They have a project manager that is there everyday on site keeping the work moving forward. They also have a person back in the office that communicates schedules and lets you know via text message and/or website when a subcontractor/worker is going to arrive on site. It's like having two PM's. One that does on site (operational) support and one that does the scheduling and communications. Very effective and great if you want to keep informed about what is happening with your project. Two examples of what kind of organization they are: 1) Illness - About 2 weeks into our remodel, both of us got Covid. They shut down work immediately (at our request) and resumed without delay the day after we called them back. They went out of their way to make sure they didn't delay on the project. By the end of the work, we were only about 2 weeks behind. This was mostly due to delays in getting materials, not worker availability. 2) After project support - A couple of days after the entire project was completed, we had a huge water leak in our ceiling. It damaged a big section of wall that had been re-textured and painted. We called Turn Key and they sent out their guys to come fix our wall and make it match the rest of the work. DId we pay extra for this? Yes we did. However, they coordinated a job that wasn't part of the original contract and made sure we got the same guy out to do the work (shoutout to Luis the drywall guy). I recently was looking for a General Contractor to remodel some of our bathrooms in our house. I was given this information of Turn Key Remodel by someone who used to work with them. This person told me that they did good work. I set up an appointment with Turn Key Remodel and the office staff told me that I would be meeting with Mark. On the day of the walk thru, I actually met with Sam the estimator. I gave Sam the specs (layout on the wall dimension & floors) on what we wanted, but Sam made no notes on it which concerned me. We finished up our walkthru and Sam told me the I did not need to get a building permit unless I wanted to. This really concerned me. I told Sam under no circumstances was I not going to do that, but I actually had the building permit already. Sam started to backtrack and I couldn't wait to get him out of the house. When the bid actually came in, I was surprised but there were items that had TBA on them. I gave Turn Key Remodel the specs of the bathroom, how could you not figure that out, but you put TBA. We would have chose Turn Key Remodel, however, another company put their bid together better and with the comment of not needing a building permit concerned me with the kind of work that they may do. Maybe the situation would have been different if Mark was out here, but then again I won't know. read more

After that It took couple weeks to start because the industry was really busy but Mark always communicate with me and keep me updated. He is very responsive whenever I email or texted him. We've had a horrendously bad experience with this company. Extremely poor organization of our project and many empty promises. This company is constantly looking to shift the blame. Owner Mark Apicella blames others and says his subs are making him look bad. Umm, you hired them. We did not see Mark unless we insisted he come out. We had problems with nearly every aspect of our project and yet Mark, with whom we shook hands and had a contract with, would only come out to see what was going on if we insisted. We just had a major flood from a reverse osmosis faucet that his sub installed. Luckily, my husband was there and we were able to turn off the water and stop major damage from happening to our brand new cabinets and floor. We shared photos and video with Mark. His installer had blocked a drainage hole with putty and that's what caused the flood. His initial response was Turnkey is not responsible. When my husband pointed out they installed it, he backtracked and said Turnkey was. They offered to send someone else out to fix it. No, thanks. At this point, we are hiring outside people to fix their work because we don't trust them to come back. I am giving them two stars only because just getting new stuff (appliances, flooring, cabinetry) has been a huge facelift for our house. Just don't look too closely! Their markups are outrageous too. We expected some markup because we thought Turnkey would be managing things and making our life easy. What a joke! First, we did all the managing and second, their mark up was nearly 50% on things like painting. We had them start painting in our house but the painter did such a poor job, we had him stop. He showed up with the wrong paint (color and sheen), no ladder (borrowed mine), no trash bags, did not remove outlet and switch covers even after we asked him to, and even painted over our paint sample sticker. Turnkey quoted 20k to paint the house and a professional painting company that we ended up hiring (Kevin's Painting) only charged us 11k and did a gorgeous, professional job. In summary, avoid this company like a plague. When you are talking with Mark, it sounds like you will get a top notch experience instead you get a lousy one. We failed inspection the first time and have had to hire outside companies to redo their electrical, painting, plumbing, and flooring work. Look at the dates on their reviews. The good ones are years old. In going through this nightmare, we met two other families having the same experience or far worse. A guarantee means nothing if you cannot trust the company to do good work. read more

READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW TO GET THE WHOLE PICTURE. I really want to be fair in my review and I hate to give a bad review. However I feel obligated to give a truthful account so that other people can make an educated choice. This 2 star review is actually NOT for poor final results at all. The finished product of our job looks good. Our projects did have several common problems (nothing unusual to construction though) all jobs have things that need to be fixed and resolved. Mark is a friendly and affable guy as were most of the Subcontractors who did the actual work at our house. However, Mark as the General Contractor (responsible party) did not supervise and inspect the job site hardly at all, unfortunately that led to many miscommunications between myself, the subs and Mark. He did underbid 3 out of 4 sections of the job, requesting extra money, which is a huge pet peeve with me. With all my Contractors I expect quotes to be extremely close to the reality unless the job takes an unexpected turn, which ours did not at all have any suprises. In my opinion, he arrived quickly for a payment but slowly to resolve a problem. I was uncomfortable enough with the lack of supervision that instead of working, I stayed home to watch over things and answer questions because of the poor communication between TurnKey and Subcontractors. This rating is SOLELY about how poor the response time was to calls and problems. I always had to call or text Mark multiple times before he responded, usually he waited until I was angry. He tended to act like he was not responsible for fixing the issues, and maybe that was just how he came off. I don't get the impression at all he is a dishonest contractor....maybe he just has a few things to learn. Our rock posts were finished in mid September (and we paid in full) I complained they were falling apart by Oct 8th (sent him pics)......it did take 2 or 3 visits for the sub to hopefully figure out the problem...the final repairs did get done yesterday April 19th. In my opinion, this was far too long for anything to drag on. Unfortunately Mark and I disagree on how to professionally resolve issues. Not how I do business at all. Now the job is finished, and in all fairness it does look good. I sincerely wish this had been a better working relationship, especially since this is my way of auditioning new Contractors for my larger current and upcoming client projects. read more

I enlisted Turn Key Remodel to certify room additions which the previous owner did not obtain the proper permits. The process was painfully long from start to finish. It took over 10 months from the start of the required drawings to final sign-off by the building inspector. Part of that time (3 months) were spent waiting for plan/drawing approval. Once the plans had been approved, Turn Key made steady progress even with some unexpected requests from the building inspectors which delayed the process for about several weeks and increased the costs. In the end, the price was fair even though the unexpected cost arose. The construction work was good. Turn Key Remodel was quick, competitive and after seeing the great job they did, I can't wait for them to give me a bid on doing more in my kitchen. I had removed a hanging cabinet in my kitchen over my peninislua and once the cabinet was removed we noticed there was areas of the ceiling that needed to be retextured to match with the current ceiling.
