Very rude employee checking in clothes. Looked unhappy and angry. Not friendly at all and curt with me.

I have been a customer for 10 years and had always found good deals, quality brands and friendly /helpful employees. I have purchased clothing, several coats and jackets and kitchenwares. And I've loved all purchases in the past. The last two visits were not great. Employees have been focused on tasks and talking amongst themselves. Little interaction with customers and giving off that annoyed reaction. In retail, it's beneficial to be friendly to customers. These customers return again and again. Today I came into the store with some clothing to consign. When I walked in, I was greeted with a snear from an employee and a "Do you have an appointment?" greeting. Not "Hello" or some other welcoming greeting. I did not have an appointment and didn't know this new rule. She could have them stated that they now only accept consignments on Thursdays and Saturdays by appointment. (Today is a Thursday btw). Making a customer feel inconvenienced or just being rude makes Turnstyle look bad. I'm disappointed that my fav store has changed. I no longer recommend. read more

Typical Turn Style (in a good way!) Came here today for the first time. I frequent some other Turn Style locations closer to me, but have driven by this place several times so I checked it out. This location has a lot of women's clothes, and that's about it. Great if that's what you're there for, but good to keep in mind. Decent wall/art section, and a few pieces of furniture. Happy to see there was a designated women's plus size section- more organized and inclusive for shoppers! A few dressing rooms were open. Some really fun and quirky finds in the home and glassware section! If you are looking for Coldwater creek, J crew, Talbots, and similar business casual brands and clothes, this is a great place to do it. I found a super warm Eddie Bauer base layer for skiing, blue corduroy Gap skirt, and Banana Republic corduroy tailored pants, all fit like a glove! A lot of solid pieces and brands here. A lot of clothes for adult professionals/more preppy stuff overall here. If you like the newest modern fashion, this probably isn't your market. I liked it and would definitely return! Social distancing measures and directions in place, staff and patrons wore masks. read more

This review is for shopping only. I have never tried selling stuff here. I really appreciate this consignment store for it's massive stock and broad selection. I swear whenever I need something specific such as a red shirt of a specific business style, a medium weight down jacket, or a new wallet, you get the drift, they always have it or something similar enough. The store is organized, so it's easy to find your size and style. Prices are very fair, and they even have markdowns and sales sometimes. Lots of good and higher ends brands to be found here for cheap. I mostly shop women's clothing & shoes, but they also have men's and household goods. read more

I am so done with this store! The management is the absolute worst! I've tried to consign clothes twice this week and when I get there they had posted a handwritten note on the door that they aren't taking any more clothes that day. I came back the next day the note said "by appointment only". The staff is completely indifferent and rude most of the time. It's like they doing us a favor! There are two more consignment stores in the area and they will be getting my business from now on! read more

PLEASE TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING YOU BRING THERE TO CONSIGN! They said they took 28 items, but I got 31 empty hangers back. I made double sure that each hanger had a piece of clothing on it when I put it on their rack. THEY WERE ALL MY HANGERS! I called to report it and the assistant manager (who was also the one who checked me in) told me there was little she could do because the GM was on vacation. She said she was unable to view their camera footage. I sure hope that they make this right, but so far it seems there's nothing they can do about my 3 missing items. read more

Horrible experience. The staff is terribly rude and bitchy. I brought seven items that they priced out at a total of $63. At the end of the contracted time only two items had sold with a grand total owing to me of $7. If I wanted the remaining items back I had to go out and find my them hanging anywhere in the store. I could only find two and then had to pay $1 for every item I retrieved. Place is a joke. I'll stick with giving to the free stores. read more

Always a few stunning finds like unique decorations, solid quality jackets, jewelry, jeans and furniture. The store is also well staged to show off wares. Have bought several sets of plates, glasssware, boots, tops and framed art. Unique and good quality selection and a place to consign your good stuff. They will carefully choose what they will consign to maintain a reputable inventory. read more

I stop in here regularly since it's on my way home from work. Just like other consignment shops, it's always hit or miss, but the time spent browsing is enjoyable. They have good prices and things go on sale often. The staff isn't particularly warm and welcoming, however, which is why I'm not giving them 5 stars. I also think their fitting rooms are too dark. read more

