We did a trial month. Everyone was very friendly and we love the location. Not too expensive either. However, it wasn't right for our 3 year old, there just wasn't enough dancing and movement. Of a 45 minute class, 10 minutes is dedicated to coloring, that didn't sit well with our daughter who just wants to move. Sadly, it isn't our school, as our daughter wanted more. We'd give it another try if she wants to but for now we're trying other schools. read more

I love Tutu School Lomg Beach! I signed my daughter the moment she hit the age requirement (18months) and honestly it has been the best decision. My daughter looks forward to attending every week. I have noticed a difference in my daughters behavior such as she has learned patience and increased social skills. Dont get me started on the instructors. They are the most patient instructors EVER! Lets admit, dealing with toddlers is a handful. These instructors go above and beyond interacting with their students. My daughter has classes with Ms Kate, and we love her! This place is great if you want your kiddo to dip their toe in ballet. The classes are 45 min and for the first month, you get to bring your little dancer multiple times so they can get used to the instructor and the environment. Now I will say that this is a school is for kids to begin their ballet journey, in my opinion. My daughter's toddler class practices ballet for about 30 min, then they read a story and color the page of that story, but all ties in with the class, it's not just a random story or coloring page, it's a story that has to do with the theme for the month. For example, they had a Don Quixote story, how awesome is that?! But the point is that she is having so much fun, and she wants to come back. They also learn proper ballet terms. My 3 year old can tell you what a Plié and pirouette are and her favorite move, the pique. As far as "random people coming in and taking pictures" is concerned, that reviewer is over exaggerating. Other family members are allowed to be there and see their dancer practice, brothers, sisters, aunts, grandparents, but not random strangers. And yes, family is allowed to take pictures. No offense, but if you don't want your kiddo in those pictures, keep them at home. The school also takes pictures during events, like the valentine father daughter dance, but they do ask you first, if you want your kiddos photographed or not, and they honor your wishes. Overall, this is a great starter place for your kiddo and I highly recommend it. Oh, and one more thing, they have many different hours available for all classes, and if your kiddos misses a class, they can go a different day to make it up if you want read more

Teacher Nix has the unique ability to keep all 10 of the 4-5 year old ballerinas engaged, on task, and focused on the activities presented. Teacher Nix is not afraid differentiate the lesson for new ballerinas that come into the class. Lastly, teacher Nix is extremely hands on and fun to watch as a parent. We love ballet! Thankful for Miss Jade who provided a very welcoming, non-intimidating environment for our little one when we first started and she didn't want to join the dance floor alone. The way she teaches doesn't bring attention to a child's mistakes or behavior (shy or hyper) but carries on with the lesson plans seamlessly... which has made my little one look forward to the classes! While they make sure to remind kiddos to keep their hands to themselves, Miss Jade is still very inviting and allows room for encouraging good behavior in a non-threatening way. I liked this place up until this past ( October 2nd) weekend. The ballet teacher is amazing and has been nothing but amazing! The problem is they allow anyone to sit in the practice classes and take videos and pictures. Any amount of people is allowed and they don't ask anyone to leave or be respectful of other families. Even after reaching out the only solution they offered was to move my daughter out of other people's pics and videos and disenroll her. I find it disheartening because most people in the class are little girls. I'm highly disappointed and they have made it clear they didn't care. I will definitely be finding somewhere else. It only sucks because my daughter is warming up to this place and is starting to enjoy the classes. read more
