The girl at the counter said pictures were at 7 in the morning! We were like are you sure it's that early in the morning?! We got up extra early just to show up and find out she lied to us. It was the evening. I went to complain to the one of the owners I was pregnant at the time too, and as I was telling her what happened she grabs my arm violently and tells me to shut up. Yea we don't go there anymore. I should have called the cops on her white elite butt to go to the slammer for a night . Plus there was a lot of talks with the moms how they make you give your credit card number out and being charged before it was time too. That they weren't even late and being charged. read more

I looked for a good studio for my daughter for a while.. and this studio is very close to my house... so I tried one of the free classes, and decided that it was a great fit for my girl... First tip: sign up your child to start on the 1st of the month. I didn't start my child until the 3rd week and was charged for a full month. I was told my child had credit for 4 classes and needed to make them up by the end of the month. We already signed up for two classes a week and that didn't fit our schedule besides the fact there wasn't another class for her to take unless she chose another style. Denise adjusted the pricing and I paid for the classes individually the first month. Second tip: Parking lot is very small and difficult to pull in and out of. Plan to spend time driving around the neighborhood, sometimes 20 minutes before there is parking. I tried to park on the street because it was safer than backing out onto Redondo blvd. Third tip: Plan to stay in your car and wait. There isn't a place to watch your kids. This is more of a drop off situation. There is a bathroom upstairs that they were kind enough to let me use. The studio is clean. My child took hip-hop and tumbling. Because they were preparing for their June show and my child was not performing she was left to sit out during some parts of the hip-hop class. My child didn't enjoy the hip-hop class and dropped it first. When Mr. Neal quit the studio and the tumbling class was now taught by the hip-hop teacher my child didn't want to take the class any more. It was easy to quit. I sent a email. read more

Having danced as a younger woman, I decided to return now that I'm older (over 55!) and wanted to increase my exercise. What a great experience to be part of a small group of "mature" ladies and gentlemen who are supportive, have a great time, laugh a lot, and thoroughly enjoy the class. The teacher is great, the class is fun, and we all get plenty of exercise in our one-hour tap class - what a hoot! I encourage other mature adults to give it a try - all levels are catered to and everyone is so nice! read more

I cannot say enough great things about Alexis, the creative movement teacher. She has been sooo patient with my little one. My little one loves the class! Best.Dance.Studio.Ever! By the way I am using my moms yelp to express how much I love my dance studio. I have been taking dance lessons here for almost over two years and I love it. All the staff is very kind and teachers are great at getting kids to be the great dancers they want to be. I started out with a 6-9 jazz class, and now am doing their jazz, ballet and performance company classes! Performance company is a great experience! We get to travel to events, dance conventions, and stuff like the OC fair and knotts berry farm! I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place, yet! My daughter has been taking dance classes here, for three years. AMAZING place! Incredible teachers and staff that deftly walk that very fine line of high professionalism and "feels like family". The dance instruction is superb, the recitals and shows are impressive...and yet they still manage to make everyone feel like family and close friends. Additionally, they are always upfront with any and all fees (which are reasonable) so there are no surprises, mid-year. I cannot say enough good things about this place- LOVE it. read more

My daughter has been at this same studio since she was 2 1/2. She is now 8 and still enjoys her classes, teachers and awesome performances and shows. I've seen plenty of kids leave to go to other studios only to return to this one because it's just the perfect balance of fun and discipline. Make no mistake, this is a serious studio and I see plenty of the older kids go on to college scolarships, but the atmosphere is not heavy and no one cracks the whip (other than my daughter doing a few push-ups which I love!) I can't see us going anywhere else for my daughter's dance education. read more