Well, I found a number of great and for the most part well-priced things here. I think some were kinda high-priced for what they were, however, like a $13 Target skirt (which is what you see those things on sale for, there), a $40 raincoat, $18 no-name turtleneck. Somewhat odd. Though, in selling I have to agree with the other reviews here. They turned down all but one of the name-designer things I brought in which were mostly men's which I'd think they'd need more of? They also had hastily thrown them onto hangers, messing them up which felt pretty disrespectful given I'd washed and ironed everything. I brought the same things over to Rosedale, and they took most things though sent several home with me to iron (!!). ... Not the greatest overall. read more

My fiancé and I came to Woodbury to visit family. We are from Houston (where we have summer almost all year long) so shopping for summer clothes was on our list of things to do. They were having an awesome sale: 50% off green ticket items. They had great brands: Not Your Daughters Jeans, Talbots, Anthropologie brands, Joe's Jeans, J Brand... All for an incredible price!! This place is a must if you're looking for great quality for an affordable price. read more

I like to stop by the Woodbury Turn Style on the one or two times a year that I go out that direction of the cities. I like that they sell furniture there. It also has more windows and is brighter inside than the other locations I have been too. I don't find as many plus size items here but I have found a few cute tops. read more

I am giving the Woodbury location zero stars. I researched prior to arriving and brought 24 new items, mostly boutique & designer labels, the majority of which still had the price tags on. They only took 7 items!!! I was appalled to say the least - apparently the clothing needs to be less than 2 - 3 years old! Are you kidding me? None of the items were old or outdated. They even turned down a beautiful red matching shell & sweater from Ellen Tracey because she has since updated her label! I would rather donate my new, unused or very gently used designer duds to charity. At least then, I would feel good about helping out others. The time and effort is not worth the 45% you might get back! Lastly, staff not friendly at all. read more

I'm always on the hunt for a bargain, and this particular Turn Style has always intrigued me when I drive by on the highway. It's so big and towers over the road. So finally I made a point to stop in. First, know that it takes you like five minutes to wind your way back to the actual building from the highway. That part surprised me. The Turn Style shares a building with a couple of other businesses and it's actually on the second floor. So you park kind of in the back of the building, come in on the ground floor and go up a level. In general I found this to be a pretty well-organized store for a thrift shop, with a large selection of both men's and women's clothing and a decent size area for household goods. There was also a limited furniture/home furnishings type area. On this particular trip we didn't end up buying anything but I was still glad we stopped to look around. Staff greeted us upon entry and also thanked us for coming in on our way out. But I have to say they did not seem very friendly. Overall not bad, but also not anything I think I'll be making a special trip for in the future. read more

