Been in NJ for about a month and I think this was some of the better food I have had and it's breakfast. Came in on a Sunday and there was a line but there is a 6 seats at the bar so I sat there. They was very busy with everyone heading to the beach. I the combo with French toast, eggs, potato's and bacon. The French toast was great. It's my fav breakfast item. Got my eggs sunny side up and love them. Mix the yolk with the potato's. Bacon was ok, asked for it crispy and came out Soso. They was busy so didn't say anything. This was the worst customer service experience I have had in a long, long time. After joining the waitlist online, we checked in, were told it would be 15-25 minutes and were 17th in line. 25 minutes later, we were told the same thing, even though the online system said no one was ahead of us. 25 minutes later we were told we had never checked in ... by the same young lady who "checked us in" the previous 2 times. We were seated after about an hour wait after our 1st check in. After 10 minutes our server - who explained she was training and it was her 1st day came to the table without the server training her. Needless to say, she didn't know the menu and needed to come back again to get details on our meal (this is not her fault, and who made the decision to have a trainee work her 1st day on a holiday without supervision). We did receive our food, but couldn't get a refill on my iced tea because our server never check in on us. I didn't see our actual server until I had completed my meal. I asked to see the manager. I explained all of this to the manager and she had zero empathy for our situation. Instead, she defended the ladies at the front and said the training server was one of her better servers. All she offered was a faint, half-hearted apology. I've worked as a server and can understand when someone is in the weeds. In this case, it was just horrible service, and a manager who didn't appear to understand what quality service is. The food was fine ... not sure if it is worth the hassle. read more

I've been to many Turning Points around NJ and this one fits right in. The decor, food, menu and vibe are all consistent. As soon as I walked into this restaurant, I knew I was in a Turning Point. I've been trying to order different things each time. Here, I ordered the pesto chicken panini sandwich with the tortilla chips and salsa. It was really good. I thought the panini bread could have been heated longer for a more crispy exterior but it was still pretty good. There wasn't a lot of pesto but the flavor came through. We visited during the off-season around 8am, so it wasn't too busy. The place is adorable--from the outside to the cozy interior, it's such a sweet spot for breakfast or brunch! The drinks menu is full of fun specialty options, and the food portions are huge (in the best way!). It looked like there was only one server working, so things moved a little slowly--about 15 minutes to get our drinks and another 20 for our food. All of our first time here. We went off-season thinking we would have no problem getting a table for lunch. We had to wait about 20+ minutes. Food was ok- we got mostly brunch for lunch during the weekday. The server was fine- the food was average. I wouldn't recommend the GF pancakes with strawberries and bananas, which unfortunately didn't taste like much to me -- just GF mush, which happens, not mad or anything. Such a nice location by the pier- we went on a weekday with practically no wait. We were seated immediately and had our usual selection from the menu (they also had seasonal items!) My omelette came with buttered English muffins and morning potatoes - such a big portion, and couldn't finish it all. I got the Tuscany omelette which contains bell peppers, spinach, chopped sausage and mozzarella. Some of my colleagues got the avocado toast, which was so refreshing, and others got another version of an omelette. Good atmosphere by the shore, and reasonable prices. Horrible experience and we didn't even taste the food. Was told 15mins wait that turned into 45 mins! We were very patient, but with a toddler on hand. it began to get a little too much to wait. Besides that, we watched tables outside have several "mistakes" such as waiting 20 minutes for utensils, no drinks, no check-ins from waiter, dirty table not cleaned for over 30 mins. Unfortunately we didn't stay after seeing the chaos and lack of care from hostess and staff in general. Such a shame ...hopefully they get it together before the real season starts. read more

Our visit started with walking in and not being greeted or acknowledged because the person at the host stand was chatting about where she and the 2 local cops grew up. Even just "we will be right with you." Would've been a positive start. It went downhill from there. There were at least 5 people working FOH but the service was like 1 person was working, in the weeds and could never catch up. They all seemed more concerned with resetting tables and not actually being a server. The food was eh, both of our meals did not come out hot but after waiting so long to be seated, to have our order taken and to finally get our food, we were just happy to be eating. Our omelette was super dry and the cheese on top wasn't melted. The French toast combo was probably the best deal on the menu. And the citrus dressed salad was great. A super quaint nautical style "diner" style restaurant in the main busy shopping strip of LBI. Food is freshly prepared, pretty tasty, and comes out quickly. The service is friendly and plentiful but a little slow after you place your order. Avocado toast and pancakes were just ok, a little dense and bland serving up generous portions. We came here on Labor Day Weekend around noon and told us the wait would be about an hour long. We went to a cafe to grab coffee and looked around the nearby stores, and within 30 minutes, our table was ready. Food: I usually like looking at photos or reviews about the menu items that I'm considering ordering, but unfortunately, I didn't see anyone on here review the shakshuka so I was a bit hesitant to order it. I was really in the mood for it though, so I still decided to get it. It was very yummy, I highly recommend ordering it! Their other menu items looked reallly good too, my friends loved their skillets! The shakshuka was nice and tomatoey with good flavors and seasonings coming through. The ciabatta was nice and warm, and it was perfect dipping the bread into the shakshuka. The poached eggs were nice and runny, and they added some vegetables to the shakshuka. The one thing I would change is I felt like there was a lot of goat cheese in the dish and I probably would've taken some off before mixing it in next time. I couldn't finish the meal, I was so full by the end. Service: Quicker wait than what we were expecting which was nice. The food came out quickly and the servers were really nice. They give you the option to pay with your phone, so that was really easy to do at the end of the meal. This is the best breakfast joint I've been to in a long time. Rarely do you encounter an establishment where the food is excellent and served in plentiful portions, and Turning Point is one of those rarities. The Avocado Toast was delicious and made good on the menu's description of "thick toast" (for real, "thick" is an apropos description rather than just a strategically selected adjective). The power grain pancake and chicken sausages were equally laudable. The only chink in the armor was the CrossFit Omelet as it was not an omelet at all but rather a crepe folded over vegetables. The Daisy cakes (silver dollar pancakes for kids) were uneven. My daughter's batch was fantastic whereas my son's batch tasted as though they were cooked in old fat. The real highlight were the drinks -- the Just Beet It was awesome and the S'mores Hot Chocolate featured a tower of whipped cream with chocolate drizzle and Graham cracker crumbs. The service was equally commendable. I was skeptical at first since the hostess didn't come to greet us at the waiting area for what seemed several minutes (five minutes can seem like an eternity when you have hungry toddlers); however, when she finally arrived, she took us to a very spacious booth that had no one seated near us, suggesting she recognized the need for space when you have kids. Similarly, the waiter was perfect. He was very friendly, prompt, patient, and attentive. The place was packed with people, yet he never had us waiting. He also knew to bring us the check as we wound down without having to ask (few things are as dreadful as those moments between your kids finishing their meal and waiting for the waiter to come by just so you can ask for the check), and he took care of the check immediately, bringing back a receipt seconds later. The overall ambiance of the place is much like an old school dinner. Somehow, you will feel paradoxically separated in your own space but also surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a morning breakfast. Cute brunch place serving lots of options. Pros: location - right off the main drag in Pier Village. Outside/inside seating. Cons: came in on a Monday morning. Not all the outdoor tables were set up and the host seemed hesitant to set a table outside but reluctantly did so. Brought out the silverware and napkins in cups and left it for us to set the table (we weren't the only ones sitting outside so it's not like we asked him to do anything special) Took a while for a server to acknowledge our table and bring water.
