This prompted me to drive 4.5 hours one way to see just 'what was what' at this shop... In their defense, one caliper did need to be replaced (as one wheel's brake was 'metal on metal'), the 4 rotors needed to be replaced (along with pads), and one stud/lug nut was cross-threaded. My daughter is a 20 year old who 'calls em like she sees em'. All I know for certain is that she didn't like this place. I told him 'not everyone in Clinton is rich' during a civil 'one on one' conversation outside. I asked him rhetorically, "With all due respect, $1100 for brakes??; What do you think the car is worth, $2000?" He replied, "Well, maybe a little more than that." He shrugged his shoulders and went back inside. It is a 12 year old very common sedan. I took the car elsewhere, on the outskirts of an east coast city... It turns out that the car also needed a new lower control arm (it had a cracked bushing), badly needed new spark plugs, and needed a new oil sender unit (which was leaking a lot). ALL of this additional work (plus all of the work quoted) was completed for $1000 elsewhere, (Parts and labor fully warranted, licensed mechanic, done within 24 hours) Do the math & good luck in selecting your repair shop.

Owners & brothers Ed and Paul are honest and fair in the work they do. There has been a couple of occasions I was ready to fork over major cash only needed tech work that was at a affordable price. Not only have I brought both my families vehicles to Auto Tech but they also helped me out with purchasing and rewiring my trailer with LED lights. They really can do it all, just give them a call. I brought my car to Glisson's for an oil change a few weeks ago. Yesterday, I was driving (long…read moredistance) and started smelling burning. I pulled into a gas station and found the oil was basically empty. I was surprised, as the oil change was so recent. I inspect further and find the oil filter has a major gash in the corner ... with oil stains around the gash. I add 2 quarts of oil and watch the filter. Sure enough, a drop of oil starts to form on the gash, eventually dripping. My question is: how could this have happened? The gash was way too big and obvious to not be noticed (on the edge where you grip w your hand). Did they knowingly install an obviously damaged oil filter? If so, why?? One theory (and this is only a guess, but I'm otherwise struggling to hypothesize a reason to give Glisson the benefit of the doubt here) -- I remember when I brought my car to them, I was under the weather, so as a courtesy to make sure I didn't spread whatever I had, I wore an N95 mask. The person at the shop looked at me weird like I was their political nemesis, so I explained that I was wearing it bc I was under the weather and didn't want to infect anyone else, but that didn't seem to change their disposition at all. Again, this is just a guess, but I truly cannot fathom why they would have installed a visibly obviously damaged oil filter on my car. (If someone can provide a valid hypothesis, I will delete this review.) Either way, my engine may have extensive damage due to driving without oil to the point it started burning. Arrggghhh.

It was a day-and-night difference from another shop I struggled with that week. In the other shop, I was told that the tire would be ready in next day (not available), then 3 day later (not available again) and a week later. In contrast, Big4 got the matching tire next day. .. really saved my week for this rather exotic car. I saw how they meticulous took care of the car. I asked them to use the exact torque (103 lbs-ft) for the wheel bolts, and I saw they hand fastened each bolt with a torque wrench! Then they put the exact air pressure (42 PSI, I didn't tell them but they got it from the door sticker). This 42 PSI pressure is very important for the safe operation of Polestar 2. Overall, they did everything timely (waiting time was very short), yet handled everything very professionally. Some other notes: ---Customer reception area was spacious, clean and welcoming. That space didn't have any "tire smell" that is commonly found in most tire shops. Actually the door had a sign, "don't bring a tire inside" so I could tell they try to make this space as nice as possible. There were two nice old water paintings decorating the wall, and many photos and the big wooden American flag and Big4 sign. I liked how they decorated the reception. ---I saw a firetruck being serviced at another slot. I didn't know a firetruck could be placed in a private shop like this, and that scene was kind of assuring that even a firetrucks being sent here for service. I am so happy to find this shop, and can recommend it to anyone.
