TWD surfaces fabricated and installed a Corian countertop for my new condo in Central Square in Cambridge. I had also recently had another Corian surface installed by another firm, so I have a good frame of comparison. TWD did excellent, and superior, work. They were exceedingly prompt and punctual, had an efficient and friendly office staff, and offered a significantly better price. They used a really cool laser templating system, and the person who came to do the template was extremely knowledgeable. He was even able to show me a 3D rendering on the spot. Compared to the firm that installed my other countertop, TWD was a dream to deal with. They were extremely professional at every step in the process, and the end product is lovely. If I have any complaint, it would be that the guys who did the install weren't exactly the friendliest in the world, and seemed exceedingly rushed (they left a literal *pile* of Corian dust on my floor), but the quality of the work was good and it was done efficiently. And they actually took the trouble to show up right on top, which is a rare and much appreciated trait in workmen. All in all, I would happily recommend TWD. read more

Incompetent. Unhelpful. Rude. TWD was hired through Home Depot to install new kitchen counter tops at our house. A job that should have been done in one day ended up taking three days, due to the incompetence of the worker who measured our counters in the first place. We tore out our kitchen sink and old counter in preparation for their arrival on the scheduled day, only for their team to tell us they could not install as planned because our cabinets were not level. This was the same team who had spent an hour in our home on an earlier date making measurements. I guess they didn't notice they weren't level at that time. Rather than help me fix the problem (something a counter top installer should be well prepared to do), they left, leaving us with a kitchen that had no sink and no counter. I (by no means a handyman), was able to make the cabinets level in less than 15 minutes. Another crew came back 4 days later, only to discover that the first guy had measured wrong, and the counters they brought would not fit. They had to come out a third time to finally get the counters in, leaving us without a complete kitchen for a week and a half. I had to take multiple unplanned days off of work and incurred additional charges from not having a functional kitchen for over a week (takeout food, etc). When I contacted TWD to discuss reimbursement for the many inconveniences caused by their incompetence, I was told "we don't do that." You don't do that? You don't fix mistakes that you make? You don't try to correct problems that you have caused? WTF TWD? The manager I spoke with was very rude and unhelpful. He just kept repeating that "these things happen". Sure, these things happen. But when it's your fault that they are happening, you need to correct it! The concept was lost on him. It seems as though their approach to customer service and quality control is essentially "tough $#!+". I sent a disappointed email to the owner, in the hopes that he might be a bit more responsive to the errors committed by his employees, but of course I never received a response. To top it all off, the crew that finally did install our counters ended up stripping the finish right off of our kitchen table by carelessly placing some sort of hot tool there (which they didn't tell us about), so that needs to be replaced as well. I could try to argue with TWD about that as well, but you know, "we don't do that". I would advise people to think very carefully before hiring this sorry excuse for a company. I am happy to hear that my local Home Depot has stopped hiring them. You should consider going the same route. read more

No wonder they disappeared after coming out to do the template weeks ago and was ghosted. They are out of business! Maybe they should at least put that in greeting on the main line. read more

I'm very disappointed in the TWD Surfaces especially their customer service. The amount of revenue they make each year and their staff seems like they haven't got a clue on what's going on there. From the measurement to the install it was "we forgot to schedule" or "we forgot to put your measurements in" or "we didn't bring the right equipment", several times. We basically had to call them each step of the way or it would have taken months to get the countertop install. They offered no appologies, all we got was "that's the way it is". The office staff is rude and won't call back if you leave messages. We paid for the entire install upfront which was a mistake. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I would pay more to get better service somewhere else. Shop around and read the other reviews for this company, there are rated at 2 stars for a reason. read more

