I love this station. It's laid out so well with a multi-story parking garage for commuters and a short-term lot. A cab pick-up line is situated near the public bus depot for convenience. The announcements are clear and unfuzzy. the grounds are landscaped well and it's always clean. If you get munchy there's a Subway and AMPM just steps away. The one drawback is that there's only one ticket machine. Get there early on the weekends or just get the app already! It's easy.

Public transportation gives me anxiety. Good thing I don't live in San Francisco or LA!! Nevertheless I like to keep an open mind about things. The opportunity presented itself when I needed to meet up with my friend in LA on a random Monday after work. Taking the Metrolink was the best case scenario so I downloaded the "Metrolink" app and purchased my ticket on the app to save myself some time. The ticket needs to be used within 24 hours, so don't buy it too early. The Tustin Metrolink Station is pretty easy to find. They have a parking structure with ample parking and a 72 hour limit if you choose to leave you car there. There are only two tracks so depending on your destination, you would wait on the corresponding tracks. Track 1: Anaheim, Anaheim Canyon, Buena Park, Commerce, Fullerton, LA Union Station, North Main Corona, Norwalk/Santa Fe Spring, Orange, Riverside-Downtown, Riverside-La Sierra, San Bernardino, Santa Ana, West Corona Track 2: Irvine, Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo, Oceanside, San Clemente, San Clemente Pier, San Juan Capistrano I enjoy how punctual this method of transportation is. I like being early so being on time is not a problem with me, but I have heard of others who miss their train since they were a minute or two late. The train stops very briefly and quickly takes off again. My first time taking the metrolink alone was not too bad. I found a seat that had a table so I was able to lay out all of my make up. Putting on eyelashes while the train was turning was quite a struggle, but I overcame it. After I did my make up I had time for some shameless selfies, then I was basically at the LA Union Station already to meet up with my friend. What a quick trip!! I probably won't make this a habit, but I like having it as an option. The only reason why I took away one star is because I saw TWO cockroaches here!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!! The first time I saw one on the wall of the pedestrian underpass getting to Track 1 and the second time when my friend was dropping me off at my car in the structure. I screamed so loud she thought something happened... ... oops... I can't help it. I'm afraid of creepy crawlers.

This is one of the most convenient train stations in the OC!! I rode the train ever since 2009 mostly from Tustin to Los Angeles, Union Station and return so I really liked to commute via train! There is a Jack in the Box and a Subways/76 Gasoline/Petrol station that opens 24 hours 7 days a week, like at the airport! There are 2 automatic train ticket machines; sometimes one of them didn't work but you can come there around night time when no one is there to buy it! Tracks wise there are just 2, one going Southbound, one going Northbound. However, the Southbound/Eastbound train will take you to San Bernadino County near where Palm Desert is. Then the westbound train will also take you all the way to Santa Barbara or San Jose! There are 7 different railway lines: Antelope, Orange County, San Bernadino, San Diego/Pacific Liner(Amtrak), Ventura, San Jose, and Oxnard. You will catch the Metrolink train there. Metrolink will take you only to LA Union Station. Metrolink are early morning ones, from 5:00--9:00...9:00 is the last train before 14:00 in the afternoon. Then Amtrak doesn't stop there, it stops in Santa Ana and Irvine Stations.

    - Served by: Metrolink - Orange County Line, Inland Empire-Orange County Line - Weekend service? Yes - Connecting transit? Some on OCTA, Irvine Shuttle - Restrooms? No - Indoor waiting area? No - Staffed? No It's a nice station, for being unmanned. It's a bit isolated, being tucked behind a gas station and auto service plaza. There are two tracks running between the platform. Track 2 (southbound to Oceanside) is along the parking lot and next to the ticketing machines. Track 1 (northbound to LA or SB) are accessed via underground tunnel to the other side. Parking is gets crowded, but there doesn't seem to be any time restrictions. Of note, there is morning service TO John Wayne Airport via OCTA; there is return service in the evening. Some of the buses stop right at the station, but others will require a walk out to Edinger. If you're waiting, unlike a lot of stations there are actual eateries nearby, including a gas station/convenience store and a Jack in the Box.

