About 45 days ago, my wife and I went to this store in search of a puppy to give a forever home. We were assisted by a sales rep she was friendly and knowledgable and assisted us with meeting a few of the puppies. It wasnt before long that we fell in love with this adorable little Cava-poo named "Rudy" and another poodle mix. We were torn but Erica suggested we go with "Rudy" - she even pulled out her personal cell phone showing pictures she had of him indicating she had a preference for the puppy and her surprise he hadn't been adopted yet. She made it seem like she was closer to that puppy than the other puppies in the store which in my eyes elevated the value of this particular puppy because I assumed her having a preference for him equated to there being something special about the puppy. After some deliberating with my wife and Ericas confident suggestions we decided to move forward with "Rudy" I have had toy poodles and even bred them in the past so I had a rough idea of what they typically cost. I was SHOCKED when she brought out his adoption paperwork with an ASTRONOMICAL $4,800 price tag. By this time we had already fallen in love with "Rudy" and there was no way we were leaving without him, so, we decided to move forward with the adoption despite my knowledge of this puppies rehoming costs to be wildly overpriced. As she's preparing the paperwork, the manager, a man of color who's name I cannot remember drummed up some conversation with me possibly because he saw how conflicted I was feeling about spending that amount of money (I had budgeted 2-3k for a new puppy) Him building rapport with me made me feel more confident in my decision that I was getting a puppy from a highly esteemed establishment. These are great sales people that know they are dealing with a highly emotional sale, I'll give them that. Once everything was done we happily brought our new little fur baby son home. About 2 hours later, we hadn't fed the puppy anything yet as we were mostly driving, he had his first bowel movement. I noticed blood in his stool but wasn't totally alarmed. The following day he had more bowel movements and they were even worse, totally bloody. At this point I was alarmed, but also upset. When you spend $4,800 on a puppy, you do it with confidence you are getting a premium, well cared for, healthy puppy. I immediately contact Erica's personal cell that she provided me before the sale likely to further build trust with me. Due to Erica's close personal knowledge and relationship with our puppy SHE HAD TO HAVE KNOW THE DOG WAS SICK AND HAD BLOODY STOOL. Like, this had to be abundantly obvious to anyone working in that store including the manger because the blood in the stool was significant. It's definitely not something he developed immediately once in my care. She claimed to have no knowledge of anything being wrong with our puppy which I know for certain was a boldfaced lie, and directs me to her manager who I had met the previous day. Then manager knew at once what was wrong with the puppy and listed 2 parasites our puppy had, which I later verified at the vet through testing of his stool and a nice $500 vet bill Long story short, Erica, the manager and anyone else working in the back knew our dog was sick and still let us adobt him without giving us any heads up, along with other dogs (I know because I have communicated with a few people that also adopted puppies from this location) So insanely unethical. I have been in sales my whole life and when something goes wrong with a product I am selling, I always assume responsibility and do what i can to fix the issue for my customers. Not these people. All they provided me was with a number to a "solutions department" and said they will help with any reimbursements I should rightfully be receiving. Over the course of an entire week I called this number to no avail and left approximately 22 voicemails and never received a single response or connected with anyone. These people are unethical and will be hearing from my attorney. read more

I do not recommend buying a dog from Petland. While it has given me and my family access to a wide variety of breeds, it is not the best places. Every time I have been there the employees have been nice, but it's to make up for the animals. They usually seem to have various physical issues or have not been taken care of. The goldendoodle in the photos had pee-stained paws, and the Dogue de Bordeaux had snot on its face, even though a lady had just been in with it to "clean" its cage. At least the pet fair at the woodlands mall lays down some nice fluff to soak up moisture and pee. They may have more common breeds there, but the animals are better taken care of there. Not only that, but most of the animals stink. You get near the doors and can barely stand because of the wave of terrible smell you get. No wonder the employees don't want to step back there. They clean it so little it's probably stained with pee. I can see crap all along the bottom of the cages. They aren't well cleaned at all. And, after looking at many of these reviews, I am extremely glad I sanitized my hands. I thought the dog