I love this place! Beautiful and relaxing! Camping, hiking, wading in the water, slide and water hole, cabins, and really great camoing. There is a small hole in the wall store for things you might forget. Lots of small steams that lead to the falls. You really need water shoes because the rocks ate really slippery. There is an entrance fee and camping overnight fee. There is a small cave over the main falls that you can climb up to on the rocks next to the falls. Park is beautiful. We arrive late in the day at 3pm coming from Dallas. It wasn't crowded when we got there however I can see this park being over crowded. I think the price for entry is a little pricey especially coming here with a big family but it's definitely worth it! Every part of this place is amazing! Must check out the castles! Blue lagoon is amazing! Best part is the slide! Could get a little slippery so do recommend water shoes going up. The park also has a little store convenient if you forget anything. This is a beautiful place, with a babbling creek suitable for kid play, lots of hiking trails with lovely views, breathtaking falls (we went the day after a big rain, lucky), plenty of sites for camping, RV hookups, food, and other facilities (even laundry) necessary for a weekend stay. We've been taking our youth group here for years on winter retreats. The place has a lot of beauty to offer, as well as good hiking, rock climbing, and caves. Unlike the Texas state parks I'm used to, this place is not a state park and is run... a little more casually, I guess. Like some other reviewers have noted, there is trash here and there. For me, it's not "everywhere" and it doesn't ruin the park. But yes, there are poor excuses for human beings that come here and trash the place. Some spray painting, too. I'm going to assume they're high-schoolers and the like, as I see many young folks here. So... it can be a cross between a beautiful park and a hangout for young people. Not ideal, but not a big deal to me. I'm told it's crazy during the summer when swimming is in season. Since we come in the winter, it's pretty chill (no pun intended, lol). After you enter the park, head all the way to the "back" and then you can hike along the water back towards the front, ultimately to the actual falls (Turner Falls). If you hike along the water vs the "high road" path (overlooking the canyon - beautiful views), the hiking can get pretty technical. I recommend some gore-tex boots or hiking shoes, but I have fun in regular tennis shoes, too. You can have a lot of fun here if you're an avid hiker, and the rocks... oh man, I just love climbing around at this park. I won't give away all the cave locations as some are hidden, but be on the lookout - there are some great caves here. Some are shallow and just neat for picture-taking or grabbing a picnic. Others require a flashlight and getting down on your hands and knees, including getting wet and muddy. There are some fairly serious caves here, not for the claustrophobic. Love it. Overall, I love this park. There are tons of areas to explore away from the water and falls, and you could easily spend multiple days here and keep finding new ground to cover. That being said, I've never camped here; I've only done day trips. Looking at how people pitch their tents, it's a little haphazard - not like I'm used to at Texas state parks with designated camp sites. FYI... They also have screened-in shelters and there are lots of cabins in the area. During the winter, the entry fee is a very reasonable $4/person (for now). Dig it. That's an all-day entry, too - you can leave and come back. read more

I have driven past here dozens of times without stopping. It is a beautiful setting but not as "natural" as a state park-the road side of the creek was concreted in. I was also disappointed that people leave bottles and cans laying around. Neither of these interfered too much with my enjoyment without even getting wet. I spent two hours hiking from the main falls up to the castles and then up to the trail overlooking Bridal Veil falls and the arch and caves. I then hiked back down and took more pictures in the fading daylight of the main falls. I hopped in my car and went all over the upper areas. Some really beautiful views and great pictures. I'd like to come back with my camper for a weekend. I'd also love to be here 100 years ago to see it in its unspoiled state. read more