Nice clean station with free parking. I like that they have a $10 all day pass on the weekends. Got on the metro for the first time and took it all way to Los Angeles Union Station. Estimated time was 1hr and 30min. We got there in 55min. Can't complain. Train was very clean and had enough seating downstairs and upstairs. I will take advantage of $10 deal again.

Ask the Community - Tustin Metrolink Station

Can I leave my car here over the weekend? I have a monthly Metrolink pass and use the train to get from San Diego to Tustin daily. I just bought a car to take to and from the train station to my office. Can I keep it here Friday evening- Monday morn?

Hi Julia. There is a 72-hour limit on parking, so you should be fine with that itinerary. Keep in mind other arrangements for holiday weekends, vacation, etc. that would keep your car there past the 72-hour limit.

Do you feel safe leaving your car here overnight? I want to commute but am scared about theft or vandalism

We have felt safe leaving our car in the station over night until this past weekend. Someone stole the front two tires off of the car and left it sitting on a jack. We are now working to get tires, so that the car can be moved, as the car only… Read more

Do they even check tickets once on board?

You're near the friggin' airport! True, but the Spectrum area gets all the attention. They have the train station, they have the cool shopping area. Sure, we're close to south coast, and we have all those nifty protected right turns here, but public transportation from outside of Irvine kind of sucks for those of us that work or are starting to live here. Plus, we don't have things like those Grade 1 bike trails that are available to the spectrumites (i.e. San Diego Creek). Not no more. Irvine recently got fundage from OCTA to start this nifty little shuttle service that runs on 3 routes: the A - Route going from Tustin Metrolink to John Wayne the B - Route going from Tustin Metrolink to Jamboree/Michelson (Pacific Park Shopping Center) the C - Route which runs around the heart of the IBC in a circle like a 5 year old manchild on a couple of pixie sticks. So, it doesn't go EVERYwhere, but it can get you close enough to where you're going if you're a commuter (like moi) who's trying to drive less. Since it's a new service, everything is... well, new. The shuttles are nice and clean. They look like those "special" school buses, the type that almost look like they would do well in a "Mad Max" futuristic world with spikes and what not. I think the Bike Rack at the front really helps with that image. Oh yeah, they have bike racks, so you can pedal your way from your stop to your work/play area if you so desire. Really useful for those that pedal their way to Metrolink too. All in all, I like it. Right now, rides are free until Sept 1st 2008. Afterwards, the fee to ride breaks down like this: $1.00 Boarding During Peak Period (5:30a - 9:30a and 3:30p - 7:30p on Weekdays) $.50 Boarding During Off-Peak Period (9:30a - 3:30p Weekdays & All Day Saturday and Sunday) FREE Riders Presenting Valid Metrolink Pass/ Ticket for Rider Connecting to and from Tustin Metrolink Station Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars? Limited run times (along with the limited train service Metrolink provides). I'd like to see more service (but that also goes with my want to see more trains). However, for a start, it's not bad =)

Caught the Amtrak Surfliner from Santa Ana to Old Town San Diego. While the ride was great, this train station was a bit of an adventure. Signage is not really clear about where to go, especially if you've never been here before. Restrooms were all closed. Could not find any guard or employee to answer any questions. You have to walk outside to see the screen that shows you train times and track number, but of course, that is after you've meandered around the actual station looking for information. Obviously this is a heavily traveled line (for both Metrolink and Amtrak), so you would think that there would at least be someONE there to assist travelers. Truly, it looks deserted when you enter, almost as if you've stepped back in time to see what an old train station looks like. Disappointed, and as a new traveler that has never used this station before, I felt very lost and a little creeped out.

The fountain there still looks beautiful. I heard that security is getting really tough here, and not nice. From what I hear this is because of people needing shelter, and electricity sources are frequent in this particular location. 30 years ago, I recall actually someone having their honeymoon or wedding pictures here ! It's still a beautiful façade. it needs a lot of TLC, money going into it to bring it into its glory again. Its present situation is disheartening. I'll check in a few months to let you know my observations, & reconstruction progress.
