I was less than impressed with this store. As they were getting ready to open in their new location (next to Changing Hands in Tempe) they had limited hours of operation to accept clothing. In addition, you have to make an appointment and bring things on hangers. As a mom I would stop in first thing in the morning and they weren't open until 9 or 9:30 (I honestly don't remember the time. I just know I drove by and they were never open). The front desk girl was unfriendly and lacked customer service. I learned the lack of customer service to be true with other staff members, too. As a Tempe location, I guess I expected more...more friendliness, more character and well...just more overall! The staff member who accepts the clothes was very belittling and did not explain the policy. When I asked her a question after reading the policy she quickly responded, "It's all right here," as she points to the writing that I...yep...JUST READ! I discovered Turn Style a few months ago and thought I would check it out. I've always seen the sign but never explored inside. I was pleasantly surprised to see the amount of items that were for sale. I had recently tried consigning at another local business and was intrigued by the process. I found several items that I purchased before I started the consigning process. I like how they have lots of affordable name brands and lots of selection in my size. After visiting a few times, I decided to bring in some clothing that I was going to donate to a women's charity, so I figured even if it didn't sell, I wouldn't be out anything anyway. I went in on a weekday before lunch and Kayla took in my items and explained the process to me. She was very helpful and I was well informed on Turn Styles terms. I chose the 55% store credit since I had already found many items that I liked for sale in the store. I had brought in the maximum of 25 items. She did tell me that for 2-3 of the dresses I had, if I were to get them cleaned (they had minor spots on them) and brought them back, they would take them. They ended up taking about 17 items and I made the mistake of not making a list of everything that I brought in but I was able to remember the items I had and figured it out. They did provide a nice slip that lists the number of items and the dates when they will go on sale and the final pick up date. I didn't want them to donate the items to charity, which is what they will do if you don't pick up your unsold items after 90 days so I kept tabs on what sold and would call every few weeks to see what other items had sold and get an update on my current credit balance. This past weekend, I knew that the 90 day period of having my items was approaching so I went in to retrieve them. Only 6 of the items that I brought in had not sold which I was pleased about. I found all but one of them, which was a necklace. Over the previous 80 days, the necklace had been located in the glass counter with other jewelry. I looked in the glass cases and on the ends and was told that since they started their fall clearance, they took all of the items with a certain colored tag out of the glass case and put them on the end to move their inventory. I understand this but since my item had originally been located in the glass case and then moved to the open air of the store, it increased the risk of loss or theft. The store claims not to be responsible for any missing or lost items. I asked Kayla about this and she said that someone could be walking around with it and if it sells or if they find it, they will call me. I know that the necklace was not priced very high but that doesn't change the fact that it has gone missing. I am disappointed in their lack of responsibility and aloofness about what happened. I understand that it is their policy but an apology would have been helpful. It has made me certainly second guess bringing anything of moderate value to be sold. In hindsight, once the fall clearance sale started, I should have gone in right away and reclaimed the necklace. I will still shop here because I like their selection. I am a little hesitant to consign here, unless the items are things I truly don't mind if they come up "missing". read more

They seem like they have a lot of merchandise, but I never really find anything I like here. I also noticed there was kind of a strange smell. I come here once in a while when I go to Changing Hands bookstore and browse. I feel like I have better luck at Goodwill. The prices seem a little too high here for what they're selling. read more

