Doctor Kelly Tran is awesome! She's probably the friendliest optimist I've ever met. Her whole staff too. You'll feel comfortable and welcomed right as you walk through the door. There's lots of good frames to choose from, and for lenses they now have the blue light filtering contacts. She'll even give you some trial ones so you can try them out first. I also always go for the $35 photo that's taken of the back of the eye. It's not much to pay, and it's a great preventative measure. Rarely do I feel compelled to write a review about a doctor's office but I have been a patient of Dr. Tran's for over 7 years! I originally picked this location because I lived across the street but have since been returning to this office because I enjoy the product selection. There's always a change in product which keeps me excited every time it's time for my annual check up. I recently moved away from Irvine but because I was unhappy with LensCrafters and Costco, I found myself driving all the way back here because of their service. Now it sounds pretty far fetched to think I'd drive over 70 miles just to try on different glasses. But what really prompted me to do it was Emily and her hospitality. She works at the front and has been a joy to work with every time I come in for a visit. Last week, I was particularly frustrated with my experience at LensCrafters. I seriously doubted their ability to provide me with a great deal AND they cost a significant amount more than other retailers. Having nobody else to turn to but my old doctor's office, I gave them a call 5 minutes before closing. Emily took the time to look up my account and prescription and provided me with their pricing with my insurance factored into it. That level of customer service alone was the very reason why I decided to drive back to Irvine to purchase my next set of glasses. She didn't have to stay on the phone after the office was closed, but she was happy to answer all of my questions and was so kind about it. Mind you, I could have gone to Costco and paid significantly less without even using my insurance but I was so grateful for her help that I was eager for this office to receive my business for another year. Upon arriving, I was so shocked by the variety of frames available. It was my first time seeing Fendi, Prada, and even Loewe there. Notable mentions include Gucci, Persol, Oliver Peoples, and Cartier. Emily took the time to consult my decisions and even assisted in finding me cheaper alternatives that fit my face shape better. Of course, we ended up with the most expensive frames, but that was on me and certainly not on her. I really appreciated the non-sales aspect of it because at LensCrafters they wouldn't even let me see their non-designer collection because they just wanted me to buy the most expensive frames... a little service goes a long way! I'm extremely happy with my service as I have been for the last 7 years. While I can't promise I'll continually return since I live way further than down the street, it's nice to know that even though I'm not in Irvine anymore, they continue to elevate their product and their service year after year. My clear, round, plastic frames broke after 3 years. I wanted to find the same ones but wasn't expecting it to be so difficult! After stopping at Warby Parker, Ray-Ban, Macy's, and multiple Lenscrafters stores in one weekend, I was losing hope at finding a pair. I went on Yelp and called multiple Optometry offices near me. None of which had any that matched the description I wanted. Until!!! I called Tustin Market Place Optometry. The doctor picked up and after placing me on a brief hold, she came back and told me they had a pair of clear, round plastic frames in the exact price range I was looking for. I went into the store that same day, but the pair they had on display had solid, colored temple bands (which was what most stores had). Emily, the assistant, then checked her computer and was able to pull up a pair of frames that looked just like the ones I want. They were PERFECT! She was so helpful in helping me and patiently answered all of my questions regarding my insurance benefits. I was there for a couple of hours. She even helped me after I left the store. I was placing calls back and forth between her and my current optometry office to make sure I was getting the correct lenses ordered. I just went in yesterday to try on the frames, and I am happy with them! I'm currently waiting for them to complete the prescription lenses, so I'll update my review once I get them :) All in all, I've been so very pleased with my experience at Tustin Market Place Optometry. Their office has exceeded all of my expectations. Their staff is friendly and so helpful! -- UPDATE 12/11/20: I received my new frames about a week ago, and as soon as I tried them on in the office, I knew they were perfect! I think I like them more than my old ones that I had purchased from Urban Outfitters three years ago :) I was a little bit concerned about an adjustment period needed because in the past, I had tried on prescribed glasses in other offices and felt dizzy. These were perfect! The staff provided me with a lens cleaning spray, which I've never received before in other offices. They also provided me with a lens wiping cloth and an eyeglass case. One star - for the front desk staff who were excellent in returning phone calls and getting me an appointment I really wanted to like this place. As a female Asian-American myself, I wanted to support the doctor and this business. However, my experience was not great. In November 2023, I came and got my eyes checked and received a new prescription. I ordered new glasses through Zenni (a reliable site I've been using for years) and I wore them for days. The new lens felt weird and heavy but I know eyes take time to adjust so I gave them a chance and kept wearing them (even though they gave me a headache every time). After 4 days, I gave up and decided to go back to my old pair since it was unbearable. Usually, my eyes only take a day to adjust despite the increase in the prescription. I went back to the dr. to get my eyes rechecked cause I knew the prescription was off. The dr. asked for the new pair of glasses but I didn't have them cause I had to return them to get a full refund. She ended up checking my eyes and she got the same measurement. She didn't do anything different. I told her I wasn't seeing 100% clear, but she said that's because the lens from her machine were dirty. The vibe was different and the dr. made me feel like it was an inconvenience to see me again. She kinda laughed in my face too when she got the same measurement (rude). She also blamed it on Zenni saying maybe they messed up the glasses but I've been using this site for years and I've had no problem. I accepted it and didn't fight for it cause I wanted to get out of there because of the vibe. I knew I had to get a second opinion. I ended up getting my eyes rechecked at Booth Optometry at Tustin and of course, I was right. The dr. gave me the correct prescription. We compared the two prescriptions and the previous prescription was off. Comparing the two doctors, the dr. at Booth Optometry was more detailed and took the time to listen to my concerns. Save yourself the hassle and consider other places. To the dr. in this place, please improve your patient interaction skills and professionalism. I wouldn't come back and take time out of my schedule if I didn't think the prescription was off. It was an inconvenience to me too. Try not to be dismissive of patient concerns. read more

