The first time I shopped at this store, I found and purchased a number of wonderful things. However, the second time, on February 2, 2021, I was discriminated against by a member of the management staff due to a breathing disability. I was offered no reasonable accommodation, as required by law, but was merely asked to leave the store solely due to my inability to wear a mask. I asked the employee, "If I were in a wheelchair, would you require me to walk in order to shop here?" I got no response to that question. Shortly after I left the building, I was approached by another woman who stated that she and her friend were shopping in the store without wearing masks and witnessed the discriminatory behavior. They decided not to shop at the store due to what they saw. This kind of discriminatory behavior is absolutely no different from discrimination against any other kind of disability. I filed a complaint with the justice department because when the pandemic first began, we were all told that people with breathing issues would not have to wear the masks. That proclamation has been summarily ignored by many companies. If the government does nothing to uphold the ADA, those of us with breathing issues may soon be unable to take care of even our basic shopping needs due to this kind of discriminatory behavior. read more

Wow- I have NEVER had to deal with staff so incredibly rude in a retail space. My wife spent 25-30 minutes selecting items and placed them on a rack in the dressing rooms. A staff member came and took them while I was sitting nearby. It had been less than a minute. I asked them who took them and where they were taken. No one admitted to taking them. I was told that clothes placed there are go-backs. My response was "Oh, that's great". The girl then followed me across the store and confronted me by saying "If you continue to act that way, we will have to tell you to leave". My wife later went to speak to her. I have worked here for almost 3 years and the entire staff are very hard working people and I must admit we do put up with a lot. Retail is not the easiest job to do when dealing with all different types of people and situations. Consignment is a major part of our operation and when we refuse items it is by company standards. Everyone who does consign should know the rules and not to get upset when something is refused. Everyone has their good and bad days but all that aside I do recommend this store read more

The staff there when I was doing consignment was absolutely rude. Didn't explain anything about the process, just basically pointed and said fill out the paperwork. She was not friendly at all. Non of staff were helpful. I didn't know they only took 35 items at a time and I carried in probably 75 items before the rude lady said oh we only take 35. I have had the same experience as those listed below. I went in today, first to go in and ask if they are currently accepting items. When I walked in the ladies at the counter full on glared at me. I asked, and they said up to 25 items. I retrieved my bag from my car and walked back in. I was directed to a woman in the back and before I even walked all the way up to the counter she said "Most people like you want cash and thats not what we do here" Confused, I asked for her to explain. She said I should go try elsewhere if cash is what I want thats closer to my age. I'm almost 25, not sure what that meant. Anyway, I tried inquiring once more about how its run there and she again directed me to "Name brand exchange" down the road. I left immediately with no plans of returning! I was shocked at how poorly I was treated at this store. A woman named 'Roxy' was cold and indifferent when I went in to consign some clothing. They make money selling my stuff, and have the nerve to treat me poorly. She acted as if I was bothering her by making her do the job she gets paid to do. Someone needs to provide 'Roxy' with some customer service training. I don't know if she is the owner, but she certainly acts like she owns the place, and would prefer to not be wasting her time there. Perhaps hire some people that understand the value of customer service. Recommendation: Don't waste your time at Turn Style. I have been consigning here for years. The manager is very rude. I came in the wrong way and she kept scolding me over and over again. This isn't the first time she's been rude it's a usual occurrence. Every time I come in, I hope she's not working. As a matter of fact people drive to Tempe it's so much nicer! I would give this Mesa location 0 stars. I have been going here for years and put up with this condescending bitch of a manager! I have experienced her attitude and watched her degrade other's as well and today was the end. I was there today and when checking out, the girl asked if I wanted to know if I had any items left in store. I advised her I didn't see any of my stuff when shopping in the store. She looked up what they "claim" was still in the store. They were 2 large finials and 1 smaller one. I told her I went through the store multiple times and don't see them. So she went to go ask the manager bitch about them. I overheard the bitch tell her that it isn't their responsibility to look for our stuff and tell the customer they are here if that is what the computer says. (Plus other nasty comments) I again walked through - and these finial's were at least 18 inch tall so had to be out and not hidden. I have never checked on all the stuff I have brought there over the years and never investigated what they have sold or not, prices..etc. Well now I don't trust anything they have done and wonder how much money I have been screwed out of! Who knows what happened during there closure for COVID? I was really hoping that bitch would be gone after their COVID closure. Cudos to Christy in handling the rude obnoxious woman who refused to wear a mask in the store. She kindly asked her to put a mask on. The woman screamed, cursed and ranted on for 20 minutes about her civil rights, how we are slaves to the government and all kinds of crazy shit! Been there a couple times, have found adorable stuff each time. I've found the service courteous and professional. There's a great range of styles and sizes, and some true gems every once in a while. The only thing that keeps me from giving it five stars is that there always seems to be something wrong with the clothes. While trying stuff on, I find rips and large stains, with no indication on the tags or anything. I am aware that it's consignment, so I'm not expecting shiny new stuff - like most consignment stores, you just have to keep your eyes out and inspect the merchandise closely. Some stuff I've bought despite the damage (like something I loved and could stitch up easily) but I've definitely declined to buy a few things because of damage. I haven't looked at the furniture yet, mostly I get distracted by the clothes and also I don't particularly need more furniture right now. But I plan on checking it out next time I go in there because some of the pics on Yelp are gorgeous. read more