I've always had a great shopping experience here. In fact, this is my go-to consignment store. The clothes are clean, stylish and funky. Great selection of purses too. Shoes for my boat-feet are lacking, but I wouldn't expect anything different. I love how everything is arranged by fabric type, size and color. It makes it easy. The staff is always very friendly and even know my son by name, which I appreciate. I recently lost a bunch of weight and I pretty much re-stocked my closet with items purchased from this store. My family just purchased a vacation home in Arizona and I happened to make a quick stop in while passing by. I sure didn't regret it! I was impressed by the selection of a little bit of everything. Place was super clean and well organized by sizes. Perfect place for cute summer dresses on a hot day when you don't want to do the whole coordinating several pieces of an outfit thing. As for the store itself and the merchandise, I would happily give this five stars. I went on a shopping weekend and was delighted to see this store, as I used to frequent them up in Minnesota. They seem to have a higher quality merchandise than other turn around stores. And they have lots of home goods and decor at great prices. The staff here was super friendly. Since my friend and I stayed in the store over an hour, and bought $100 worth of stuff... The tounger sales girls were really helpful and let me start a collection of things I wanted at the register. I would also give them five stars. And now the reason that I regretfully can give this business only three stars, and that's pushing it! The (seeming) manager on duty that afternoon (Sat., Dec 9) was a hateful older woman. She haughtily insisted I could not leave my merchandise on the counter. I told her it had already been there for over an hour because that's where the other employee had told me to put it, and no one had complained. She rudely proclaimed it had to be moved to the opposite counter, like that made such a huge difference... Not! Also, one of my blouses mysteriously disappeared. Three younger sales girls went out of their way looking for it, and when questioned, SHE knew (without looking up from her tasks) that it had been sent back to the rack. Kind of fishy, right? When I finally checked out with even more things, of course I got her. Too bad she had to go all the way out of her way to go collect all of my merchandise. What a witch. I consign and shop at Turnstyle and have for years...until last night. I am very upset still today as I process my overall experiences over the years with the staff. Last night it was discovered my purse i had on consignment was not in the store and was never bought either. It wasn't even about the loss it was about the cold and inconsiderate attitude of the staff that bothers me. No "I'm sorry" or anything at all... I understand the policies and i respect them its not that which has disturbed me its the staff and this is not the first time Ive felt like wow that was rude. I frequent all the locations and it seems all the staff have no idea how to offer customer service. I had my friend come consign at the Tempe location where I do my consigning and I actually almost apologized in advance for them in case they were rude to her....which they were of course and like me she doesn't really care what they say and don't say. My mom also consigns at the Tempe store... and the Mesa and Chandler locations. She also reports they never have been friendly and lately even quite rude. Its very unfortunate that I even write this...I don't write reviews and I don't have the time to worry about the poor customer service in a store but last night I was actually offended enough by this associate that I am thinking about taking my clothes and my shopping elsewhere. I am that nice and appreciative customer who is very low maintenance, I spend money and I'm always considerate. My social circles make me a strong networker and I've brought this company a lot of business. The staff needs to get it together and stop being grouchy, rude, and acting as if they're doing us a favor somehow. Nope honey...you're lucky to have customers in your store and I'm confident when i say I'm sure there are many like me out there in the valley who find the store fabulous but your staff needs to step it up. read more

I've been shopping here over the years and it has really improved from where it started. I resell used clothing for a living and some of the markdowns here are cheaper than you can get at Goodwill! I got Free People for 4 dollars and Burberry for 10 dollars! I can't speak to the consignment experience as I imagine you do not make much selling your clothes here, but from a buyer perspective this place is great. While the customer service perhaps isn't that of the Ritz, in an independent thrift store I'm not expecting much and it's much better than many of the thrifts I shop at (and I shop at A LOT as that is my business.) I will gladly support an independent business any day of the week and buy clothes that would have ended up in the landfill. In summation, you take the good with the bad but this will remain one of my favorite thrifts in AZ. read more

I have to say , I have really been liking this place more and more. I had not been here in quite awhile, like well over a year. But, we started visiting it again recently. I was very surprised to see all the cool house wares they have here now. Not that I really need another thing in my house. I don't! But, it is fun to look and I have bought a few things anyway. Such as ,I got 2 wonderful sets of crystal glasses for a song. This is real crystal by the way. Not just cut glass. They were quite beautiful. So even though I did not need them. I thought they were well worth the price, they were truly beautiful. There hours are better, they are open longer now than they were when they first opened and that is a plus. The girl working that night took the time to wrap every bit of stemware very carefully. I did really appreciate that as well. You never know what you will find. I love a lot of the furniture they are showing now as well. I just have no where to put it all. But, if you are in the market for some cool home items. I think this is your shop. read more

Worst customer service I have experienced ever! Not only did they lose my items I consigned with them, they treated me more as a nuisance when I brought more items in to give them a second chance! I went to Turn Style Consignment recently and was pleased with my experience. The store is clean and is merchandised well - it isn't cluttered or over crowded. Merchandise is hung according to size - huge bonus in my book when it comes to second hand shopping. I was a bit surprised that some of the clothing did look very worn, but there was also a fair amount that had tags on and had obviously never been worn. The kids area was slim pickings the day I went. The staff was friendly and eager to answer any questions that I had about consignment. I know that some people are wondering about the pricing. In order to understand their pricing, you have to understand consignment in general. Consignment works differently from most second hand stores. Often the one consigning tells the store what the item is worth to them - or what they paid for it and then the item is priced. If I'm remembering correctly, TurnStyle gives about 50% of the sale back to the consigner. That's a great deal for consigners! The store carries a wide variety of merchandise - clothing, household goods, decorative pieces, furniture, etc. Check it out, you never know what you might find! read more

