I cannot say enough wonderful things about the team at Emergency Pet Care of Texas…read more Our 15-year-old Chihuahua, Arabella, became critically ill very suddenly and was brought in in shock. She was hypothermic, had dangerously low blood pressure, severe hemorrhagic diarrhea, and required immediate critical care. From the moment we walked through the doors, the doctors and vet techs moved quickly, confidently, and compassionately to save her life. Every single person we encountered treated Arabella like she was their own. The doctors were incredibly thorough and transparent throughout the entire process. They explained her bloodwork, ultrasound results, medications, treatment plan, and prognosis in a way that was honest, compassionate, and easy to understand during an extremely emotional situation. The veterinary technicians were absolutely amazing. They hand-fed her, kept her comfortable and clean, monitored her constantly, and gave us updates that brought so much comfort during one of the scariest nights of our lives. The little sombrero photos they sent after her first overnight stay perfectly captured the level of love and care they gave her. Even while critically ill, they still saw her personality and treated her with so much dignity and kindness. What stood out most was that we never felt judged, pressured, or dismissed while navigating incredibly difficult medical and financial decisions. The staff was compassionate, realistic, patient, and deeply caring every step of the way. Because of the skill, quick intervention, and dedication of this team, Arabella got to come home. Thank you to everyone at Emergency Pet Care of Texas for fighting for our little girl and treating our family with such compassion. We will never forget what you did for us.

When we discovered that our nine-year-old spaniel was bleeding from her mouth, we monitored her for an hour or so to see if it subsided. After all, it was a Sunday and our regular vet wasn't open. When the bleeding continued, with it occasionally being pretty significant, I jumped on my vet's website to see what emergency clinics they recommend. Emergency Pet Care of Texas was one of two listed, and since I'd had an extremely negative experience with the one that is actually closer to me, I made the nearly 40-minute drive up to Magnolia to have her checked out. Sign in was smooth and not overly detailed (not asking a lot of what I deem as unnecessary questions). Wait time was minimal. Tech tended to her relatively quickly, and by this time much of the bleeding had subsided greatly. Still wanted her to see a vet, which she did shortly. Vet was thorough and didn't recommend any additional testing or examination because by the time she saw the vet, all bleeding had stopped. If it had not, it would have indicated something more severe: rat poison or sago palm ingestion, for example. But since that did not appear to be the case, we were instructed to watch her, keep her quiet with minimal exercise and see our regular vet the next day when they were open if the bleeding began again. I appreciate that EPCT was not overly aggressive in trying to treat what turned out to be a minor nick on her gum line that apparently caused the bleeding (mouth bleeds can be pretty traumatic initially, I was told, but they do subside within an hour or two if it's nothing serious). Other emergency vet clinics usually jump on "needed testing" which results in sometimes exorbitant charges that prove nothing at all (I'm speaking from experience). The techs and the vet calmed my fears, assessed my dog for potential dire conditions and sent us on our way. Easy to locate, ample parking, nice waiting area, friendly attendants, techs and vet experience. Charges were extremely fair. Wait time for us was short, but understand they do triage incoming cases so wait times can be extended due to severity of emergency. Definitely recommended, since they only treat emergency cases (rather than continuing, routine care of pets), so they are clearly prepped for that. While it was a drive to get here from where we live, it was worth it knowing I wouldn't need to cash in my 401(k) for my dog to be seen on a Sunday.

Unlike most vets, with Bethany (Dr Crellin) you are not just another number. Most vets are out to make a buck. She even sent me a sympathy card, surely one of the saddest days of my life , first time to allow my best friend, Lucky, to be in peace and not suffer any longer. As time moves on, I understand perhaps I may have let it go too long, but it does not negate the fact I miss my dog immensely. For those of you who have to ultimately make this decision, know that understanding comes in time after being upset.