I've been going here since they opened years ago and I'm never disappointed to find more quality items than I would ever find in a thrift store. The items are in better condition and are value priced. I don't have time to go from store to store to store. I've been shopping at this consignment store for a couple of years. I have to agree with many of the reviews about employees having a bad attitude, but honestly recently the service has been much friendlier. Not sure if there's been a management change, but they are certainly hiring more friendly people. You really don't seem to make much money off of the things you bring in and I just hope that they are being fair with the sales. I think the store is well organized and I have bought many things. Roxanne is the rudest, most miserable person I have ever dealt with in customer service, she always yells at me but today she yelled at an elderly lady for not having her things on hangers, this ladies hands were crippled up and she could barely use them, I felt terrible for her. I was going to give this a two until I saw other posts about the same person. I came in today with some clothes to consign. The woman behind the table said, " Are. You here for consignment?" No, hello, how are you or anything. When I said yes she asked for my info and then asked me if I had ever turned clothes in before. I said yes. She said, " well then you know they need to be on hangers". I said no, that was not the case last time. She said, " yes it was, I am the manager ( I assume Roxanne, short, dark hair, , elderly) and I train my people." But she said she would look at my clothes but if any were wrinkled she would reject them. That's what the hangers are for. I said don't bother and walked out. Wow. I was debating on how I would rate Turn Style; however, my experience this morning was far less than pleasant. I have purchased and consigned at this location on multiple occasions; however, the employee running the furniture department was very demeaning and berated me about my items. I know turn styles policies and I really only consign furniture/household items. I had four bowls that went with a kitchen oil set and she handed me one saying "This item is not ready for the floor, it is dirty." I looked at the item, knowing I have NEVER once used it and wiped a few dust specs off. She rang in the rest of my items before I asked if she would like me to take it or if it could be used in their store. She replied with "well is it clean?" I replied with "well I wiped the dust off" and she said "oh, well there was food on it so it was dirty" KNOWING that there wasn't food I replied with "oh I'm sorry I've never used them before." She again replied with a demeaning comment "well I felt something in there, it was good." Seeing as I am providing turn style with my items for profit I left feeling very disrespected. The employees voice was raspy, and I understand there are precipitating factors. I too was sick. I am a teacher and am very aware when head colds etc. are coming around seeing as I get them frequently. I just don't think I will be returning to this location because of the employees professionalism in the furniture department. read more

If I could give a negative review, I would. DON'T consign anything there! You will be ripped off!. I brought in several high-end items and I was told that only five were accepted. I wish that the person taking them would tell me which ones are accepted. Instead, she was just looking in her book. After two months I went in and was told this and that my balance is little more then $4. I had left jackets, suits, sweaters and dresses. I was told..."I'm really sorry but all I can offer you a blank page that you can claim it on your tax return as a donation". I was told that what i thought was 32 items were only 3 items! Ridiculous! I want my items back! I expected to make at least $200. I would rather sell it on eBay. Not sure how this business can get away with theft! read more

I visited the Chandler location today and had HORRIBLE customer service. Not only was the girl helping me ridiculously rude, but she wasn't at all helpful. She didn't say hello, thank you, good bye or even smile. She behaved in a way that made me feel like I was an inconvenience. When I returned to the consignment counter, she turned her back to me and said "your hangers are over there." Didn't look at me. Didn't say "thank you." Just was short and curt. I walked out of the store without her even saying "good bye" or "thank you". Needless to say, I WILL NOT be visiting any of the Turn Style locations in the future. I've worked with other stores who were much kinder and appreciative. Once I collect my final balance, I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