I typically shop and consign at the Roseville store, but decided to check out this one this afternoon after some disappointing visits to Roseville, and boy am I glad I did. This store is super clean, organized, easy to shop, and I found a lot of nice stuff - I was even approached by an employee and offered to have a fitting room set up! (Banana Republic top for $8.50, super cute Silver capri's for $28 and a killer pair of Franco Sarto wedges for $19! I had no idea that had home items, I felt bad messing up the display they had by purchasing an assortment of the safari items to redecorate my room. I LOVE the music that was playing - stuff from the 80's - every row I was in people were quitely singing along. I did bring in 15 items to consign and they took all but two of my items, I felt like I was treated respectfully as the employee (sorry, I know she wearing a yellow name tag but can't remember her name) she explained the one item (Eddie Bauer capris had a stain, showed me where and said they would take them if I could get the stain out, the other item was a Mossimo tank that she said they don't take labels from Target - seemed fair - as it was super cheap when I bought it. The slip I was given was fully explained to me (never had it explained at Roseville) my empty hangers were there and I was given a very pleasant "Any questions?" and then a "Thank You." Completely agree with Heather (who commented about the guy working) about this store. He must be related to the woman I spoke with. Rude! Rude! Rude! The owner or manager or whatever she is was the rudest customer service person I've ever spoken to in my life...and that includes customer service experiences on the phone. If I could have given 0 stars, I would have. She rolled her eyes several times when I asked her questions about consigning. She kept repremanding me for not following her consigning rules about hangers and having a few over 25 items. I haven't been in there before, ma'am, I'm sorry I didn't know you had so many rules. And that you don't appreciate when people are bringing in their clothes (which is why they have a store to begin with...because people like me bring in clothes for you to sell.) I kept apologizing and saying I could come back or bring some of the items back later, but she kept repeating the rules and rolling her eyes and acting like she was doing me a big favor. WOW! I would be fired if I talked to customers at my work this way. Does anyone have a better suggestion on where to shop for good consignment clothes? And also, where to take my clothes in the future. Because I will never take my clothes there again. If you haven't been there before, don't bother. And definitely pass along mine & Heather's experiences with anyone who mentions this store. What a disappointment. I used to shop here. And I would consign my clothes here. Just a couple times I've done that. This last time (which will be the last time I go there ) was absolutely the worst service I've ever come across. The gal who takes the clothes is so rude, unprofessional; just the least friendly person who works in retail. How can they have someone like that represent their core business? It's a consignment store and the person taking the clothes to consign is awful! I was there Saturday and dropped off my clothes. I was told 45 minutes to an hour for her to go through my clothes. Not in a nice way either by the way- very rudely. So I went shopping there. I wanted to use my consignment dollars to pay for what I shopped for. But she was still not done. So I paid over $60 for the clothes I found. Went to see how she was doing with my clothes. And she still hadn't got to them ( over 60 minutes) She told me I am next. So I left the store ran a couple errands came back and guess what? Surprise surprise my clothes were grouped together and she said she couldn't take anything. Really? Obviously she was annoyed that I approached her a few times about my clothes and when they'd be ready. Isn't that what the job is all about? Helping people? Not this girl. You stop by too many times youll pay the price. Which is ZILCH!! No clothes taken for me. How unprofessional!! I can't believe she is their consignment person. Stopped in here a couple days ago and was pretty impressed. You can't go in there thinking it's going to be dirt cheap thrift store prices, but you're paying for quality. I thought their selection was very nice, with only a couple off brands. I thought the home section was good, I actually saw a lot of items that were marked down, more than I saw in the clothing. The workers there were friendly and helpful! I had been looking for vintage stores and asked one of the workers if she knew of any and she actually wrote down a couple stores for me. Would definitely shop again, probably one of my favorite secondhand stores in Minnesota. read more

Ended up buying more than planned both clothing and household items. Store was well organized and I am planning on consigning there now that I know more. Not a good place if you want to consign your clothes. Turnstyle's policy is to start listing supposedly 'expired' items on ebay (but we aren't supposed to know that). I had several of my items missing (prior to the expiration date) and they refused to help me find it or reimburse me (after the 90 days). Well, then I saw two of my items on ebay. It wasn't difficult to figure out what had happened. These items were very expensive, unique designer items. My guess is that they removed them from the rack before they expired. Then as soon as they officially expired, they listed them on ebay. They have some nice home items, but they are way overpriced. Whereas they mark down clothes after 60 and 90 days, it is rare that they mark household items down. I've seen many Target items that were cheaper in Target at full price! read more

I give them a 2 only because they were open and had a nice display of their home furnishings. The rest of the store had a junky feel and the service was less than adequate. Ir was my first time in this store and I was greeted, well i wasn't greeted - I received a glance without so much as a "Hi" "Welcome to the store" or "Can I help you find anything?" I shopped around a bit, and then I inquired about the possibility of bringing a designer dress, shoes, purse, and jewelry - all things they sell - the response was not inviting. I will never walk in that store again to shop and would never consider selling with them. There are too many other good shops to waste my time where I feel unwanted. read more

I've been to this location and several of the others and by far am most satisfied with this locations cleanliness and the clothing they choose to take in through consignment all though they may be pickier than other locations i'm certainly happy with the quality of the items they do take. You can skip this store. Not a single "hello" or smile as we walked in the door. Both women actually seemed grouchy! A large selection, but everything is so crowded that you spend most of your time untangling the clothes. Nothing about this store really stood out. Won't be returning. read more

