Okay Folks, first review of 2025 goes to Twenty-Four Blackbirds Chocolate. We had the most outstanding experience doing their tour. First, they accommodated our group on a day when they don't normally give the tour. We had a chance to see their small greenhouse where they are growing cocoa plants and learn a lot more about the plants themselves. Then we saw the whole process from preparing cocoa beans to finished product. Ending of course with a tasting. Our tour guide was excellent, the tour was excellent, the chocolate was excellent! Highly recommend a visit if you love chocolate, which of course we also bought before leaving.

You smell cocoa right away when coming in.... real and pure.... chocolate made right here. A most perfect, lovely spot for gifts that will be fully loved for sure (and make sure to get a treat for you too). Ah, but how to choose...the truffles look like like art, the ingredients sounds like poetry, and they taste divinely dreamy. Spacious tasting/shopping space Love the bird art for the chocolate bars. Outside seating Very helpful, knowledgeable, engaging staff If you love chocolate, & or know someone who does, this is THE place to go. It is in a little bit of an offbeat, gritty- urban feeling area, a more unusual charm for Santa Barbara. Probably easier just to walk here. Not too far from the beach or State street.

Today, I participated in the Twentyfour Blackbirds and Wine Cult Chocolate Tour and Wine Tasting! The event started off with a tour of the chocolate lab where we walked through the entire chocolate making lifecycle from conception to polish! The meticulous chocolate making process takes about an entire week to make one perfect truffle! Did you know that they are growing cacao and vanilla in house in Santa Barbara!? After the tour, a wine connoisseur led us through a chocolate and wine paired tasting featuring a local white blend served with a cardamom and black pepper truffle as well as a cab paired with a rosemary caramel truffle. I love the forwardness of the herbs and spices in the truffle that add character to bolster their chocolate. I learned that it takes a full year for these an item to be added to the menu! Their carefulness really comes through with the high quality truffles! Overall, this was a fantastic event that was beautifully run! I would highly recommend checking out the chocolate making tours by Twentyfour Blackbirds as well as the thoughtful wine from Wine Cult -- my favorite being the Cremant, a beautiful sparkling wine.

I love this place! It's a great shop to stop in for a sweet treat and great for gifts too! Who doesn't want these delicious beautiful and delicately made truffles. Bean to bar! They have such raw ingredients and actual cocoa trees in the back. I am always mesmerized by the colors of these amazing chocolates. They're each so unique and beautiful. I'll be honest, my first impression was skeptical. How could tiny little chocolate fulfill my sweet tooth? Well let me tell you that it did! Each bite of a truffle takes you on a whirlwind of flavors. Literally. My favorite 2 are the salted caramel and spicy togarashi caramel. They're both so yummy and beautifully painted. You can get little boxes of 3, 5, or more. Highly recommend this shop. Stop in for a try. They also do wine pairings with their truffles where they carefully select wines that amplify the flavors of the chocolates and wine when taken together.

I loved their chocolate and unique flavors. Service was great and it smelled so divine in the shop. I even bought their caramel as a gift. Next time I'm in town, I may check out their chocolate making classes. Highly recommend stopping by and checking it out for yourself! It's located next to a couple of amazing eateries as well!

Wow- a seriously designer chocolate place! Amazing pairings and favors in their chocolates. They literally look like pieces of art with marbled designs and bright colors. The staff are so knowledgeable and accommodating. I learned so much about their chocolate making process when I was able to go! They also try to be as sustainable and cruelty free as possible, which I love! They have cute little packages to take chocolate home. Such a fun spot!

The concept of bean-to-bar artisanal chocolate is definitely worth a try in comparison of quality to commercialized chocolate. Unfortunately due to COVID, we didn't get a chance to enjoy a chocolate tour or enjoy the ambiance of the shop. However, their chocolates speaks for themselves. Their chocolates are filled mainly with either ganache or caramel. Our favorite to try was the Old Fashioned. The rosemary was definitely an interesting one to try that it was more savory with the salt and herb. Our cashier definitely took the time to converse with us and answer our questions with no rush. Supporting local businesses especially local chocolate shops.

Great place! Their single-origin bars are simply the best chocolates I've ever had. My favorite is the Kokoa Kamili. This store was recommended to me by a coworker. I'm not in Santa Barbara often, but I always visit here when I'm in town.

However, my experience was disappointing. The two girls in the shop were almost asleep. One was barely conscious, the other was trying to make up for her. The chocolates looked very interesting, but they were rather dull-looking and often hard to differentiate because the display case had no lights. Add to this the already dim lighting of the store and that it was an overcast day outside, and it felt like trying to buy chocolates in an old library. As for the chocolates themselves, they did not taste like French/European chocolates at all; they had the very standard American chocolate taste-that is, Hershey-like and with no deep resounding real cacao flavor that is like bass from a speaker on your tongue. That's what real European chocolate tastes like. This was just sugar, sugar, sugar, and cute designs. Maybe they are using cheaper American ingredients rather than importing higher quality ones? No point in having the Eiffel Tower on your logo if you wouldn't be able to keep this store open in France. But the best part: the girl at the counter didn't let me try anything other than the three pre-selected types of bon bons on the sample tray! How cheap can you get? I've never had any chocolatier deny a sample of a simple truffle, especially not one with the gall to charge $3 per chocolate in a tiny town like Carp! $35 for a dozen, just to not even be able to try what you are putting in the box? You must be joking. Anyways, onto trying to find another good chocolatier in the 805...

I've done chocolate workshops where we literally got cacao beans from bods, roasted and dried them, them mixed with other ingredients to make chocolate, this is not that. This is really an arts and crafts project where you just happen to take home some chocolate at the end. That being said, the chocolate base is quite good, from the dark chocolate (which I normally don't like), through the milk chocolate, and the white chocolate. Each of the base is already made, then they give you a ton of toppings to customize your own bar. I will say I wish they would have suggested us to push in the topping a bit more into the mold, as much of the toppings came off when we ate them later. After this 10 min process of customizing your bar, the rest of the time is spent just decorating your box. They do have an extensive collection of art materials, it was just a bit of a let down that it felt like 90% crafts. Beyond that, the service could have been better. It was very stand off-ish. We ended up decorating our box for what felt like an hr cause no one came to tell us our chocolate was ready. And it just really felt like we had no idea what was going on throughout the process. Staff was nice, just not very informative.
