My family and I ate here for breakfast this morning. The food was way beyond what I expected. I had the cornbread French toast with fresh apple slices, walnuts and marscapone cheese. This was probably the worst meal I've ever had in my life. It was the worst $25 I ever spent on the meal. The service was also mediocre at best. I ordered a club sandwich with avocado and the sandwich came without avocado. When I asked for the avocado it took 10 minutes to get it. My friend ordered the pasta without cheese because she is allergic to it and it came out with a pound of cheese on top. The sandwich I had was gross, bland, and I have had a stomach ache all day since eating it. read more

Food is good, service is great. Price is reasonable. Number one reason to come here though is the little Cheerios in 2 oz containers that preoccupies your little ones while you wait for food in peace and hold a semi-reasonable conversation with your spouse. This restaurant is nicely located amidst The Bryn Mawr shopping area. It has the distinct advantage of offering ample free parking. (Given another reviewer's experience with a towed car, it is definitely a good idea to move your car elsewhere should you leave the center.) Now back to the Turning Point Restaurant which is toward the back of the parking lot with an entrance at a point...... I met a friend there at 1 PM for a mid-week lunch. The atmosphere was bright, tasteful, clean and pleasant. The waitress was welcoming, polite and very attentive without being intrusive. Our lunch was quickly served. My friend had the smashed avocado sandwich which was nicely served and she said was delicious. I was a little less pleased with my Cosmopolitan salad. The chicken salad was "plopped " in 3 little chunks on the lettuce base and was way too sweet for my palate. It seemed that the plate could have been more artfully arranged. For this minor disappointment I removed a star. I didn't know that breakfast could be ordered later in the day. Given what I saw delivered to other tables, I will definitely order a skillet meal the next time I visit. read more

I've been here twice and both times the service was so slow I thought it was going to be dinner by the time I paid for my breakfast. The food was also very underwhelming considering how well done breakfast usually is on the Main Line. I hope they can fix this because it's a minor issue that should be easy to fix. read more

I was excited to try this place for brunch with my friend since there was such great reviews but our experience wasn't that great! We were quickly seated and the food was pretty good. However the waitress made the experience pretty negative. She didn't seem very happy to be there and didn't smile once and just didn't give off a friendly demeanor whatsoever. This is what really made the experience negative for me because if the waitress was kind and our orders got messed up I would be completely fine with it. But since she wasn't friendly on top of messing up orders it was frustrating. We realized she wasn't writing down any of the orders and were impressed that she had such great memory but I think a lot of our issues could have been resolved if she just wrote it down! I'm on a specific diet so I asked if I could substitute the side of potatoes, English muffin, and fruit with just a small side salad and she said that would be fine and we can customize our orders as we wish. My friend ordered a large regular orange juice but instead received a large fresh squeezed orange juice which is 2 extra dollars. She also ordered a side of pancakes with her meal and the pancakes never arrived and were also not on the bill in the end (guess the girl forgot about them). My friend was okay with it and didn't say anything since she was already full from her other food. I ran out of iced coffee halfway into the meal but the girl never came back to refill it. When the bill came she forgot to print out my friends orders so just my food was on the bill but returned later saying she forgot about that and came back with her bill as well. I was disappointed to see that the small side salad I asked her to substitute the potatoes and English muffin and the fruits for were added to the bill as an added cost being listed as an extra side order of salad instead of being included as the substitution for the three side items I couldn't eat, even though she said it would be an included substitution. I didn't want to be difficult and ask her to remove it since I saw that the restaurant was busy so I simply paid the extra cost and still made sure to tip her 20% but the experience was frustrating nonetheless due to multiple extra charges to our bill, unfriendly waitress, and missing pancakes. read more

I am never one to turn down a brunch spot close to home, and Turning Point is a welcome addition to the Main Line. I first tried and loved the Turning Point in Hoboken, NJ and when I had heard that one was opening up on the Main Line I was very excited. The menu is pretty standard fare for brunch, and the service staff are extremely friendly. Their french presses are so extra that they even come with a timer to tell you when to plunge down on the press, but I must say that the coffee we did have was pretty good. The parking lot and lines on weekends can be brutal so be prepared to wait. But they do take down your phone number and call you when your table is ready so it's very thoughtful that they do not necessarily hold you hostage while you wait and you're free to roam around. I highly suggest whetting your appetite at La Colombe first if the line is super long. read more

