We saw a vacant space, so we grabbed it. It was right in front of a cool little art shop called Sedona's Tree House. Poking your head through the door is enjoyable in and of itself. It's as if you've met up with the Ents of Fangorn Forest (The Hobbit) and have been carried into a magical treehouse dream, with a giant tree climbing up through the middle of the shop. The shelves are cleverly designed from beautifully rough cut and masterfully finished planks held up in some cases with what seem to be branches growing out from under them. Hand crafted Kokopelli wind chimes, nature inspired table and wall art, and various artsy knickknacks of all sorts are beautifully displayed throughout this cozy little treehouse-themed shop. We ended up buying a beautiful sun-themed wind chime for only $25 that we're looking forward to putting up in our courtyard when we get home!

First of all, we are visiting Arizona because our 19 year old was diagnosed with multiple brain and spine tumors in late September and this is the only break we had to take as a family before we begin a series of tests and treatment over the course of months. Secondly, my husband and I are the type that like to try to support local shops and when we spend time in them, usually buy at least something in support. When we walked into Cleopatra Hill Gift Shop, our 6 year old found a small children's finger puppet book, sat down on the floor, and asked me to read it while his older brothers and father looked around the shop at other souvenirs. I was grateful to finally not be chasing him around asking him not to touch certain items and began happily reading the overpriced 5 paged toddlers book to him. We turned to the last page and I prepared to buy the book for him a a reward for his behavior until I heard the words "You can't finish the book unless you pay for it first." I turned around to see the owner staring directly at my son from behind the counter. She then looked at me, who was just standing there in shock and dumbfounded, not able to tell if she was joking or serious at this point, and then said in a nasty tone to me "Are you deaf?" In turn I asked her if she was joking. Her response was that she wasn't a library. At this point, I absolutely didn't buy the book from her and will make sure I let everyone I know of our experience in her store. My son began crying and I grabbed his hand and we left. I have never been in such shock.

They had a booth at the Sleigh Winter Market, and I'm so happy I asked if they had opened back up! Yes, they are back in business full-time! ZANI always has had a great variety of cards, but they are so much more! I love their jewelry, especially! I popped in for some last minute, holiday gifts, and they even boxed them up with a festive bow. I should've taken a picture before my friends unwrapped their gifts, which they loved by the way. I am going back this week for a switch plate that I fell in love with! Everyone is always helpful and they have a diverse selection of items, so you're sure to find that perfect item for yourself, or for a gift.