I recently purchased a granite counter top from TWD for my bathroom vanity. Words can not explain how impressed I was from the moment I called until the moment they installed my countertop. Eric was the point person who I worked with and he was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and kind throughout the whole process. He was was responsive to all my request and was very accommodating. Additionally, the gentlemen who work in the warehouse were welcoming and friendly with every visit, assisting Eric and I with moving some of the slabs, so that I could get a good look at everything. Everyone I dealt with at this company, especially Mike D., went way beyond expectations in resolving a problem not caused by them, but by the store where I purchased my counter. TWD surfaces has not been satisfactory at all. I ordered hardwood countertops through home depot who subcontracted TWD to template and order the tops. After waiting six weeks for the tops to be made they came to install them only to find out that they had not been cut correctly. TWD told me it was not their template but the company that fabricated them was at fault. I was assured I would have my new correct tops within 2 weeks, it has now been 4 weeks and I haven't heard anything. Home Depot has "tried" to help but with no success. My biggest issue is the general lack of any sense of urgency around helping to fix the mistake. Deanna at TWD has not been helpful or friendly at all. Most of my interactions with her have been aggressive on her end anytime I were to challenge what was happening, not saying I was perfect either but I was never rude. Last, I still have the pile of debris from my old countertops sitting in my driveway. Long story short, I wouldn't recommend this company at all and be careful when ordering from home depot or lowes. I'll be writing a letter to the BBB as well as making posts to Twitter and Facebook. read more

I'm giving this company 1 star because it won't allow me to choose 0. I purchased a Corian countertop from Lowes in September as part of a complete kitchen renovation and I'm still waiting for them to install it. This is by the far the worst service company I've ever dealt with. I've done several renovations over the years and I've never had so many problems with a subcontractor. Nor have I dealt with such attitude, like the not-so-friendly man on the phone who told me I needed to be flexible and work around his schedule. I own a service business and even if I were to think that, I would never say it to a client. It was the most unprofessional conversation I've ever had with anyone, much less someone I'm giving my hard earned money to. It's an extremely busy time of year for me which is why I placed the order months ago. After they rescheduled the template measure several times, they finally came out. I will say the guy who did the measurement was very professional and knowledgeable. When the gentleman left, I was promised a call within a week to schedule the install. A few weeks and several calls from Lowes asking if they'd call to schedule later, TWD finally said they never ordered the kitchen sink. Allegedly it would be in 4 days later and they would call immediately to schedule. Why they couldn't schedule it for 4 weeks out (the week I'll be home with my family coming to town to visit...the whole reason I wanted the renovation done by now) right then when they promised the sink would be in is beyond me. So, again we waited. Lowes called several more times to follow up and see if we'd received a call to schedule. Still nothing. We asked Lowes if they had another contractor to do the work. They said this was the only company who installed Corian and we'd either have to wait or cancel the order and buy a different product. Two weeks later TWD called and scheduled the install for a Saturday...two weeks before my family was to arrive. Perfect! I'd be able to get my kitchen put back together before they get here. Today they cancelled the install saying they won't be working that Saturday. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! You set the appointment!! After posting this, I'll be calling Lowes to cancel my order. I have zero confidence after all this that there won't be any issues with the install. I'm sure TWD gets a lot of business from Lowes but I refuse to allow this company to make a dollar from me. If Lowes was smart, they'd find another installer. This company is not doing them any favors. read more

TWD is one of the worst companies i have ever dealt with. They are contracted through Lowes to install countertops and recently installed mine. The product looks great but they did not re attach my dishwasher properly causing the stainless steel panel to catch on the cabinet frame on each side. The edges of the panel bent out causing the front to bend on both sides. Now i cannot open or close my dishwasher. Lowes and TWD fought over whose fault it was for 2 weeks before TWD send someone out to look at it. I guess the incredibly clear pictures i sent werent enough. The man said they had reattached it but must have knocked a shim loose 'or something.' he said i would get a call in a few days about when it would b repaired. I got a call a few days later from Lowes saying that TWD denied any responsibility. Really? Before they touched it, it was secure and i never had a problem. After they touched it the bottom of the dishwasher easily moves around. As i said the product looks great but they do not stand behind the work they do. Go somewhere else. BTW, it has been 5 weeks since it happened and it is still not fixed. Avoid Lowes as well. read more