I usually like shopping at Turn Style, but this was one experience I will never forget. I'm not sure who the guy of that works there. But it might be my understanding that he is related to the owner. Maybe he thinks that gives him the right to treat customers the way he did. Yelling out loud, closing in 10 minutes! closing in 10 minutes! Over and over again. Then he went in my dressing room while I stepped out for a min and took clothes out of it so he could put them way, with my personal belongings still in the dressing room. Asking in a very rude tone Are you done with this stuff?. Seriously? You know what all that whole experience said to me? Get the bleep out we don't want your bleeping money! If I'm ever over in the area shopping again I'll go down to Clothes Mentor about a half mile away, where the clothes are better quality, prices are better, and the staff 100% better. I will also be telling my friends/customers about this. BTW Turn Style dude, I worked at Clothes Mentor two yrs and the staff that works there knows that the customers pay their paycheck. Paying customers are happy customers, and that means employees with happy paychecks. Maybe you need to figure that out dude! read more

Went to the Woodbury MN store today to check on cash I made and to pick up my fall/winter clothes that did not sell. According to my drop off list, January 1st was the expiration date, so decided I would like to get my clothes rather than mark them down anymore. While I found 3 of my items one item was missing which is the one I really wanted back. It was a rather expensive red sweater. I could not find it, and had the clerk look it up and she told me the item had been "donated". I was taken aback, and told her I was surprised by that, since the expiration date was January 1st, and this was the 2nd. I found all my other items; no problem. I don't believe they told me the truth. In the scheme of life, a sweater is no big thing, but dishonestly is. I will no longer sell or shop at this store, would recommend others not use it either. read more

Horrible experience today!!!!! Never again will I waist my time. So this is the deal I had a few items some clothing and a large painting and one small painting. I parked in the lot and saw the sign read the consignment hours which said they open at 11am well I thought "ok I have all this stuff to bring in and I want to be first in line so I will just head up now" it was 10 min to 11am. I also had my son who is only 1 and I thought while I was waiting we could look for some clothing for him. Well I got upstairs and Wendy the sales associate says its not open until 11. I said ok well that's in 10 min right?? She said yes but don't even bother bringing anything up here until then but since you are allready up here feel free to waunder around the store she said it in such a negative way. Then to top it off rigt infront of me she turned to another sales associate and said "typical typical typical". I was so shocked at her total lack of respect and how horribly negative and rude Wendy at the woodbury Mn location was. I took my son and my stuff and as we were leaving another women was coming in with items I told her what just happened to me and she said she had heard bad things before about the staff at this place and she was not going to even go inside and would take her items elsewhere. She was so nice thank goodness for her kind energy because I was so upset. I will never set foot in that store again as long as that rude women works there!! Apparently she is the store manager!??!! This place us not even worth 1 star. Who ever runs that place needs to put up a sign on the front door saying do not bring items in until 11 or we will treat you like dog doodoo. read more

They turned down all my clothing because it was more than three years old. No where on the website or in any information does it say anything about them only accepting things three years or newer. This is also completely not true because there was a piece in there I just bought last week. I will never return to a turnstyle to try to consign or buy because they have very strange and what seems to be inconsistent practices. read more