We had been going to Dr. Kleinberg for years, so it was nice when Dr. Tran was there during his transition into retirement last year. Dr. Tran is very personable and professional. She made sure I fully understood the tests and test test results from my eye exam. She took the extra time to make sure all my questions were answered and what I should expect from the front office. I appreciate the discount that I was given because of a mishap with my last pair of glasses...I left them on my bed and my 5' 9" teenage daughter did a belly flop and landed on them. I've been coming to this office for over a decade. The practice was taken over a couple years ago by Dr. Kelly Tran O.D & she's just as great as Dr. Kleinberg was. There's now even a Yelp check in deal for a free second pair of lenses. This can only be applied for those not using insurance though. They have lots of really good frames to pick from. From affordable, to Gucci. I'm very picky about eye glass frames...luckily I'm always able to find the ones I want here. They can also show you all the available options on their computer catalog. So if you like a frame shape, but not the color that they have there in the office, they can show you every color that's available & order it for you. I highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a good eye doctor. I'm sure I'll be coming back here for many more decades to come. read more

My daughter and I both found great frames and she's only 11 ( I'm considerably older). Not even a patient here. Stopped by to see if missing screws on my sunglasses could be replaced. Had same said screw come out and replaced elsewhere the week before and was expecting that be an ongoing problem. Meagan was able to get my sunglasses fixed in 30 minutes and also tightened all the other screws just in case. I was really happy they were able to just get that done as a walk-in and they didn't even charge me. Unexpected pleasant surprise! Glasses are feeling super sturdy. Love this place! Ortho-K is a great option if you don't want glasses getting in your way or contacts randomly drying up throughout the day. You wear Ortho-K contacts at night, and take them out in the morning, and voila! Perfect vision all day! I'm surprised it's not more popular! Just soak them in special solution for at least 6 hours (or until nighttime when you put them on). I've worn ortho-K contacts for more than 15 years, so can confirm it's done wonders for me. I moved and had to find a new optometrist, and Dr. Tran has been amazing. Highly recommend!! read more

I've now been a patient of Tustin market Place optometry for two years, in fact I took my daughter there when she came to visit just to get her eyes checked because of the great service and staff. Dr. Tran is extremely careful and cautious with her patients. I must say the renovation their doing looks amazing , in fact I asked why and they explained it had not been done in 12 years and in order to get some of the nicer brands it was required. It was not messy or dirty , in fact they are almost done and it looks amazing. I came here for an eye Exam and the reception wearing glasses was exceptionally helpful. She was patient and helped me figure things out with my insurance policy. Kelly Tran was pleasant and kind - the eye exam was among the shortest I've ever had so I walked out with a bit of skepticism. As I was leaving the office, I realize I wasn't given my prescription so I walked back to the store and requested for it. The other receptionist told me the optometrist hasn't signed it yet and asked if she could email me my prescription. I said yes and checked my email for the prescription three hours later. I was on my way to Costco to purchase my glasses and noticed they haven't emailed me my prescription. I called in and reminded the receptionist to email me the prescription, the receptionist did not apologize for the delay but said she would would email it to me. I checked my email forty minutes later and I still didn't receive my prescription. I called in again and this time I was told that prescriptions are emailed at the end of the work day. I was already at Costco, and I didn't want to have to return because someone wasn't doing their job. After a little back and forth, they were able to accommodate me and I was able to put in my order for my glasses. I have never had an issue getting my prescription immediately after my appointment. I am very disappointed that I had to call in twice for something that should have been given to me immediately. read more

