful and the pies are amazing! I had a slice of pumpkin pie with a nice cuppa Earl Grey tea, and I was so enamored by this "gourd"geous and scrumptious pie, that I ended up getting a whole pie to bring home! The folks here couldn't be more accommodating and even allowed me a special favor involving whipped cream!! Shhhh, it's our little secret!! Back to the pie... it's creamy yet dense, a captivating crust, with the pumpkin filling not too sweet, just how I love it!! Wow! I'll be craving this pie for eons!! Just like my mom used to make! I also picked up a box of shortbread cookies - everything here is homemade! They are opened til 3 today, but usually opened for breakfast, lunch & dinner! First thing I noticed upon entering the restaurant it was very spacious, and clean with both booths and tables. Food here was very disappointing. My friend and I both ordered bacon omelettes with a side order of homemade corn beef hash. They are very skimpy with the bacon in their omelettes. More like bacon bits instead of strips of bacon cut up. The corn beef hash was mostly potato with some corn beef mixed in. It started out to have flavor but quickly disappeared. Ok looking for a breakfast place after our normal place was packed, so here we go wife order 2 eggs over hard and corned beef hash, corn beef hash tasted awful, it was rancid, eggs were over easy and they offered to put them back on the grill. My order was ok other than the potatoes in the home fries was rancid. My daughter ordered a waffle , the waffle was gross, dry like crumbing when cutting it dry, with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Coffee had no flavor which was 3.00 each total bill was 50.00 and they comp'd us the has and did not ask why we did not eat anything else. Was coming here for a while before the pandemic but stopped after lockdown. This was one of our first times back and we were happy to find the service and food were just as good as it was before! I got an omelette which was very good, and the hash browns that came with it were also quite nice. Nice and quiet save a few kids when we got there and our server was attentive and amazing. On a thrip through north haven we decided to stop in here. First thing I can say it's much nicer on the inside then the outside would lead you to believe. I had the gyro with disco fries. The kid eventually had a burger and the wife the sandwich's. All the food was amazing and the waitress a true sweetheart I would love to give her a shout out but I forgot her name. A solid diner. The food is good, and there are a lot of options. It is mostly standard diner fare. I always get triple deckers and a soup. I'm always satisfied, and happy with my experience. I ordered a cheeseburger cooked medium rare, and it was definitely well done. I ate it anyways because the management was already busy criticizing his employees, and I am also not that nitpicky at these types of casual places where I already know the food won't be spectacular before I order. No expectations and no major disappointments. With that said I'll probably still return in the future. The food was generally fine and edible. This place is conveniently located for my weekday schedule. Much like Connecticut as a whole, this place is not exactly memorable, but it will do. REALLY happy with my Adelphia experience this weekend (see: my review for Athena Diner II). Needless to say, they were happy to seat a table of 6 on very short notice. The food was amazing (I had the tomato omelette with Swiss cheese) and the prices were good. Apparently these are the people who used to run the Neptune house, which was our favorite haunt in high school. The lights over the table seem to be the same, although the nautical theme is much more subtle. I will definitely be back - this is our new go-to diner in town! read more

This is the first time I have eaten at Adelphia Cafe. I love going to new restaurants and trying them out. But the food I was served did not live up to my expectations. My family had gone to this restaurant a couple months ago and remembered it as a delicious experience. As I walked into the restaurant I was welcomed with lovely decor and cute pictures of family. There was a decent amount of people eating during the time I was there. I looked at my menu hoping to be as excited when I first walked in. But to my surprise, it was not just all Greek Food, the menu was full of different dishes for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. This does not mean it was necessarily a good thing. I ordered a French Onion Soup to start off for appetizers. When it first came it was very hot and I was so excited. These juicy aromas started flowing around me. Bad news is, I did not enjoy the soup. I was very hungry and very disappointed. The broth was one of the worst I have ever had. I can't even believe they would call it a French Onion Soup. For the main course, I ordered Chicken Tenders with Fries. Yeah I know, who gets Chicken Tenders? I was so disgusted by the French Onion Soup that I was worried. When the food came, it was steaming (I mean STEAMING) hot! I was actually excited to try it. But reality hit me right in the face, the Chicken tasted so rubbery and just like any Chucky Cheese food. The only thing I could applaud is the Fries. The fries had enough salt and tasted delicious. My family ordered some breakfast and my sister ordered the Turkey Club. She enjoyed the Turkey Club but said that it was the worst one she has had (she's been here 6 times) at the restaurant. My mom got some breakfast. She said that enjoyed it but wasn't the best. Overall the service was pretty good. The worst part about my whole experience though, was the bathrooms. I had to wait a whole hour to go into the bathroom. There were two bathrooms: A ladies room and a men's room. The ladies restroom had many stalls and etc. The men's room on the other hand, had only one toilet, meaning that only one person could be there at a time. I will not be coming back here again due to these reasons. read more

Visited Adelphia Cafe today for breakfast. We were a small group for Father's Day and figured give this place a shot. Overall it was ok. The two children in the group ordered blueberry pancakes and a waffle with strawberries. Both looked good and the children seem to enjoy. I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs, home fries and toast. Hash was pretty decent if not a bit mushy. Lots of flavor there. Same with the home fries. Great flavor and cooked really well. Overall nothing really stood out. About par for the course. A negative was with the omelets . They did not come with any type of cheese. That was extra. Omelets need cheese and should not be extra on top of the price of the omelet. This really was my only complaint about the restaurant. Prices were fairly standard and staff very friendly. In the end I'd be happy to come back to Adelphia for breakfast or lunch if I'm in the area. This is a pretty solid little diner. I have been here a few times with mediocre service. The first time, decent. Second time- almost trainwreck because the waitress seemed to be a little aloof. Overall, decent food at a good price. Nice seating and floor plan. I love the desserts. I have had the cheesecake and the rice pudding both of which were great. The tuna salad is very fresh a well.