Hands down, the BEST dance studio in Long Beach. I danced here from age 4 until my 20's (now 37) and if i lived closer I would still take classes. My dance education through MMSDance was always a positive and learning experience and because of them I had my own dance studio for 10 years and currently still runs huge show and teach dance all over Southern California. The administration is horrendous and rude. I want to be clear the teacher was great and I don't want any of my negativity to reflect poorly on her. I registered my 3yo daughter for a "trial class" on the website, which let me select her age appropriate class at 10:15am on a Saturday. The website did not list a charge for this class or the trial, nor did the confirmation email. I received a 2nd confirmation email the Friday before the class, which still said 10:15am and no mention of cost. At 10:13am, when I finally found parking and was unloading my daughter I received a call that the class was really at 11am and the website was wrong and shouldn't have let me sign up for it. This was certainly annoying and inconvenient to receive no notice of the time discrepancy, but I ran an errand and came back at 11. I signed my daughter in and was told it would be $20 for the trial. $20 for a 45 minute class! That seemed high and absurd to me, but wouldn't have been a problem if I had known ahead of time. The cost should be listed on the website and in the confirmation email. I was angry with the lack of communication and the girl at the counter went to get the "director". The director was rude and dismissive of me and the issues I brought to her. She thanked me for "my feedback" on the lack of information on the website. She didn't care about the inconvenience of not being told ahead of time about the $20 or about the class not being at the time I registered for. She said "sorry, but what do you want from me?" When I responded that I would like her to show some sort of good faith for the 2 inconveniences by possibly offering $5 or $10 off the trial fee, she was rude about the fact that I even asked. She said it's policy and when I registered for a full month the $20 could be applied to that, but if I don't want to continue it's just $20. Had I been doing something for myself I would have just walked out, but my daughter had been looking forward to her fist dance class for a week, and I couldn't take her home without her having a disappointment melt-down. Not telling parents of the charge ahead of time is bad customer service and taking advantage of parents who can't just walk out when you tell them the cost on the spot because they don't want to disappoint their children. Not listing charges or being clear about them on the website and in the email is a dishonest business practice. The teachers may be able to teach the students to dance, but I will not support administration that is dishonest and rude to customers. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS TO THE HIP-HOP CLASS! The teacher does not seem to have any experience working with children. She singles out kids and yells at them in front of everyone. I observed this type of behavior on numerous occasions. I observed this once and thought that maybe it was a bad day. I spoke to the owner and they promised it would never happen again. But I observed it a second time and was really appalled. There are ways to properly discipline kids, but yelling at them in front of all their peers and in front of all the parents, when they are 5-6 years old, is pathetic. I am a paying customer who wants my child to learn how to dance, but in return the studio is destroying the confidence of the children. I will never step foot in this dance studio again, and I want to tell everyone I know about my experience because it was so disturbing. This teacher should not be allowed to teach kids, and if I were the owner of this establishment I would absolutely find a new one. One more thing: The teacher uses her iphone as the source of music for the class and every time she gets a text or a phone call the music stops, and thus the class stops. She has to go over to the phone and reset the music. This happens at least ten times per class. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! read more

The best show I have seen all year!...That's how I would describe about 30 kids doing "Attitude Checks" during their hiphop routine! Tooo Cute!!! I registered my 6 year old son in the Hiphop class on Saturdays. Although he takes Tae Kwon Do, his first experience at a dance studio was scary since most of the children had already been practicing the routine and knew what to do. However, the instructor, Bea, had a way of making him feel comfortable & part of the group. She seemed to really enjoy the energy of the children and allowed them to express themselves naturally as well as teaching them the choreographed dance moves. The staff at MMSD are awesome. Randi, the office manager, got everyone organized and ready for class quickly. The studio is gorgeous and has big windows where you can watch your kids practice. I will be bringing my older son now & will recommend it to all of the moms I know. read more

I gave this business a 1 just because the teachers are good with the children and my daughter likes her teacher. I would have given it a 0 because the administration is terrible. Angela has mislead us, provided false information, and flat out lied to us when confronted. If you call up with an issue and have any inkling of passion about the situation in your voice you are told that you are giving them a tone and the situation is glossed over and neglected to be taken care of. The owner Denise cares just as little about customer service. When talking to Angela and asking for an apology for being lied to she refused. And Denise just threw out a completely fake apology saying that she was sorry that we had put so much energy into blowing a situation out of proportion. And when my girlfriend asked again for an apology Denise waved her arms around frantically , said that she'd had enough and stepped in like she was going to grab her. All of this happening in front of our 3 year old daughter and other children waiting to get their photographs taken as well. They also do not give refunds so if you pay for a bunch of tickets to a recital or pay for pictures and then have a problem with the staff you are stuck with no way out. Once again I would say that the teaching staff here is good. They are good with the children. But the administration and ownership is terrible. I have heard that other parents have complained about the rudeness of the staff also. I would not recommend this business due to the rude attitudes, lies, and conduct unbecoming of a professional business. read more