It's unfortunate that Dr. Kleinberg is such a nice doctor. I really thought I scored on finding a nice optometrist; unfortunately that was not the case. I came in for my first appointment a few months ago. I used my insurance to bill for the exam for glasses and frames and paid out of pocket for the contact lens exam. After the exam, the doctor asked if I can get a hold of my old contact lens prescription and forward to him. Although it was the first ever, and an odd request, I did so. My glasses prescription was not clear. When I called their office to ask, he said that's normal, especially if I'm used to contacts so just wait for the contacts. First it took several weeks to get my prescription. Once I received it, I ordered my contacts online and was really excited to finally be able to see clearer again. Not the case. The prescription wasn't any different but I just assumed my eyes were just bad period. So months go by and I continue to squint at the computer. Finally I decided I needed to get my eyes checked again even though it's only been 3 months. This time, I look at my prescription to see what it was and see how bad it was from before Dr. Kleinberg. Shockingly, I was in disbelief. The prescription that Dr. Kleinberg wrote for me was the exact same prescription that I gave to him from my other optometrist. So instead of giving me my exam and prescribing me a valid prescription, he took my money, and gave me a prescription that another doctor validated. it's very had to believe that being a diabetic my eyes did not get worse in a year. Especially when I was noticeably having vision problems. SMH. You should be ashamed of yourself Dr. Kleinberg. I will report you to the State Board because this is unethical. Moreover, I will ensure that Vision Source, Vision Expo West, Academy of Optometry and all the other Vision Associations are aware of your business practice,, as I work for an Ophthalmic Medical Device company and have access to all of them. read more

This is a ZERO review not 1. I never really had to write a bad review. But Omg! Where do I begin? My 10 year old and I left this place with anxiety, no glasses and spending $693. My daughter had her glasses ordered here which took like a month. And it was just extremely strong. She couldn't see anything, felt really weird. We have tried for a week to see if she gets used to it, but nothing. We are talking about my kids vision. It's not a joke. We went there to check prescription. Omg this Kelly Tran was a completely different person than the time before. She was angry to begin with, and refused to even check to see if it was wrong glasses or wouldn't even listen. Keep asking my daughter questions and telling her you have to give time and get used to it. Are you kidding me? She even told her she can't refund anything. She is 10, with selective mutism which is social anxiety. Kelly wouldn't listen to me, she wanted verify if I was telling the truth by asking my 10 year old kid. She was torching an answer from my kid so she could hear it's fine. My kid was terrified. I said I'm right here, talk to me. With Kelly's angry behavior I didn't feel comfortable in that room so we left. So we don't have glasses, and we left with anxiety and we lost $693. Which they refuse to refund. She told me do whatever you want I don't care. No refund. Don't get me wrong, she is super nice with you, until something goes wrong. Little extra nice if you know what I mean. Total evil woman. Is she a real doctor? Kelly, this is how it works, when we go to other normal eye doctor, and tell them this doesn't feel right, they say, oh I'm sorry, let's check again, and get you the right prescription and we will work with you until you are comfortable with your vision. That would have been the proper, professional approach. I will never ever even go to even that shopping complex, we are so terrified. It's sucks they won't refund me anything so now I have to spend money again. They called after a day to drop the glasses so she can change. Are you kidding? After all these, I can't trust you with my precious child's vision. I don't even feel comfortable going there to be honest. I will be reporting them for giving wrong prescription and their behavior to the State Board and will make the insurance companies are aware of this unethical business. I can't say enough about Dr. Tran. She is thorough, professional, and very friendly. She takes time to get to know you and explains everything. Her staff is well organized and efficient. They also have a very nice selection of frames. I had mentioned to Dr. Tran that I teach at a predominantly Vietnamese school and that we hold an annual Lunar New Year celebration at our school. I had mentioned how much I admired the traditional clothing. To my surprise, when I went to pick up my contacts, there was a special gift waiting for me... it was a beautiful Ao Dai!