I went on a Monday morning around 8 am it was pretty empty, free parking anywhere that day, people didn't start arriving until later I'd say 10ish but wasn't crazy packed like the weekends are. Hiked up and down the waterfall a couple times, explored the cave, explored the "castles" which had some trash, the park overall had a bit of plastic and trash all over but that's the people who don't care about littering I did see some workers cleaning and picking it up but I'm sure they can't always get it all. The water itself was not bad, some areas darker than other. A lot of natural moss and algae growth in some rocks which made them slippery. The view overall was very beautiful the rocks and trees very pretty and green. My experience overall was very good we found a nice place to cookout and eat under some shade at some picnic tables, there were restrooms right next to us and plenty of privacy. Lots of "secret" spots around the lake you can find more than the obvious water holes most people are at. Good hiking/rock climbing shoes are a must to explore and get up and down steep areas. Very very tiring on the body, we were there from 8am to 5 pm and knocked out when we got home but very worth it. read more

Turner Falls is a 30 yr tradition in our family that ended this year after our visit on 14 Aug,2022. 18$ to get in, 10$ to park? The park was dirty and gross. The water at the top of the falls had more trash in it than a dump. Overflowing trash cans, trash in the water, etc.. I wouldn't mind paying that much had the park been clean and upkept. The city of Davis must make a fortune from the park, looks like they could hire some local high school kids to walk around and clean up, instead I saw young people who looked to work at the park just sitting around not picking up trash and actually walking by large amounts of trash. Turner Falls: more fun than a wild boar in your campsite and you with no weapons. Yes, we did have some excitement during our camping expedition, but we also had a lot of fun, despite the crowds and the wild boar encounter. The main attraction is the big waterfall and the natural swimming pool beneath it. In the creek above the waterfall, you can wade, frolic, and slide down little, natural waterfalls. The water is from a spring, so it's clear and on the chilly side, but you get used to it and it's extremely refreshing in the heat. There are also caves to explore and hiking trails. The caves are not deep, but fun to find. The hiking trails range from super easy to some pretty tricky rock climbing. The area is huge and offers primitive camping (that means bring your own tent), RV hook-ups, and cabin rentals. There is quite an array of families, college kids drinking beer, hippies, and big groups. We stayed up drinking beer till 4 am both nights we were there, and from the sounds of it, our neighbors did as well. There is a police officer that patrols the park at night, but he didn't hassle anyone from what we could tell. The families with younguns didn't seem to mind the beer drinking atmosphere, although they seem to have stayed in another part of the park that is closer to the water. This park is definitely kid-friendly, as well as big kid-friendly. The park was a bit expensive: $10 for each adult per day, plus $12.50 per vehicle per day. So for the weekend, it cost Sigurd and myself 65 smackers. You can also buy firewood if you cannot bring your own, and that cost $5 a bundle. Floatation devices run from 6 - 12 dollars, so you are better off stopping at Wal-Mart along the way to pick up floaties and logs. The park posts no warnings about the wild boars roaming the area. When Sigurd and I arrived after dark Friday night and were searching for a campsite, we encountered one in the brush and had to make a run for the car. Luckily, the pig didn't chase us. When we called the front gate to report it they said, "yeah, don't camp in a site where there are pigs". Thanks for the warning sign at the entrance, amigos. I also feel it's important to note that two days after my Turner Falls experience, I have some mysterious bug bites. That happens sometimes when you camp, and I didn't use any Off, so I will not fault Turner Falls for this, but I'm including it in this review to remind all you city folk to wear your bug spray. Sigurd and I plan on returning to Turner Falls at some point, but maybe after school starts and it isn't so crowded. read more

Will not return. Avoid! It is an absolute dump. I counted 3 dirty diapers on the bank of the pool at the falls. Not to mention the absolute piles of bottles, cans and food wrappers in the caves, on the trails, in the water, and in the castles. The bathrooms made me sick walking into. THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE DUMP! What an embarrassment for the city of Davis. No way will we make a return visit to this once beautiful park until it's cleaned up. I was quite vocal to the employees that I met in the office. The facilities need to be repaired and/or upgraded as well. They are charging $12 a head, put some of that money in to cleaning up after the low life slobs that think it's ok to just throw their trash on the ground. Fix the place up. I used to go to this park back in the 80's so I admit I'm a bit spoiled. It's beautiful because the falls are beautiful, but the price has gone through the roof at $12 per person and there had to have been 20,000 people there. I'm used to a crowd of a couple hundred. Trash was everywhere and again, I may be spoiled because we always picked up any trash we saw to keep the park clean. This park is beautiful, the water is amazing, camp grounds are also great. It's not a 5 star because of the bathroom. There is only 2 areas for showers and the lines are long, because each one has few showers. The grounds have Porter potties throughout. The porter potties are cleaned during the highest peek, (late morning when everyone needs to go). New structures "restrooms" were built but they are also porter potties. - bring your own toilet paper- your Lysol - it's so bad! It's also extremely expensive. read more