Unfortunately, on more than one occasion we have had the worse service ever!! No matter how many people are in the restaurant, it seems to take forever for our food to come out. Yesterday was the last straw...We were sat immediately, and our order taken relatively quickly; however, after that it was all down hill. We waited 45 minutes for our order to arrive, only for it to be totally wrong!! They told us they would speed up the order, which did not happen. We then had to have our order to go, because we were late for an appointment ( we allowed 90 minutes to eat breakfast there). They put our meal in a to go box, and when I got in the car to eat, discovered they messed up the order again and gave me the wrong meal. Soo disappointing!!! I will never walk in there again. It's too bad because they have a creative menu, and there are not that many breakfast restaurant options in the area. They need better kitchen management so they don't make you wait forever for your food. Prompt and cheerful service, and a menu filled with delicious food! I recommend the chai coffee and the cornbread french toast. The cornbread french toast is really rich and filling, but adds a different heartier taste due to the buttery cornbread texture. It comes with fruit, nuts on top and syrup, as well as a fruit cup and toast on the side. Really worth it for the price. It's a unique dish that I think really highlights Turning Point's strengths in putting a twist on good brunch. Sometimes you can have duds like ordering a sandwich that is kind of overdone but otherwise a favorite brunch spot for me! read more

So excited to try a good breakfast place that was highly recommended by many friends. However, we were sadly mistaken. There was no sort of organization when we stepped into the building. Multiple groups were waiting and no one was greeting or hostessing. Eventually our group of four was seated. After 10 minutes, a waitress finally stopped by our table. She brought a pitcher of water, but no glasses, and told us she would be back. After another 15 minutes, she finally returned to take our order. We ordered the two iced coffees, quinoa bowl, smashed avocado Benedict (one of the specials), pesto infused hash, and turkey Ruben. I specifically asked the waitress if the pesto infused came with potatoes and she assured me that it did. After another 20 minutes, our iced coffees arrived. Shortly after, our food arrived which at first looked great. The pesto infused hash did not come with potatoes but instead raw red onions. The quinoa bowl had a long blonde hair mixed in. The Benedict also had a short piece of hair on top. To top it all off, the turkey Ruben had two pieces of PLASTIC in the melted cheese. Plastic. Blue. Plastic. Our waitress, while very sweet, was no where to be found for much of the meal. Food was luke warm at best and very very very mediocre. The iced coffee comes with free refills so when the waitress brought the check (before asking if there was anything else we wanted) we asked for refills. She brought refills and as we were adding cream to the coffee and stirring, MORE BLUE PLASTIC PIECES swirled around in the cup. Needless to say, I will not be returning. McDonald's drive through would have been a better experience, or heck even Wawa sizzlies. Do not recommend to anyone read more