She came to our home in the middle of those rain storms and flooding. She was so sweet, sympathetic and calm with us and Pete. Pete and I sat on the couch rubbing his ears and scratching his favorite places while Dr. B, my husband and I talked. She let us take our time while comforting us and letting Pete just relax. Afterwards, she was very considerate of us and Pete's body. Later she sent us a very touching sympathy card. If we had it to do over, we wouldn't change a thing about our interaction with Dr. B. If you are having to make this decision, I couldn't recommend anyone more highly than Dr Beth!

She seems so calm in the exam room and thats a huge plus. As for the reception staff, they are excellent! Smiling & friendly as they assure us that it won't be much longer. We wouldn't go to any other vet in Conroe. (especially after one broke our little dogs jaw bone while extracting a tooth and repaired it with a wire that he wound around with the ends sticking up which irritated her tongue and gums!) Thank you, Dr. Umlang and staff for all that you do for us. Jack & Delyce Gunion

And that's with me bringing home my dog and handling her after life care ourselves (we have a spot in the backyard prepared). What can possibly cost $100? It can't be inflation. I have been down this road before with the same breed, although it has been almost 10 years. This is a tiny breed, she has stopped eating, and she has lost more than half her weight. There is no quality of life left. I guess I'm going to keep calling around. It's a shame too because a social media post recommended this place. I prefer not to be taken advantage of financially through my emotions and their greed.

My oldest dog, a Cocker Spaniel, was experiencing a lot of problems. After many costly tests at my previous vet, I could not get a definitive diagnosis of Cushing's Disease. I came to 1488 where Dr. Lindsay Helton reviewed the lab result copies I brought with me, they did a thorough exam, and determined she's just a "crunchy older dog" a lot of arthritis and a thyroid issue. She was prescribed a daily anti-inflammatory, a pain reliever and Levothyroxine and she's all frisky and engaged and like her younger self again! Dr. Green has been treating my 9 year old Cocker Spaniel who has kidney disease. When she was in the process of diagnosing my dog, each step of the way Dr. Green offered me various options/cost of diagnosis. We were able to progress conservatively and continue to manage my dog's health problems without breaking the bank. My third, younger dog, a Dachsund/Beagle mix, has a skin allergy issue. Dr. Amy Bleibury has primarily handled his case and again, we were able to take a conservative approach and have his allergies under control. Lastly, when my Mom's dog passed away, FM 1488 AMC was able to guide us to a caring pet crematory who came to my Mom's home to pick up her dog. All the vets we've interacted with have given us top-notch care and I've ALWAYS been given the options from "If money were no object..." to conservative, cost effective steps for care and diagnosis. Veterinary care is does not come cheap, and unfortunately, animal medical insurance isn't that great. I have no objection to paying fair and reasonable costs for great care of my animals which is what I've found at this clinic. As a final comment, I must say the all the vets are so kind and loving and care for my dogs as as if they were their own. They very patiently explain everything and answer all my questions. The front desk staff is terrific and efficient despite a very thriving practice and the vet techs all really seem to love their jobs and their patients. I also love the ease of their on line pharmacy!

Over the course of several months, we repeatedly brought up concerning symptoms our dog was experiencing, including a foul-smelling discharge that we were repeatedly told was "normal." After being dismissed multiple times, another veterinarian finally performed basic testing and immediately discovered a severe infection that had gone untreated the entire time. This office consistently failed to listen to us as owners and repeatedly brushed off legitimate concerns. We were also given important information -- including medication requirements and major procedure costs exceeding $1,400 -- at the very last minute despite appointments being scheduled weeks in advance. There was little communication and almost no opportunity to properly prepare. Most concerning was how they handled our anxious dog. Instead of using fear-free or calming techniques, he was handled roughly in a way that clearly escalated his fear and stress. Their approach made him significantly more anxious and reactive rather than helping him feel safe. We were then blamed when he became too stressed for them to examine him. We also later learned that we had been incorrectly told our dog was heartworm-free when he actually had heartworms. Between the poor communication, dismissive attitude, inaccurate medical information, and lack of proper handling for fearful animals, we completely lost trust in this clinic.