There are two entries for Turner Falls, so I chose the older entry. I came here for a friend's birthday from Sat-Sun in late June. Yes, it can be very crowded, especially during the middle of the day when it's the hottest. But it's no worse than a regular water park, and here the views are lovely (scenery, not necessarily people). I didn't see a lot of trash like other reviews I read on other websites indicated. We camped Saturday night in the "Butterly" camping area, which was the more "primitive" area. Basically, it's primitive because you'd need to drive to get to the showers/bathrooms because the primitive area is further back, plus it has lots of steep uphill/downhill. Which reminds me...I would not recommend driving here in a little car. In order to park, you have to pass over bridges that have water running over them, so you should be in an SUV or truck. Come earlier in the day if you want to beat the crowds. Or even better, camp, and when you wake up, the park will be pretty empty with calm, clear water until around lunch time. The water is clouded when there's a mass of children in it, but it's not dirty at all. We spent most of our time in the area of the falls, or grabbing a spot under some trees and having a beer. At our campsite, there was a picnic table but no fire pit area. One of the tables was covered in daddy long legs on the underside, so check before you sit down. Also, keep a look out for snakes. I would try to pick up groceries for camping in the Dallas area, because once you get to Oklahoma, there was the Sooner Grocery store and that was a bit out of the way to get to. We drove up from Denton (~1.5 hrs), but I came in from Houston the day before, so it was a bit of a drive overall. However, I think it WAS worth it, and I'd look forward to going back. read more

Turner Falls is Oklahoma's most beautiful hidden treasure. Many Oklahomans don't even know about it and somehow I stumbled across it. This is a very popular park for Dallas residents, so you must plan accordingly. Weekdays are ideal, but if you're visiting during the weekend, expect traffic delays and crowds. The park can accommodate thousands. Turner Falls is great for outdoor enthusiasts, families or just a good time with friends. Swim shoes are strongly suggested as the bottom of the stream is very rocky. There is a store that sells everything from beer to coolers to sunscreen to souvenirs, so if you're not prepared, they've got you covered. There are 3 caves and 2 pools, you have to go to all of them. There are also slides and plenty of places to camp out. Talk with the staff about the best places for you to camp out based on your group. The shallow water is best for children in my opinion, but there are so many options for you to chose from. Wish we could have explored this place a bit more and taken advantage of the amenities, but this was earlier on in a long drive and we had a long way to go yet. Place was very pretty. The stream is beautiful and they had set up a nice swimming area complete with water slides. We wish that we had let the kids swim here. As it was, we had to hide that area from their sight. There is a restaurant/convenience store (which we didn't visit) and a playground (which we did visit). We mostly wanted to view the waterfall, but were way too scared to drive our car through the flowing stream as everybody else did (can't believe people did this without any hesitation -there was a drop off on one side!). We started to hike our way to it and then quickly realized it was way too hot (close to 100 degrees) and that the kids wouldn't make it there and back. So we didn't actually get to see the falls. Definitely not worth admission price for a view of a pretty stream and playing on a playground, but definitely worth it if you are going to swim in the swimming area or viewing the waterfall. read more