I like this larger store and the staff were friendly on my visit yesterday. I did find a cute top. I didn't find too much selection on this trip, it was their 50% off red tag week and many of the tops left were pilled, pulled, faded or past their prime. I The purse and shoes selection was nothing too special on this visit; it depends I guess on what the intake is at the time. Again high mileage on the shoe side as well. really don't mind out of style because many times, people are looking for what's old to make their own fashion style new again in the present. Just please take in clothes and shoes that do not look like their better days are behind them. The household decor items at this location appeared very dated on this visit. This place always has a foul odor when you walk in and their loading door in the back is broken. Thus making consignment difficult to bring in if you can't find parking. The energy in this place is non existent leaving one to hunt for any bargains unenjoyable. If you are trying to consign, they want you to hang items neatly and have it pressed and clean. If you have more than 20 or 25 pieces, you are require to make an appointment. Consigning clothes is too much of a hassle here with all the rules leaving me to wonder if you are required to do all these things (clothes hung, cleaned and press), then why does the store smell like an abandoned retirement center? Good selection and decent prices. Clean store. However, I was ashamed by the customer service. The ladies working on 6/4/2020 were not friendly or hospitable at all. I'm a young woman, and I was dressed nice, shopping for just anything really--killing a little time. They said hello to everyone that walked in the store, started conversations, and were super friendly, but only flared at me. I felt as if they were watching me, and I don't know if it is because I'm younger, 20, but I was really uncomfortable. I even said hello to one of them when I passed by and she just continued to stare at me. I've never been to this location and I am not returning. I don't know what the issue was, but I felt so uncomfortable I had to leave. The store is nice and kept, but it's not worth it to be glared at and not responded to the whole time. I've been here several times, and my experience has been positive. Staff has been pleasant, even to a hyper 4-year-old who tries to touch everything. Selection is not extensive, but items are of good quality. Their recent clearance prices were amazing. Some prices can be pretty high, such as for an unworn, reversible Chico's jacket, but I don't buy if I don't like the price. Went in tonight with my daughter to try and find a dress for a high school dance. One of the store clerks purposely vacuumed everywhere my daughter and I went. It was so loud that we couldn't discuss the dresses she was trying on. Then at 7:45 as my daughter was trying on clothes, the clerk told me they were closing in just 10 minutes. She didn't bother telling any of the other 3 ladies in the store who were browsing and also in the dressing rooms. When I stated I thought the store closed at nine, she rudely told me it had been closely at 8 "for years." We were done and out of the store by 7:55 without finding anything. Unnecessary attitude from a local store that is selling used clothes, not high-end merchandise. I've been shopping there less and less over the years due to the poor attitude of the clerks. I have been to this place on multiple occasions ever since I moved to Tempe about 1 year ago. It's my go-to for blouses, slacks, and shorts. The downsides are that a decent portion of the clothes seem really outdated, the majority isn't really my style. The prices are also unusually high, considering that the clothes are pre-owned. My consignment experience was disappointing and unpleasant. It was disappointing when I brought my clothing, which were new with tags and on hangars, to them but they didn't accept most of them. They slightly wrinkled from the time I took them on hangers out of my closet, put them in my car on the hangers, and into the store so they wouldn't accept most of my items. I called the store after 3 months and requested a check for the items that sold; it's been 2 1/2 months and still haven't received payment. This may be a great place to shop but not a place I would recommend to put your items on consignment. read more

