Don't do it. Staff follows you around. Not relaxing at all. Highly recommend skipping it altogether

You can get lucky and find some really great furniture too. I love that they have started giving donors a $5 off coupon when bringing in donations. I also love that they will come to your house to pick up any furniture that you want to donate but can't bring in yourself. They also have sales daily and post a calendar so you know what is on sale when. Clothes sales days can get very hectic! That being said I don't like donating too much here, as I feel they price items awfully high for people on limited incomes. It seems like they cater more to people with money who are just looking for a good deal. I prefer to take clothes to places that give it away to low income people. I know they take the money they make and help a lot of people in the community, so that's great, but I just wish some of the prices in store were a little more affordable. I frequently see housewares priced higher or the same as new items at retail stores.

While there are definitely some treasures and deals to be found, it's ultimately a downgrade in quality from the previous location, at least at the current time. I also want to note that despite loudly advertising that "all clothing is $2.98," they have a section at the front of higher priced clothing items. I admit I think this is a rather duplicitous business practice. It also seems random what clothes are put up there. Some of it was the same fast fashion that infests the rest of the clothing racks, while some finer materials and true vintage was languishing on the $2.98 racks. It just didn't make sense to me! It's worth a stop if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for Frugal's.

Located in a relatively safe section of town, Frugal's Family Thrift store is available to service…read moreall of your second-hand market needs. I found the parking lot to be depressing as if I was in the middle of no-where with civilization being hundreds of miles away. I'm just adding this point as it was the way I felt. That said, the staff friendly and most of the patrons were very nice. Please note Thrift stores are very hit or miss so going from week to week can result in a highly different experience. I'll be the first to admit, all thrift stores have a funky smell to them and I found Frugal's to be especially smelly; nothing to the point of unbearable but it lingers for the duration of the visit. Now in terms of being what do they offer, well pretty much everything and anything. Furniture, clothing, toys, books, CDs/DVDs, cookware, you name it. I found the kitchen section in terms of pots, pans, mixers and things of that nature to be very sparse while their main attraction was clothing. Off in the back right, one can find a small furniture section with some decent to horrible offerings. I liked some of the books they had and was extremely tempted to pick something up since I found many that perked my interest. Their music selection had me laughing as I noticed a couple odd bands from the 80s, 90s and beyond which I don't think anyone would buy. Color Me Bad anyone? I don't recall seeing much for motorized lawn equipment but I was in and out relatively quickly. Overall, thrift stores have a very particular clientele and subculture. I'm pretty sure if you're reading this you know how things go, so I'm not going to try and upsell you, rather give you the thumbs up to come on by and see what they got. It's safe and the people are nice while have a very large floorspace open to many different reasonably priced objects.

Even being aware of their leanings, I'm consistently reminded that I'm better off just throwing stuff away. Go to a thrift store in a poor part of town, skip the ReStore. I love the concept, but I must say that I had an unpleasant donation experience…read more I called the Restore donation coordinator, and confirmed that they would accept 16 of the doors I removed from the house I'm renovating. I followed up this conversation by sending a picture of the doors to the coordinator, who said they were interested in the doors. I was going to arrange for their free pickup, but it turns out this is quite inconvenient. They schedule based on your zip code, which dictates the day of pickup. Then, the pickup window is the entire day. So you have to be home and waiting for the pickup on a random weekday, the entire day. If you work, you just can't make this work. The lady told me that instead, you can drop off the doors at the donation center. Today, I borrowed a trailer, loaded up the doors, and took them to the store. At the store, the man told me at that he could not take my doors, without even looking at them. They don't want doors, they can't sell doors, and they definitely can't take as many doors as I brought with me. Not to mention, the man was standoffish and acted like my bringing in a donation was an inconvenience or something. This would be fine with me if I had not already been told they wanted them and to bring them in. So yeah, pretty hard to make a donation to this place. It was a waste of time this afternoon, and it's a shame these matching doors in decent condition now have to go to the dump.

In the last 6 months they removed the best feature in the store, the unsorted shopping carts in the back. It was nice to get to hunt through a few carts, like a real treasure hunt. No more. Gone. Those were the best bargains, and I'd spend over $50-60 easily each week. Since the carts ended, they've been making the store more like a boutique, and I'm not convinced it's a good idea. This seems to be the trend for these thrift stores, perhaps it's to get more money from the donated goods, but they are pricing out a lot of their customers in my opinion. There are still bargains, but it's less and less common to come across lately.. Overpriced items sit for months in the showcase, and they never apply the color tag discounts to items in that case. I've seen the same 4 gaudy german hiking medals at $10 each (they were $15 for a long time) relegated to the bottom of the case, in a heap, on some sort of overpriced little china plate. Overpriced items sit, until they do a large sale (like 50% off white tags) once every few months, or they get repriced and moved around the store. I saw a $1.99 Star Trek game sitting by the toys, I came back 2 days later, it was in the showcase and priced at $19.99 - it was worth $10 on eBay once upon a time, and that was 4-5 years and 3 computer generations later. Someone needs to clue the staff in to how to price things, and not just look on eBay for the latest asking price. If you want to price donated goods at the eBay asking price, you're asking for a lot of your customers to head to City Thrift, Red Racks, or Goodwill. Also, it's been a year. Please pave your parking lot. There are potholes 4 ft x 4 ft wide just inside the entrance on Lamar. It's getting ridiculous. Update: They re-paved the lot and put some 25c bins in the back, an improvement!

So I looked through the various racks of clothing and women's purses, etc. I ended up purchasing two sport tank tops. One was a Nike and another one was an Eddie Bauer. After the 40% off, I believe my purchase came to around $12. They have a wide selection of clothing, but quite a few of it was not my style. I believe this shop is for women that are probably late 30s and older. I tend to buy more clothing that is current with the trends as long as they look nice on me and I only saw a few jeans and a couple shirts that looked a little bit more modern. The shop was busy and the sales lady was exceptional in helping anyone that needed it. I would say the reason I did not give it a five star, is that there were several shirts that I looked at and I was interested in but they had stains on them. The clothing looked clean and pressed, but they probably should not have accepted those items for resale. This is a resell women's clothing store. It seems like they have quite a few 40 to 50% off sales. When I was checking out, she was telling me that there was going to be a 50% off sale the next day.