This was the third time we dined at Turning Point and such a disappointment. The previous time was for my son's birthday and this time my daughter's. Both times we explicitly explain that we are VEGETARIANS, egg is ok but NO MEAT. Both times we found pieces of meat in our meals after we were halfway through. This shows the amount of care or rather lack of towards your customers. More disappointed as these were meant to be celebratory for the little ones and turned out to leave a bad start to their days. All I can say is that the pace has no respect for the requests placed . I'm thankful this isn't an issue with allergy ! That would have been cause for litigation! Came here a hand full of times when it opened and it was good. Came today and I was disgusted to eat any food. The table was soaking from it being wiped down, cups were dirty, silverware and napkins were soaked. Sat down, ordered coffee- received the wrong order, was surrounded by dirty empty tables, trash on the floor, dishes everywhere. After 20 minutes no one came to take our food order. The Turning Point has steadily gone down, down hill---I should know as I was one of the VERY first customers when they had a chef who could cook one of their specialties called the "Big Easy" made with a large portion of fluffy cornbread. No more. The cornbread is NOT fluffy or even good--now it tastes like a sweet dessert mix and the size is no bigger than 2 half dollars. I was so disappointed in this place. Came here on a Sunday around 130 and it was close to empty. The service was okay, not as friendly. Now the food was horrific. It took about 30 minutes to come out and I couldn't understand how because it was no one in there ordering food. The bacon I got tasted like complete charcoal. Like it was from 2 days ago and they just heated it up. Potatoes were burnt, English muffin was burnt. French toast was burnt and so tiny it looked like half of a French toast. I would not have sold customers food like that. It was like we got the leftover, overcooked food that was heated up. Home for the holidays and my mother recommended this place. It was very cozy as we sat by the fireplace. The waitress, manager, and host gave us great service. They were high energy, efficient, and made you feel right at home. We all ordered the quinoa bowls. I'm Plant Based and they were able to handle my dietary needs. We had a large crowd and they did a great job seating us outdoors with several tables. The manager helped get umbrella's set up so we were not in the sun. Worst service I have ever experienced. Took 1.5 hours to get our food just for the server to bring out the wrong dish! No one in the restaurant had food on the table. Every single customer was unhappy and asking what the hold up was. Some were even yelling and got up to leave. Don't know what was going on in the kitchen but it was a shame because Turning Point food is so great. I was highly disappointed in my experience here. First off they don't take reservations, we had to "call ahead." We arrived and were seated right away. We ordered our beverages which came at a timely manner. But some of the mugs were dirty. We received new ones. Then we ordered avocado toast as our appetizers (one plain, one with eggs). They were both very delicious and came out after our drinks were served. We asked for side plates so we could share. Every plate was dirty. We asked for new ones because they were all dirty (food residue) and the waitress looked at us like we were insane. We ordered our breakfast and it took almost 45 minutes. Our waiter who was very nice brought out chips and salsa for us. We did not want chips and salsa we wanted our food. We kept wondering why he brought us this. We figured it was because the food was taking so long. Then finally our food arrived. Well here comes another problem. I ordered the lemon blueberry pancakes. They were just blueberry pancakes (which I don't like). It had no lemon and nothing else that the menu described (I would have ordered something else). Then the other orders were completely wrong. One person ordered no mushrooms in their eggs and as it was being placed on the table you could see it was chock full of mushrooms (had to be taken back) and the other asked for no potatoes. There were potatoes on the plate. And she asked for other things to be included and they weren't. Both had to be remade. The manager came over and apologized and took both meals off the check. We were a little worried because one person at the table special ordered her meal and the waiter wasn't writing anything down, so we though he might get it wrong. My biggest problem with this is that people have food allergies and if they eat something they asked to be replaced they could get sick. I wish they would be more careful. They gave us a gift card to come back (I don't live near there so I gave it to a friend). I was very disappointed. I will not be returning or recommending to anyone. I used wait-list through the Yelp app before I left my house. At that time it said wait was 6-16 minutes. We got there and the hostess said 20 min. We waited 50 min. There was not enough staff. The staff that was there were overwhelmed. The manager on duty stopped and talked to every table but ours. The waiter had to come back to us to change our order because they didn't have any more of what we ordered. This used to be my favorite breakfast spot in main line when they opened a few years ago. They had the best pancakes around, and the deco is very nice, bright and airy. But alas it's been going downhill. Food now is totally mediocre, service is slow, and the place is dirty all around: mugs and plates with stains, wait staff in dirty dirty uniforms and aprons, untidy floor. I stopped going to this place regularly about a year and half ago but would still check it out every few months hoping it would improve. It did not. Today we had the worst experience. My husband, son, and I went there this morning and had poor service and mediocre food. It took 10 minutes for the server to come to the table, followed by 20 minutes to get our drinks. When the food finally arrived, it wasn't great. My husband's order was incorrect and the avocado in my skillet was mostly brown. Also- my son's pancakes were not fluffy (they were overlooked circles). We asked for hot sauce but it never came and I had to get up to hunt down our waiter to make sure we got our to go cups of coffee and our check. By the time we'd left, tables who had been seated 15 minutes after us had already paid and left. We won't be going back. We'll just head back to our long-time favorite... Hymie's. I said What? We've been sitting here 40 minutes and u still haven't put our order in yet? We ordered pancakes and eggs!!" and he's flipping thru his pad and goes oh here It is. And walks away to put our order in. So the manager or whoever the heck she was comes over and gives a card for two complimentary entrees next time we come in. And I'm like I never wanna come back!! so we finally get our food and my ancient grain pancakes aren't fully cooked. My friend never got creamer 30 mins after she asked for it so the table next to us let us borrow theirs! So the check comes and the manaer took my pancakes off but there is lemonade on there which we did not get. So I was like can we just use this card now cuz we're not coming back lol read more

This is our second time to the restaurant with the same great experience. We have tried the chicken and waffles which were very balanced with the sweet and savory and my wife who is from New Orleans says it was one of the best eggs Benedict she has had. The staff is attentive, polite and very courteous. We have been during the week which was busy but not overcrowded which I am sure is inevitable in our area with the colleges on the weekend. The French press coffee is worth going for alone. Everything has been very good, but the staff and there ability are better than any of the others in the area in our opinion.
