I am a retired Int'l Airline Captain and have lived in Sarasota the last 13 years. I flew the big…read morebirds worldwide and have been licensed almost 50 years. On May 20th I went in for a routine cleaning at Dr. Adam Still's practice at 2389 Ringling, Sarasota 34237 The dental hygienist Ms. Kaycee (or close to that spelling) walked me into the patient's room. I had some trouble getting into the seat because the head rest was midway down my back, and the chair needed adjusting. I am a senior citizen with mobility issues, and after I was finally settled in the chair I shrugged and said these exact words to Ms. Kaycee, " well, I am all yours (indicating I finally settled into the chair she could have adjusted but didn't) and I'd like an aggressive periodontal cleaning please?" Ms. Kaycee and I had a pleasant chat during the cleaning, it finished routinely. Dr. Still checked me out, everything was good, I paid, checked my wife's and daughter's next appointment date and left. 3-4 hours later I get a phone call from Dr. Still's wife, telling me I am "kicked out of her practice." I asked why? Mrs. Still said Kaycee mentioned she did not like the way I spoke when I sat down in the chair. Really? What? Senior citizens always use different phrases, annunciations, and colloquialisms all the time! Everyone IS directly influenced by where they have lived. Has Kaycee actually ever LIVED or traveled to a foreign country? I said nothing inappropriate to Kaycee. The whole visit was just a routine visit period! Mrs. Still would have none of that. She tried unsuccessfully to take a commanding position of our conversation, would not listen and was quite rude to me. I have never experienced this in any professional's office. Have you? I wanted to laugh at her! If Kaycee had issues with me as I was trying to sit in a chair which she never adjusted, she should have done the following: 1. Excuse herself to ask Dr. Still about an issue with my mouth 2. Explained to Dr. Still in her mind, what she believed happened, (I tried sitting in a misadjusted chair) and simply have Dr. Still finish up the appointment, talk to me, and resolve the issue. 3. There was no conversation like this because Kaycee and I lightly chatted while she did the cleaning, and as I described before, I thanked her for her time, paid, and verified my wife and daughter's next appointment times and left. 4. Mrs. Still said, I was "out of her practice, but my wife and daughter were welcome to be seen there! Really? Would you stay? 5. I am a senior citizen in my upper 60's (I'll be 70 in 1 1/2 years) and Kaycee did not bother checking the chair before I tried to sit down. Under the American's with disabilities Act senior citizens need to be treated appropriately. She made it hard, awkward and uncomfortable specifically because she did nothing with the chair before I came in the room. For a senior citizen it was not easy when I sat down. Hence, I shrugged. 6. Nothing derogatory in any way shape or form was ever said in that room. Period. 7. When I returned home 30 min later, my wife asked me how everything went, and I said," just fine." 8. Kaycee made up a horrible lie about me, resulting in Mrs Still "kicking me out of their practice." 9. When my wife finished having a temporary crown installed by Dr. Still a few months ago she asked Mrs. Still how long until the permanent crown was available to be installed? Mrs. Still "talked down" to my wife who speaks 5 languages perfectly, was very rude to my wife with her weird attitude, and said," not today or tomorrow is that what you expect?" Is this how they treat customers? (My wife has had 10 crowns throughout her life so she thoroughly understood the process.) She has had her USA blue passport 10 years. Does Mrs Still have an inherent bias against foreign born naturalized US citizen's or the way they pronounce their English words? 10. In this practice you CAN and WILL get accused after the fact just to keep the customers they "want!" 11. Dr. Still should have clearly listened and researched this complaint. Ms. Kaycee is not experienced enough to realize that a senior citizen under the ADA must be given more consideration prior to sitting, adjust the chair before that patient enters and if she had questions about something said while simply sitting down, ask! Dr. Still called me later in the day and his exact words were, " It is what it is," and asked no questions to me about what happened. Really? In aircraft accident investigations first all facts are gathered, considered, investigated, discussed, then a final conclusion. Dr. Still just cow-towed to his wife. Who wears the pants? Do YOU really want to be treated this way by a dental practitioner? It's a first for me. Think carefully before you enter this place as it CAN/WILL also happen to you! Which is more annoying, a therapist lying, his rude wife, or Still's lack of a backbone for NOT properly investigating. Respectfully, Paul Metzger

I never usually write reviews but was so seriously impressed with the care we received. My son was comfortable from the start, they talked him through what they were doing at all times and then we looked at the x-rays together to discuss treatment going forward. My son is going back for his treatment today (didn't have to wait long at all!) and I have every confidence that all will work out well. On a personal level I totally appreciated being able and encouraged to ask all questions to put my mind at ease. I'm incredibly nervous of going to the dentist myself and did not want my son to feel the same way. They made sure to include him in the conversations and he was comfortable at all times. We are from the UK and have been here for only a year - a friend recommended this dentist to us and I'm so thankful that they did! I would not hesitate to recommend SmileWorks Kids Dentist. Thank you!