Have been a loyal customer for 3 years and spend about $300 a month there. Not any more! Went in last week to consign some clothes and was treated beyond rude by the manager doing the consignment. She gave me a 10 min lecture about their process and criticized the clothes that I brought in and lectured me on how everything should be dry cleaned and on hangers before bringing it into HER store. Great way to treat a senior citizen! Nice senior bashing! This manager was unkind, unprofessional and did not care that I was a loyal customer. I purchased two lovely ottomans last week. I was told the return policy was 6 days if tags were left on, and receipt was brought. When the ottomans didn't fit the space in my home, I brought them back (four days) and was then told I could only get "store credit". I did not hear the "store credit" part of return policy. I was shown where it was on the receipt (who reads beyond the amount?!) and small print posted behind the counter. However, when I spoke with the manager, she decided to refund my money via my credit card. I appreciate that she broke policy for me, so when shopping there, be sure you want the items or are willing to take "store credit". They seem to have a nice variety of decor items. Sold a ring that was marked as a diamond, had it tested FAKE. Tried to return was denied a refund. Manager said she would consider taking my ring and testing it- she took it kept it for days! called me said she didn't have time to test it and would return my money?! VAL VISTA LOCATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TREATED RUDE & DISRESPECTED I have been a customer for several years (spending a few thousand $$) with the store no problem and brought 20 customers to the store as part of a mentoring pay less while dressing for success. On this Sunday, I was shocked, when I was totally disrespected my a worked named Emma. I returned to the store because I realized on Saturday night when I shopped, I was over charged (NOT CHARGED THE PRICE ON THE TAG for ). I know accident happen so I went in feeling go and happy on Sunday there was not a manager on duty. Long story short the cashier was uncertain how to handle the issue and called Emma for help. Instead of Emma listening to the issue and checking out the situation. She was demeaning and stating no error had occured She raised she voice at me gave me a nasty look and proceeded to insult me. First visit last week went pretty well. Even though I had read about their consignment policies online before I went, I guess I missed the part about clothes being on hangers. It was in the middle of the day though on a seemingly slow weekday so the intake person graciously went through my huge Rubbermaid tub of clothes. I'm pretty sure I had more than 25 items in there too and 25 is their limit. I wandered around for about an hour and found a cute spring top which seemed a little overpriced at $13 for the JCPenney a.n.a. brand but I really liked it so I splurged. I also really enjoyed browsing the jewelry. I kind of like unique or maybe not the most current style of jewelry so I found lots of things. Even a necklace, bracelet and earring set that I put together and feel it is nice enough to give as a birthday gift to a friend as it is cool and unique. Guess you kind of have to have an open mind when shopping in these kinds of places. Sometimes they are hit and miss but fun in the process if you enjoy shopping, which I do! Proof in that I enjoyed my first visit was a $50 receipt. Hope I have some account credit next time I stop in. Of course as karma will probably have a hand in it, the next time I have account credit from consigning, then I probably won't find anything I like. Was sold a supposedly Real Diamond ring here, upon taking it home I found it on AMAZON! The same exact ring for 13$ the Ring was priced at $120 at Turn Style originally then put on sale for $60.A jeweler had it Diamond Tested...FAKE!!! The manager was very difficult about refunding my money.....she wanted the ring back to test it herself before she would refund my money. After waiting several days she called to say SHE WAS TOO BUSY TO TEST IT and I could just come get my money. NEVER ADMITTED TO SELLING A 100% FAKE DIAMOND RING AND WERE RUDE ABOUT. Manager buys all the stuff for less through consignment without authenticating it and resales it at a price way above what they should....STAY AWAY!!!! read more

I visited the Tempe location for the first time a few months ago. While I enjoy the large variety of items and cleanliness of the store, the staff is lacking in basic customer service skills. They act like they are doing me a favor, rather than the other way around. Especially when I bring in items to consign. I'm treated like a 4-year old. The staff is aloof and unfriendly. On my last visit, I asked the woman in the back (sitting right next to the restroom) if there was one I could use. She said "yeah, but the key is at the front desk". Guess it was too much to keep a key in back, or call the front for me? Why do they keep it locked at all? Felt like I was at a gas station! Needless to say, when I walked back to the front desk, no one was there and I had to wait several minutes with legs crossed for the woman to return and give me the precious key. I came across Turn Style just walking through the plaza and was pleasantly surprised going in. I went in because I was expecting to see some vintage furniture (which I love!) but I realized pretty quick that it didn't really have an antique vibe. However, there were some really neat furniture pieces in there! On my way out, a top caught my eye and i decided to peruse their clothing selection. I'm typically not a fan of long racks of clothing that I have to "search" through, but the sizes were neatly organized making it a surprisingly painless process.
