I have a family member living in LA who is dealing with a scary vision crisis. Our sight is so precious to us, and hers is deteriorating rapidly. I live in Austin, but wanted to find an LA florist who was not a generic but instead, a true artist with how they make their arrangements. Based on the good Yelp reviews (and a location somewhat close to where my family member lives) - I checked out the website for Twigs and Thyme. Their images of previous flower arrangements on their website were absolutely striking. Things like wonderful vivid contrasts of hot pinks against greens, luscious mixes of expressive flowers. I called and spoke to an incredibly nice woman there, and told her what I was hoping to send to my relative: something visually arresting with drama and contrast. Something that would also stimulate smell. She was so lovely to speak with, and understood what I was hoping for. The arrangement that she made is just absolutely art. My relative was so touched that she sent me a picture of it, which I am posting here. I am so grateful for the beauty Twigs and Thyme made, and for the kindness of the woman I spoke to. I wish I had that kind of ability to arrange flowers into something like that, but since I don't - I am glad Yelp helped me find someone who can. I ordered flowers for a friend and while I'm happy to pay a premium for a nice arrangement, for $150 I would expect a significantly higher quality level of artistry and flower freshness and variety. It's always a bummer when you really want to love a place but unfortunately their prices don't match the quality. read more

I received an arrangement about two weeks ago and it was absolutely stunning. I hadn't heard of Twigs and Thyme prior to receiving the arrangement but would definitely recommend them. I've had several coworkers ask for the contact info after seeing my flowers. The full arrangement lasted a little over week with the dracaena being the first to wilt. Two weeks later I was able to transfer the callas, orchids, and some greens into my own vases and continue enjoying the remaining blooms. I'm impressed by the creativity of the florists and longevity of some of the blooms. I'm definitely keeping this place in mind for when I need an arrangement. read more

Just terrible. Don't waste your money. Every piece of info given was written down wrong. The highlight though was how rude they were on the phone to me when I asked for the tenth time about a delivery. "We are doing the best we can, I hope it will get there but I don't know." I think it's worth the extra money to just use Empty Vase, they are much more professional and reliable. EDIT: FYI I wasn't able to answer my cell because they wrote down the wrong number-- I can't answer a call that never happened. Anyway, here's the actual update: the recipient really liked her arrangement, which was indeed beautifully crafted. Finally someone came out from the back and asked if I had been helped yet. The person that shushed me said "yes I asked her to wait because I'm on the phone." She did not ask me to wait, she put a finger up and there's a difference. But anyway I continued to wait patiently and finally when they had time to speak to me, I found out that mother's day weekend, floral bouquets are a minimum of $150 each. Nancy explained she doesn't use them because they're poisonous to cats (note to self!) and her cats are in the shop. She suggested I call around. After a half dozen calls and no Lilies to be found, I went back to Twigs and Twine because I just liked her. She's the artist and although she asked what I wanted, I said "Just make something that will knock our boss' socks off!" OMG, did she ever!!! Nancy was super patient in helping our several opinions blend together until everybody was happy with the centerpiece sample. She was able to keep the arrangements classy for my mom, and garden-ish for my future sister in law, and cheerful for my brother. This woman went back and forth from the front, the back, the flower fridge, to the catalogs, to using her iPad for visual, to show us all options of flowers and vases until we were happy. She also worked with our budget and was honest on which flowers were in-season or which would be pricier. The flowers really made the event and helped set the tone.