This is my favorite consignment store ! I live about 30 mins away and will drive all the way to this store . I'm always amazed at the terrible things that people say here . I am in there and I hear how the consigners talk to the employees . I don't understand why the consigners think the employees should take dirty or broken items. This is a used store . If you look around you will see that the store is always so clean and in good shape . This is why I love to shop there because the items are in such good shape . So for a consigners to get upset Bc an employee won't take a dirty item doesn't make sense . Bring your items clean and it's crazy to think that anyone would even attempt to sell a broken item . i love love love this store! Although many people are upset with some of the encounters they have had, it's simply because they have not read and understood the consignment slips. EVERY time a customer comes in to consign they are told by an employee to sign the consignment slip which states all the rules and guidelines. even when you first sign up employees have you read the rules and guidelines. therefore any complaints about consignment are just unnecessary because it's customers not reading the rules or asking questions to the employees. I highly suggest asking questions and reading the consignment slips. it's not that hard. I've seen so many customers be so mean to the employees. the employees are there for the consigners, they are the ones helping you sell your clothing. they don't have to. read more

Great things here and great prices. I believe it is the owner....someone called her Roxanne...but very rude and snooty! No need to act this snobby! It is a real turn-off to people who shop your place a lot. I felt like you were looking down on me... and it was not a nice feeling. I'm writing this review for Roxanne. Turn Style Consignment on Val Vista is a waste of your time. Roxanne is the most nastiest, ill-mannered, unwelcoming, and unprofessional manager. Unfortunately, it's my closest resale option. If it wasn't, I would not patronize this business. Clothing/Home goods are all from the late 90's to early 2000's. In worse conditions than the things you would bring in that are well worth selling. I don't understand Turn Style's reasonings to accept/unaccept items, when you shop in there and find stained dresses, over worn shoes, and home decor that is outdated. It's highly disadvantageous that whoever created Turn Style, is letting a person like Roxanne manage one of their stores. There are already multiple reviews on Roxanne, too. Horrible service! I walked in with two bags and which I literally just took off hangers at my home and put into bags for easy transfer. Everything was clean and not even wrinkled. When I got there they said they probably wouldn't take anything because they are NOT on hangars. But said they would look through. Not even 5 minutes later they call my name and tell me that they won't take them because they aren't on hangers. But asked if I would like to donate them. Are you kidding me! I brought in purses and all name brand merchandise, of course they want me to "donate it" so they don't have to give me any money or credit. Such a scam and horrible service! Horrible customer service. Employees ignored my request to pull and return my items and before looking for my items said they were probably stolen. The consignment manager said to go home and she would call me if they found it. The consignment manager complained of " so much theft at this store". the corporate office is no help either, they won't even answer the phone. I have been cosigning here since the day they opened and they have made thousands off me since I only buy high end clothing for myself and kids. The staff has been okay most times. The manager has been a little short with me at times too but nothing too bad and I just take her with a grain of salt. However, yesterday when I brought my consignment in I had a bag of accessories and some clothing too. I did not specifically count how many accessories were in the bag. Well apparently it was over the 35 limit. She called me back and scolded me for having too many items. My boyfriend had a consignment too and he said just put the extra items on his. She rudely said to me well that is "cheating." Cheating, what a frickin joke, we live in the same house. Who are we cheating exactly? The store?, because they may actually take more items with the possibility of selling them to increase their profit? This behavior is unacceptable to openly insult a customer( by the way who has hundreds of dollars in store credit at the moment) in front the whole store because you are in a continuous bad mood and lack any customer service skills at all. Shameful! Whoever owns this store you really need to take note of all these reviews and clean house starting with the manager Roxanne. Maybe you can rebuild the reputation of the store with proper management. read more

We've consigned items at this location on two occasions. Both times we left feeling pretty blah. The people receiving our items seemed bothered by having to do so, they seem to exert as little energy as possible when responding to questions or even pleasantries, and we've yet to hear a "thank you." So, as far as customer service for the consignee goes, thumbs down all the way. We've made a few bucks -- more than we would have by just letting the items collect dust at our house. As far as a shopping experience goes with them, the merchandise is nice, the prices range from reasonable to kind of high. Customer service is a little better when you're a shopper vs. consigner -- but not much. Good customer service just doesn't seem to be the culture at this location. Neither does just being pleasant. Went in asking about the "selling" process and was treated like trash!! Promptly told "we dont do 'buy', we only do consign, sorry, there are places down the road that do that sort of thing..." I was floored!! After getting over that attitude, I asked about the consign process and was again talked to like a hobo or something! They obviously didnt want me there or have time for me... When consignment items are stolen they offer you a receipt to claim on your taxes. So what was the point of trying to consign them? From now on I am just going to donate to Upward Foundation or Big Brothers Big Sisters and get a tax receipt. I have been shopping this store for quite sometime. I find the employees nice and kind. Like any other consignment thrift type of store it can be hit or miss with great items. There was a season that the clothing was not looked at carefully and people were bringing in things with stains or small tears and expecting it to sell. Like I said it was a season. Because most of the time there is a good assortment of items. I can add new things to my home for a very affordable price. I appreciate the employees and the awesome jobs they do! read more