Amazing staff. They're very customer oriented, and very quick. Pricing is fair for the items and the area. Based on the other reviews left here 1+ years ago you may be hesitant to come by here but it's been a wonderful experience here for me. Either the staff has changed, management has changed or their general outlook on everything has changed because those reviews do not ring true anymore. I have been in here probably 3-4 times since I moved here, and haven't had a bad experience yet. I'm terrible with names but I believe it was Cassi (?) who greeted me when I walked in the store with a smile and she was very kind as she checked me out commenting on an few things she thought were cute which made me feel good about my purchase. The only downside I would say is their debit/credit machine seems kinda slow as the lady before me tried paying with that but I paid cash so that wasn't a huge deal to me. What a Turn Off consignment store! I made an appointment on a weekend to sell some clothes, shoes, and jewelry and arrived 40 minutes early because I was in the neighborhood. The store had some guests perusing the aisles, but it wasn't overly busy, so I was surprised at the cold greeting I received from the sales associates at the receiving counter when I arrived. I set my items on the rack and the shoes and jewelry in their bag underneath as I was instructed, and toured around the store for about 35 minutes. When I swung by the guest receiving counter 5 minutes before my appointed time, I was told by a third associate that the others had passed on all of my goods. I was surprised and asked her again if she was sure because it didn't look like my items or the bag below had been touched, but she reassured me saying that some of the clothes were out of season (as they were transitioning to spring lines) and that the rest of the clothing were not appropriate brands for resale. I felt crest-fallen because I brought some some pretty choice spring pieces, and some of the brand names I was dealing I had seen on their own racks while I was browsing. Furthermore, I was surprised that the associate who assessed my garments didn't notify me when she had finished or give me the time to tell me herself why she wouldn't take the items. It wouldn't have been such a negative experience if I had been given a little more one-to-one time during my appointment. Overall the experience at the Woodbury Turn Style Consignment on Hudson Road was rather unnerving. I wouldn't go back there again. I don't like being turned down without more detailed reasoning and empathy as a potential customer/seller. It was too impersonal and the associates were a tad snooty. If you want to go consignment, try the Roseville location--my experience there has been much better. read more

I dropped off a number of items at turn style to sell. One item was a pair of Mens Rock Revival Jeans. My husband (6'1 and 34" waist VERY AVG) wore them no more then 3 times. Also a pair barely used womens adidas yoga pants (retail $65), and a number of womens Express shirts and what not. NEVER RECEIVED A CHECK. I feel robbed. I can't believe none of these items sold. I would have sold them in my garage sale and I know I would have made at least $100 on all the items together. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I love shopping at Turn Style. The store is very organized and easy to look through the clothes. They don't have the clothes on racks so high that your arms hurt. The prices are good. If I think something is to high I can choose to wait. I love all the DIFFERENT choices of clothes. You won't have that in a department store! The home part of the store is laid out nicely. I hate to say too much good because it's a wonderful place and I like to keep it to myself!!!!!!!! read more

I went yesterday to return some items before the 7 day return period. Since I was there slightly early, I stayed in the area to wait for their store to open. Upon returning at the posted opening time, I found the store still closed. Thinking perhaps someone was just running late, I waited another 15 minutes or so and checked again but still closed (I went in to check out the other two stores in the building while I waited). About 25 minutes after the store should have opened, I then called the store and left a voicemail. I asked for a return call, but no one has called me back yet. I also called the Highland Village store and spoke to Cathy and she said she would call the district manager and someone would call me back, but no one has called me back yet. Each time I went to see if the store was open yet, there were other ladies approaching and disappointed the store was not opened yet as they got out of their cars with very nice looking stacks of clothing to consign. Wondering how the store will handle my returns, concerns, and if I will ever get a call back... read more

What happened to this store? I walked in there this past week and you know that feeling you get when you just walked into a room and people are fighting? No one turned and looked at me or said hi, it did not feel welcoming at all. To make it worse I had a handful of clothes to consign the gal at the consigning area (long blonde hair) had her back to me and just grumbled 'hang it here" awkward silence as I stood waiting for her to ask my name. As I wondered around waiting, I counted 4 employees in which no one acknowledged me. One was annoyingly whistling as she wondered around. The home side of the store was a disaster. Being a consignor I was horrified by the amount of other people's stuff that was on the floor or just thrown on a shelf. The clothes didn't look much better. Middle of afternoon, 4 people working -didnt seem like a lot of pride within the staff. Maybe there was no manager on duty was my thought. The selection seems more "goodwillish" than consignment. Every other piece I touched that wasn't on the floor was from Target. Prices on some were even higher than a brand new Gap sweater I found at Marshall's just down the street. I am not saying my items i brought in were better, just shocked that a few years ago when i consigned it was the better name brands they desired and prices were more desirable for used clothing. I guessed my items were done when I saw my empty hangers, stood there a minute, never thanked for bringing my business in or given eye contact by that same blonde (initials on my receipt Em?) The whole experience left me with wanting to ask for my items back because it didn't make me want to be there so why would others? read more
