The location is perfect and although I thought the service was really good, the only issue I have with turning point is the very small portions for a bit of a steep price. From Shakshukah to Lobster Benedict or Lobster Shrimp and Grits the high end options will hit the spot if your looking for a twist on breakfast staples. If you're looking for the standard fare, they have that too and some in between. Had a group of 8 with 4 kids and we all left happy. The bacon lollipops with apple inside were a table hit and the Shakshukah was my favorite (even if I didn't order it)! An added plus is that they serve your coffee or tea order in a carafe or press at the table so no having to track a waitstaff member to get a refill. The French press Jamaican blue mountain was a personal favorite of mine. Definitely worth a try and worth taking a trip to the area to check out. I was highly disappointed in turning point for the exceptionally slow service. I went with a party and the food was fine but some of the items were missing and when we asked about them, we were told they were out of parts of the order after our food had already come. If you're out of something, that's totally fine, we get that, but they didn't tell us until our food was already on the table. And the food came out first. It took 45 minutes for us to start receiving our drinks and not a single drink came before our food. And at least 3 of the drinks weren't correct and we had to ask for them to be fixed. There were also other items we asked for that never came like butter, a lid for one of the drinks, small things like that. I get that the servers were busy but it was a little ridiculous how long our drinks took and the server hadn't even come over to let us know what was taking so long. This place came recommended to us but is not somewhere I would recommend to others. read more

While the wait was about twenty minutes I have to say it was worth the wait. My wife had the GOAT Omelet without bacon sub Avocado and I had the Key West Omelet. Jordan was our Server who just didn't disappoint. She was on point offering suggestions and was there when we needed her but didn't hover at all. My Kona Coffee Press was tasty but don't forget to drink it as the water in a coffee press inherently cools versus an insulated carafe of coffee . The cup of fresh fruit was a nice add-on. Jordan and the Hosting Staff made us feel right at home. We were not rushed, we could have sat there all day. The food was served in a normal amount of time as was our water, juices and coffee. Solid 4.5. Our first time. January Sunday. Packed with a line. That alone says so much. We saw two open seats at counter. Key counter server was great. Even though 10:30 am, I wanted a Cubano sandwich. My friend egg rancheros. Well done plates presented. Good portions. People near us having cakes and bacon and other eggs. All looked amazing. Watched our counter server making amazing smoothies and teas. Prices extremely reasonable for what you get. And then you walk the gorgeous boardwalk. The lady at POS was absent for minutes -- we had to ask server at the restaurant to grab the lady. Coffee was terrible. Just terrible, coming from a coffee enthusiast. Pour over was done without any technique - the lady was literally just pouring it down through the filter. It did not capture any of the bean flavor. Whenever we are in the area of Pier Village, we don't miss a chance to have lunch at The Turning Point. The food is always so fresh and the portions are substantial. The service is superb as well. This time my husband enjoyed the Blueberry pancakes which came with warm maple syrup and marmalades of his choice, and I had the walnut cranberry chicken salad on a multi grain bread. Their outdoor tables are dog friendly, but dogs must stay on the opposite side of the fence. We found this very hard to do, especially if the area is busy with people! Anywhere else breakfast skillets come with a meat and veggies in the potatoes. I ended up just ordering a stack of pancakes, they were not really good. They were edible, but I would not order them again. Someone else at my table got the Huevos Rancheros omelet and they said it was good. I chose to go to the turning point over another brunch/breakfast place for the view and ended up watching the sidewalk washers instead of the ocean. They sprayed the windows with water and left the ground wet and filthy. I really don't feel like wading through dirty water to get to my car. The turning point is only open certain hours, why not wash the ground while patrons are not inside. We had to wait until they were done in order to leave. There are better restaurants in the area with better menus. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

I have never been to this part of New Jersey before and at every turn, I am delighted to discover new places like The Turning Point of Long Branch. My son lives in the area and recommended that we come here for breakfast. Well, even though we had some rough, rainy weather, I was completely impressed with Long Branch itself, on the water, a quaint area with quaint businesses across from the water and pier across the street. The Turning Point was perfect for an area like Long Branch. Walking in, I could not help to notice the bright, cheery and welcoming atmosphere. It was like we were invited into someone's dining room on the water. A small breakfast bar at the entrance with a dark wall unit behind it, with coffee machines and neat little decorations reflecting the type of area we were in, like the model sailboat surrounded by Halloween decorations for the time of year. Bright white walls, high ceilings and windows everywhere capture the light from the outside and coastal atmosphere, accented with wood floors and dark wood tables. There are different rooms as you walk around the dining area with white wood railings and a smaller room with a fire place surrounded by brick. Very warm and welcoming. The menu has different and interesting varieties of Skillets, Omelets, French Toast, Waffles and Pancakes. I mean completely creative and flavors on these dishes I have never seen. There is nothing left out on this menu for sure. The Skillets seem to be the highlight, though according to my son and his girlfriend. There is quite an interesting French Press Coffee Menu with types of coffee from different areas of the world, along with an Organic House Blend and different flavored coffees. We ordered the French Vanilla, served with the French Press and a little hour glass timer to let us know when we should press the grounds and serve it. Cute idea. So from what I have heard, it is the Skillet breakfasts and the Avocado Artisan Toast that my son and his girlfriend raved about that was special here, so naturally I ordered the Pesto Infusion Skillet, which