Very fun day trip. Definitely wouldn't like tent camping here because everything seem so busy and touristy. We went before noon so we luckily beat the major tourist boom. Climbed up to the Castle and went on the trail above it then made our way to the Falls. It was too cold to swim in the water so we just climbed the trails next to the Falls for a closer look. On our way back, we found the old stairs that lead up the mountain to the old closed off platform. The stairs have crumbled away halfway up so if you're not good at free climbing or have kids don't try this!! It was worth the effort for us though! Fun to be able to say you climbed to the top of the mountain where most people just drive to get to! It's $4 per person right now, but I could definitely see why people say it's not worth the $12 price tag in summer! Fun for a two hour stop on your way to another location, but not $12 worth. My recommendation: go during the non-busy season while it's still $4! read more

So we bought 12 tickets in 2019 and since covid happened, they "conveniently" don't Honor tickets from 2019 and we didn't use 6 of the 12 tickets. How nice!!! I had the pleasure to stay at this park on a multistage outing. First impression was strongly impacted based on the maintenance, and the high quality park services. You'll notice every trail (or at least the ones you should be on) are pruned and cut back to leave a very clean look. The sights from more than 6 decent caves (though fewer are documented per the others are off the trail.), multiple castles hidden in the hills, with even more castle walls hidden throughout the hills, the beautiful steams which all have waterfalls while leading to the main water outlet, swimming areas abound (some very private), and water that is at a very comfortable temperature. This isn't to mention the multiple shops that sell everything from beer, pretzels, water, to a restaurant and museum. The sights certainly are amazing even more so if you compare it to some of the other parks in Oklahoma with waterfalls. Which brings us to the main attraction the tallest true vertical waterfall in Oklahoma. It really is quite amazing. The large basin at the bottom is great for summing, and very shortly after so you'll find many great places to raft and float in. Aside from the main waterfall I would say the most beautiful location is above the falls. Sadly you must leave the main trail, and follow down, and backwards (towards the top of the falls.) To really grasp the beauty you must be closer to the water level. Of all the falls in all the parks across the us U.S. that I've has the pressure to visit and experience none took my breath quite when I walked through the clearing to reveal so many falls. When I first saw this I felt I was living in a panorama high quality picture of waterfalls. Very amazing. Now why didn't I give 5 stars? The reason I didn't feel the park deserved five stars was the lack of tapped water in the area. Within a 15 min walk you can get water from most places without needing to boil it or use a cleaning system such as a pump. I haven't ever visited a park with so many camp sights with next to no water sources other than the streams which is expected during backpacking, but generally not in well maintained base camp locations. That aside however you'll have a wonderful time! Bring the family. You'll love it! read more

Drove all the way from the DFW area to come to this nice, clean, and bright lake/pond. Definitely come if you have kids and it's also a great adventure with friends. Would not recommend the zipline. It's too expensive for a 10 sec. ride. Although I heard that it was free back then, I still think it's worth the price to have a nice day out. Also bring food and snacks as there are not real good places nearby to munch. read more

At first I thought the cabins were a Little overpriced, but then I thought about the $12×2 admission, and the $12×2 overnight parking that is included in the price and its not so bad. Still, you'd think they could dust a Little and maybe have a soap dispenser on the bathroom wall or something. Also, bring some baking soda for the little fridge. The tv was too small to see well from the bed, but I was so tired from traveling and a full day in the park that I didn't really watch it. There is only one vender open and not much food selection so be sure to pack everything you need if staying overnight. The falls were sectioned off so we couldn't swim in it like we had before, I imagine it was due to all the rain we have had possibly making it unsafe for some swimmers. You still have the options of some areas in the creek and the blue hole. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and think it was worth it to have the full experience of staying in the park versus staying at one of the nearby motels. I enjoyed getting up early enough to see all the wildlife on my morning hike, and seeing a heron off my back porch. This is the perfect time of year to go, while the kids are in school but it's still warm enough to swim. read more

I'll preface this with saying how excited I was to be coming here. It was beyond overpriced, as in $40 for two adults on a weekday. Next, the trails aren't even horrifically marked, they're not marked at all so you will most definitely get turned around. We never actually found the waterfall because the trails kept spitting us out at random campsites and there was never any water in sight. It was miserable and unenjoyable so I definitely would not recommend wasting your time or money at this park. Go to Red Rock Canyon instead for great hiking trails and achievable pricing. read more
