I found this wonderful place for my dogs when we are taking longer trips! I love the fact that…read morethey're further out from the city and have property for the dogs to be able to wonder like they used to when we lived in the suburbs. My dogs are accustomed to being around, just our family and don't always be friend new people readily. They immediately took to the owner, Brian. Our dogs are on a diet where they have a mixture of dry and wet food that require refrigeration or freezing. That was no problem at all for the owner to accommodate. The fellas looked well cared for when my son picked them up! My son forgot to check for the dogs blankets when he picked them up and Brian kindly drove them down to the city where we live so that the dogs would have them. I will definitely use Hicks Farm again and I highly recommend them!

Before she went, I'd worked with her on sit, down, take it, leave it, and some spins with decent success. Brian took what she had and built on it, adding heel, come when called, turn, and stay. He returned a noticeably different dog. When we hit some bumps shortly after, he came back out and spent a solid hour with me going over what was actually happening...not just commands and corrections, but why she was behaving the way she was and what she needed from me to feel secure. (Spoiler: she needed me to be more confident and consistent.) He has a way of cutting straight to what matters without overcomplicating it, and more than once he said exactly the right thing at exactly the right moment. What struck me most across both experiences was how much genuine wisdom he brings to his work. He's clearly someone who has learned his craft through deep experience and observation, and it shows in every interaction with the dog and with the owner. On top of all of that, his pricing was incredibly reasonable; boarding and training combined for what many trainers charge for training alone. We felt genuinely taken care of. Kind, patient, perceptive, and exactly what we needed. Highly recommend.

Play time and even one on one time. As for price, boarding your pet is pricey if the place is decent. This place is way beyond decent and for what they charge vs rthecsrrvodecamdctreatment, no a bad deal. I will certainly continue to use them.

Late the preceding Sunday afternoon I received a phone call that my dogs Bordetella had expired. I thought it odd because he was current on all vaccination; he even had the influenza vaccination. I told them I would check with the vet first thing Monday morning - the day I was headed out of town. First thing Monday, I called my vet who informed me his vaccinations were all up to date, and they emailed me a copy of his records. I forwarded these to the Lodge and followed up with a phone call. Kelsey said they had received the email and we "were all set." I took my dog to the Lodge and mentioned that I was glad the issue had all been cleared up......they said no, his vaccinations were not current, that his Bordetella had expired. I said that the records were provided showing that he was current. I told them that Kelsey had confirmed that all was ok. She was sitting at the front desk and said she only confirmed that they had received the email records-she said that she never looked at them. Seriously?? It was then, and only then, that I was informed that their policy was that this vaccination had to be renewed every 6 months, rather than annually as is the general practice. Never once had anyone mentioned that they required this vaccination to be done every 6 months. It would seem that this should have been mentioned before now, especially since, standard practice is that this vaccination is good for 12 months and also since I specifically called to follow up on this issue before bringing my dog for boarding. At this point my only option was to pay THEIR hospital a $55 exam fee plus the cost of the vaccination or they could not accept my dog. Nice little scam to get business for their hospital.....they must have thought they had me over a barrel, but guess what, they are not the only game in town!! Needless to say, I will not be going back and have already warned several neighbors to beware of their less than forthcoming business practices.

Our dogs Mercy (doberman, 1yr) and Abby (cocker spaniel, 2yr) both were enrolled in a board and…read moretrain program with BH2 Kennels in Montgomery, TX. Both started their program on February 15th, 2023, and it was supposed to last 6 weeks, up to 8 weeks. *side note - Abby went to our vet for a check up and vaccine updates on February 9th, 2023 - and was groomed the day before drop off to training*. Mercy came home at the 10 week mark on April 28th. I went up to work with Mercy and saw Abby working with a trainer, but from afar. I went solo and worked with Mercy only. I mentioned Abby needed a groom and offered to request mine go up as she is mobile, but they said they had one they used and would have her groomed before she came home the following week. We picked up Abby on Monday, May 8th, just shy of 12 weeks. When we arrived, Abby had been to the groomer they recommended. I noticed she was itching like crazy and her skin was very inflamed. She smelled terrible. The trainers mentioned that they had given her benadryl a few times and just assumed she had allergies. I didn't make a huge fuss as we were just trying to get the lesson completed and head home. I satisfied my contract and even purchased equipment to take home to support the transition. The entire ride home- Abby did not stop scratching or vomiting. Once home, I did a very thorough look over and realized this was not just a little allergy or itch. I took Abby to my vet as soon asap (we were flooded in the day after pickup). Abby had double eye infections, a full blown skin infection, covered in scabs. Her skin was very red all over. Clumps of hair falling out when I bathed her. She had to be sedated to clean her ears and pack them. One of her ears was completely discolored. Staph and bacterial skin infection. All of the above had been going on for weeks, not days. It was an aggressive treatment and hefty bill (after a very hefty training bill). I reached out to the owner/trainer to update him on Abby and the delayed response I got was not professional whatsoever. I provided photos and the vet invoice. He mentioned they were wiping her eyes daily and cleaning her ears daily and they assumed allergies; and also assumed the shampoo the groomer used caused a reaction. I expressed that in no way thought this was intentional - however my concern for the absolute lack of communication and disappointment in the discomfort my dog must have felt for weeks. (Which is also probably what prolonged her training as well costing double the original quote). I am no stranger to cockers (this is my 4th) and I know this is par for the course with this breed. But, without anyone notifying me of her condition, I cannot get her seen and/or treated. It should not have gotten to this extent. That's not acceptable. I'm a simple text or call away. Every time I checked in, not a single mention of allergies, itching, rashes, ears or eyes, or even request made to give my dog benadryl. I requested a receipt/invoice - after 3rd request was given. Requested a copy of contract and has not been provided. Now, as far as the training, they do basic obedience. They have nice facilities, excellent reviews on Facebook. However - If your dog requires any maintenance at all, grooming, medications, etc. - find a different trainer. If you want updates and communication throughout the program - find a different trainer/facility. If you aren't a fan of training collars - find a different trainer (I use them so no judgement there on my part, but some aren't. Just being transparent). All that said -- I no longer can in good faith recommend BH2 Kennels to anyone seeking a board and train program, or for boarding. ** In no way do I feel anyone was purposely or intentionally trying to cause or inflict harm or injury/illness to my dog - things happen. A simple apology or explanation would have sufficed. A truthful one. And I absolutely should have been notified before giving my dog medication and notified of her condition long before picking her up. **I do feel her training took twice as long because of the infections she was suffering from and she could not hear properly to receive proper training.