was delicious. Fluffy Egg Whites, infused with Basil Pesto, with Avocado, tomatoes and onions, served in a white skillet. Nice portion too with an English Muffin. Delicious and with the Pesto Infusion was something I never have had before. We ordered the Avocado Artisan Toast to share, which was served on multigrain bread, tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil. I was a little disappointed with this dish because the Avocado did not seem fresh and chunky, but more like store bought guacamole. I was really surprised to see that. It was just ok. My son had the New York Deli Omelette, which had pastrami, cartelized onions and spinach, topped with Swiss cheese and a side of potatoes and English Muffin. Looked pretty hearty as well. I could come back here quite a bit and try some of those Waffle, French Toast and Pancake dishes for sure. I can't wait until the weather gets better, the sun comes out and this place really brightens up. On the flip side, I could see coming here on a snowy day and sit in the room with the fireplace and enjoy the outdoor winter surroundings coming in from all sides. I will definitely be back here, hopefully during different seasons. Beach brunch! After carefully analyzing the many menu options, we phone ordered pickup for the Avocado Mash Benedict & the Low Country Scramble. And some Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee... which was a big enough deal for dear husband to come out of his caffeine hiatus for. I walked over a short 15min later to see a bunch of people in line for an outdoor dining spot. So confused about they'd prefer to wait around here instead of sunbathing on the beach! Takeout is the way to go. Easy pickup, and they were courteous enough to fill my milk when I arrived (keeping it fresh) and gave me extra beverage holder to make it easier on my treck back. Super friendly despite being as busy as you can be with a pandemic going on. Food was messy (my fault for getting a benedict) but delicious. I gave up on utensils and ate my breakfast like a barbarian... smushed the whole thing in my mouth, sauce all over my face, but man was it worth it. The potatoes lapped up the rest of the buttery goodness until there was nothing left on my takeout box. Specifically asked for hollandaise sauce on the side and a wet poached egg. It arrived with almost a hard boiled egg on it and the sauce was all over it. Not only that it arrived without my food. 2 mins later when my food arrived he sent his back and asked for traditional egg Benedict. So I ate my eggs while hot while he had to wait for his. I thought so too so finally decided to steer away from my typical acai bowl breakfast while at long branch and have a more elaborate experience. Sit enjoy the rays and the view and some good eats. Unfortunately my palate was thoroughly disappointed and my patiences tested. Waited over an hour for my meal to come out, only to receive it cold. Yes cold eggs. And the waitress though apologetic was nowhere to be found. Finally she came by and I explained my food cane our cold. She said they would make me a new one. Not only did the second attempt come out cold again but the presentation was questionable! At that point I was afraid to eat and wishing I'd just gone with my acai bowl! From the chatter of the surrounding tables it was apparent other patrons were having similar problems with service. When I think brunch, I first think of Turning Point. This time, I went at 1pm on New Year's Day, so they were super busy. Even in the winter, Pier Village still brings in plenty of visitors; this is a hotspot all year round. As for the interior, I love the beach vibes and ocean color palette. There's indoor and outdoor seating, but it was January, so... inside we go. COFFEE: Their French press coffee is so worth a try. This time, I got the Kenyan AA blend. They give you a timer so that you have the honor to press it down when it's done! Quality coffee. FOOD: I get the Fruit Bruschetta every time. Mango + pineapple + strawberries on cinnamon pita... It's so refreshing. The pita is fresh and soft but crisp. For the main entree, I get the Wilbur skillet. Can't go wrong with potatoes, bacon, avocado, cheese, tomato, and eggs. The portion is not huge, but not small. I was able to finish it on top of the fruit bruschetta and I didn't go into a food coma after. The service is friendly and energetic, though sometimes I feel like they are running around and stressed. From my experience, the food came at a reasonable time, although nobody checked on us for the rest of the time until the check was dropped off (which was ok, we didn't need anything, but still). Since there was a queue and a half hour wait, we decided to sit at the bar and have breakfast there. Aberia, our server, was a sweety. We both ordered the French pressed coffee Hawaiian Kona flavored. There's enough in there for 4 cups of coffee of which Aberia suggested at the end of the meal that we put it in a "to-go" cup. I ordered the Grande Huevos Rancheros, A potpourri of Latino styled food on a wheat tortilla, with three poached eggs. My lady friend ordered a mixed seasonal fruit bowl, enough to her satisfaction. Lived around Long Branch for years but only recently discovered this place! This brunch spot is the best in town and neighboring area! Parking can be a hassle during the summer months because it sits right on the boardwalk-ish area, but during the off season, parking is free and easy to find. This place always seems to be packed even when neighbor restaurants are empty and the food speaks for that reason. Prices are very fair for the good quality and very tasty! Beware though, their sweets are definetly very sweet. Their caramel waffles are SO good but loaded with sugar, even a bit too much if i may say. Their salted caramel latte is also very good but sweet!! I do think that its a must try though- they sprinkle coarse salt on top of the whipped cream so you get that addictive sweet then salty flavor. Restaurant ambience wise, the interior is a cute beach town ish theme with young and kind staff. Came here twice - both times came here only because we wanted to grab food before heading out to the beach. The wait isn't too bad. The staff are pretty nice. Food pretty good but definitely on the pricier side. Parking sucks - you gotta find street parking, park at one of those grass lawns for the day, or at the garage. For a brunch place this place is on the classier side where everything is pretty polished. The staff is really friendly and nice (felt bad as one of the days I went, we were on the upper portion and one of the waitress fell and broke all the glass). Food comes out pretty quickly and the servers are pretty attentive. Overall, if you want to eat before heading out to the beach, this place is good!!
