First experience with a dentist in Bradenton since moving from Tampa DID NOT go well. I had to have a 2 part deep cleaning -- first visit on left side went fine. They were able to get me in for the other half after a cancellation and I wish I waited. They were obviously very rushed and didn't read my prior notes on numbing. The hygienist was lovely, but the Dentist who came and administered the lidocaine obviously went too far into one of my nerves. There were gaps in what I could feel, and I had to be given additional numbing injections. The entire right side of my face was NUMB and I had drooping along my mouth and eye for a day after the procedure. When I spoke with the dentist, he basically said it "was a rare complication but it does happen". Despite this, there is no documentation given to me that outlines any risks to consent to. I requested the treatment notes from my 2 cleanings, and the front office staff stated they don't have those. Not to mention, I requested itemized receipts for my payments and found that I had a credit due back to me that was never mentioned. I had to REQUEST a refund of my money back. I work in healthcare, and I have to document EVERYTHING with my patients...Beware of what your agreeing to and the risks and beware of them overcharging and not telling you when you have an account credit. read more

I stopped going here after having a lot of issues. The staff was all very friendly, but I didn't like the open areas for cleaning. I also had issues with all of the dental work they did on me. The did a filling on my front tooth that I was later told I didn't need, it was just a mark from medication I was on when I was younger. When they did this filling, blood got mixed in with it making the filling dark. When I asked that they fix it, I was treated like I was being unreasonable and an inconvenience for not want part of my front tooth to be darker than the rest. I ended up going back because I liked the dental hygienists and then they hired on a female dentist who I started to see. I then got a crown which had nothing but issued where it kept falling off. This has never happened to me before. After switching dentists, I also found out there was an air hole left in a filling they did which came up on my x rays. I know several other people who have gone here and had issues as well. If you chose to go here, be cautious with any treatment recommended. read more

Very unprofessional scheduling staff. I had an extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience this morning at the office. I had an appointment scheduled for 8:00 a.m. As requested, they had sent an email a few weeks ago to send in paperwork showing patient information and insurance. When I first originally scheduled my appointment back in June, I was told it would be easier if I could forward it via email so that way I wouldn't have to do it in the office and they wouldn't have to wait for me to complete it. A couple weeks later I had to reschedule my appointment due to a conflict and it was rescheduled for today. It was requested again that I send in my information via email. AT NO TIME DID IT SAY IT WAS MANDATORY TO SEND IN INFORMATION PRIOR TO THE APPOINTMENT OR THAT MY APPOINTMENT WOULD GET CANCELED. Last night, I went to print my paperwork out to bring in for my appointment for today but the printer wasn't working, so I filled out the paperwork manually and emailed it to them last night, THE DAY PRIOR. Upon my arrival, I was told that my appointment was canceled and given to someone else because I didn't respond to the text messages they sent me nor did I turn in paperwork prior. The front desk worker then called the appointment scheduler, Andrea, who apparently doesn't even work in the office and handed me the phone to talk to her ‍..........She then started to talk to me like I was a 5 year old. Condescending and lecturing me on how she canceled my appointment because I didn't send in the paperwork during her "working hours" prior to my appointment that morning and how she has been trying to contact me several times (apparently two text messages reminding me of my appointment is trying to contact me several times) and due to this, they just canceled my appointment without calling me. She was just supercilious the entire time. In regards to the appointment reminder texts, I get these texts all the time for appointments; ie: lashes, hair, dermatologists, but I have never responded to them and NEVER have my appointments just been canceled on me with no email/call contact! Ridiculous! I drove clear from Marco Island this morning and left a sick family member to come to this dentist appointment at 8:00 a.m! To make matters worse, I'm an educator in Manatee County and unfortunately my benefits lapse August 1st! So this is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I will not be able to get into a dentist now before my benefits laps and the new school year begins. What a great way to treat your educators working with the kids of Manatee County during Covid risking their own lives... After "Andrea" agreed to forward my email of all my patient info to the office, the staff said they would try and fit me in to see the doctor but couldn't guarantee that I would get in for a cleaning. That's the only reason why I scheduled my appointment! Oh, this was after asking for my social security number out loud in front of an entire waiting room full of people when they had literally all of that information right there on the paperwork that I sent in the night PRIOR. Very dismaying experience, I hope you treat your new patients better in the future starting with who you're hiring to schedule the appointments. You can't just have them showing up in the morning saying 'oh sorry, it's been canceled,' and if this is how you treat your already existing clients then I don't want to come to your practice anyways. Come on, do better! read more

The staff and providers at Parkwood Dental are second to none! They are gentle, accommodating and make you feel comfortable and at ease. The doctor is thorough and knowledgeable, and talked me through every aspect of my procedure. He too, like his staff, was great at making me feel at ease. Moved from Tampa to Bradenton and needed a new dentist for my fourteen year old daughter. Dr. Hernandez tried to tell me she did not want braces, that her over bite was no big deal, she did not have crooked teeth, even though her front eye teeth are almost sideways, and that she had TWELVE cavities! He laughed the entire time he was talking to me and then left the room abruptly so that the poor tech had to answers my questions. My daughter has religiously seen a dentist since she was three years old. She has only had two cavities her entire life and now in six months she developed twelve? Went and got a second opinion with the xrays his office took and surprise, surprise, she did not need one filling. His dental plan would have charged my Insurance company $1300 and would have cost me $500. I left the other office paying $25 for a fluoride treatment out of pocket, the insurance just paid for the cleaning for a fluoride treatment and an appointment for her six month follow up. This man was willing to put my daughter through four sessions of painful procedures so that he could make $2000 off her. Absolutely horrible. Thank goodness I got a second opinion! read more
