If you value your time, skip this place. 1st time: reception made a mistake with my appointment 2nd time: went inside Costco not realizing they have construction and changed location. asked 3-4 people before realizing it's in the back now. Phone staff didn't notify me. Then once i found the mobile office in the back of Costco, staff spent 10 min asking me to fill out a form and asked me tons of question and told me my insurance is "inactive"?! (which i found out is false) I called my insurance and they told me that's incorrect and I am active. I went to the other Costco for eye exam and other eye exam/optometry office found me in 1 min. Wow, such a different level of service from 2 different office. The admin and level of customer service here is awful. wasted my whole afternoon and had me unnecessary on my the phone with my insurance . Just go to the other Costco and skip this location. read more

I recently retired in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. I hadn't had a vision exam since I retired, and I was overdue for an appointment. I am a Costco member and a huge fan of the store, so I decided to have my vision checked by the independent Optometrist located in the store. This would allow me to have my exam, and then take advantage of the great prices in Costco's optical department. On the day of my appointment I was greeted by the friendly receptionist and given paperwork to fill out for my first visit. After checking in, I was seated in front of a machine which scanned my eyes for baseline vision correction. Pretty cool technology which made the actual exam much more productive. Within a short amount of time, Dr. Nguyen called me into the exam room to discuss my vision options. Dr. Nguyen was very professional, friendly and helpful in determining the type of contact lenses that would meet my needs. The doctor next "dialed in" my vision on the machine and wrote my prescription for both glasses and contacts. She was exceptionally helpful and patient in setting up my mono-vision contact lenses permitting me to try different strengths. After my exam i was escorted back to the receptionist for billing and also provided a copy of my prescription. This experience was much different from many of my optometrists were I had to specifically as for my prescription or they would not provide it. I found the overall experience to be excellent and will definitely be coming back for my future exams. read more

So happy I was able to be seen here! I was in need of an eye exam and luckily when I called they were able to book me in the next morning. Not only was the staff at the front super welcoming but they were very thorough with explaining the eye imaging procedure. The atmosphere and energy here made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Once I was able to be seen by Dr. Nguyen, she gave the same excellent service which honestly made me so happy that I chose to come to this vision center than the Costco closer to me (based on reviews)! She was welcoming, kind, and explained everything I was seeing and answered my questions with such patience. Thank you to the whole staff for being very kind, helpful, and efficient! This is my optometrist, I've been here twice, once for exam and once for follow-up. Both visits were quick and easy. It's a new independent optometrist's office and is inside the original Tustin Costco, which prior to mid 2016 never did have an optometrist inside. Now they do! They test your eyes for nearsightedness (distance), reading, astigmatism, peripheral, glaucoma, and a few other things. Without insurance it cost me $95 for an exam for glasses + contacts (I do not have vision care insurance from my employer) which is a few dollars more than I've paid before, but it was quick and convenient and close to my home so I can't really complain. I forgot my glasses and had in my old contact lenses, which is not recommended! But they were still able to fit me in and do the exam even without it. They also offer to take a picture inside your eye which I passed on because I already had my eyes dilated for this a few months earlier. When I went back for an optional (free) follow up appointment a few weeks later, they were able to check the prescription on my glasses and check me again for reading vision because I was concerned about this. Then I went 5 feet away to the Costco Optical for ordering contact lenses during the same trip. Super convenient. Their hours are the same as Costco's operating hours, but always call ahead and make an appointment to make sure, although they do try to take walk-in patients too most days. read more

Had the opportunity of seeing Dr. Nguyen at the optometry location at the Irvine Marketplace. The upside is that it's close to home and there are a lot of openings for appointments. Now usually I take that to be a bad sign because that means that not many people visit this optometrist, but when I came by for my appointment I found that it was still relatively busy considering the small size for an office. The appointment itself was pretty straightforward. I got a pair of eyeglasses and was also fitted for contact lenses. I think one of the most difficult parts about going to an optometrist is being honest about what you need, what you like, and how much you can afford. For me, I had dropped a pretty penny for Tiffany glasses so I wasn't really considering daily contact lenses when I knew that I rarely wore contacts in the first place. I love that Dr. Nguyen is very sweet. There's also the added bonus that she's actually from my hometown and her children also went to the same high school I attended. Overall, I would highly recommend coming to her. I always prefer building a rapport with my doctors and can see myself as a long-time customer here. (49/100 -- 2018) read more

She was so pleasant and professional, and performed a wonderful exam on both of us (complete with all the new technology!) Very fast and friendly service. Second Eye exam Ive gotten at a costco and first time with Dr. Nguyen. I did not feel talked down to in anyway. The office was clean, had modern equipment and I was seen within 5 minutes of my appointment. They accept Card and have a modern card reader. I would come to Dr. Nguyen again. read more

This is Costco El Camino Real's optometrist. I had an awful experience with them! The eye doctor is not very competent, she gave an incorrect prescription (I went to a different optometrist afterwards to get a new prescription). The optometrist (Dr. Nguyen) did not give a thorough exam, it took five minutes and she was very arrogant when I felt that the contact lenses were the wrong prescription and refused to check again. The front office lady laughed at me when I tried on contact lenses for the first time in years since I didn't get them in right away. Don't go here, they don't care to help you and won't even pretend to care. Glasses exam: $55, contact lens exam $95, +astigmatism $115. You will get MUCH better service for this price almost anywhere else. Don't trust your eyes and prescription to this place. read more