was just sleepy, but it probably was diseased. Not to mention, even after sanitizing and washing my hands multiple times, they still stunk. This isn't just from puppies being puppies, it's from bad care. As aforementioned, the employees are nice, but I would also like to say they push way too hard. They check in every few seconds and say "you should buy it" over and over again. The animals don't get enough attention. The employees focus it all on the people, and not even in a good way. No wonder the goldendoodle looked so sad to go back into its cage. In a room with people, it's extremely excited. When in its cage, it looks practically abused with how sad it is. Not to mention, one of the labs there had extremely oily fur and skin. While some animals have more oily skin than others, I am pretty sure this one had a skin condition. They blamed this feature on the dog not getting its bath yet. If it had been washed regularly and did not have a skin condition, it would not look anything close to what it did. Either they do not wash their animals regularly, or the animal has a skin condition. Either way, I am disappointed. read more

She was extremely helpful and I felt confident leaving my puppy with her for about 4 days after purchase while I get the home ready. She is really knowledgeable about how the guarantee works and everything that is included with the price of the dog. The manager was also very helpful facilitating the sale. The price might seem high at first but I highly recommend asking what is included in that price and the lifetime guarantee. This place gives you all the information on the background of these dogs. We got a F1B(1st gen) Aussiedoodle. Included in the price was almost everything you need to build a home for your dog like a dog den, pads, shampoo, water bottle, etc.. After adding another $700 with their all their mandatory BS insurance and warranty requirements. Took my pup in for his first vet appointment within the 4 days required to meet the 14 day warranty. Turns out the eye irritation that he had been given drops for at Petland was much more serious and will require surgery to fix it. His cute little underbite is actually severe enough that he will likely have issues as he gets older. It's heartbreaking because he is a little prince. Shame on you Petland for pretending that you care. I would not trade my little guy for the world and he will receive the best of care just the same. If I had seen the YELP reviews, I would never even visit this shop. Soo many people are not happy with you guys, and some even say that you deleted his review because it was bad. They asked for $7,000 plus plus for our certified 18-week-old pure breed Maltese. A little beauty. We knew this was way above marked price and agreed to pay $3,100. This is telling me they greatly overpriced this dog. Bad business practice, if you ask me. Slept in crate, no problem and woke us up 7am. Crate was then full of his #1 & 2. He was doing the same anywhere and all the time inside and outside. The Petland at Woodlands told us then they had the puppy for 2 months and it lived together with two other dogs in a bigger gage which staff cleaned every day. In other words, their pets are trained to do their stuff where they sleep. We mentioned our story for the Vet three days later and they told us it could be very hard to change this habit, if ever without professional help. We contacted a pro trainer, and he said he needed 3 weeks plus $3,000 to fully train the dog. We read several training books and followed the steps, but nothing changed. We finally accepted that the Petland had destroyed our poor pet by letting him do his stuff in his bed for 2 months. We tried to talk to the Petland people, but they were more than happy not to talk with us. Never responded to our requests. Disgusting customer service after spending tons of money with them. We were very excited to get a dog but we weren't sure if we could find one that would fit with our family. Hunter was very patient with us and we had done our research as well. A very mellow Mini Goldendoodle chose us. My wife was very skeptical but after a while in our own cube with Hanai and we felt that she was part of our family. Yes the costs are high, but the risks are also high. I remember having multiple dogs when I was younger because they were cheap. Sometimes we got to many or didn't really think about getting a dog because they were expendable or cheap. Definitely not a place to go if you want a cheap dog; want to wonder what the health of the dog is like; don't care about training and the likes. We spend 8 times as more for a car but complain about the cost of getting a good healthy dog, a part of our family. We were impressed with the staff and their care for our puppy. So once I played for the most adorable puppy I was told ALL the prices of the dogs there are $6500. I was so disappointed. There was no negotiating it was like ok bye if you're not paying the price. I'm sorry but Texas has to do better. We've had dogs in our home for years and never paid near that price for adoption. So to save you a blank trip, the price is $6500. read more
