Burgers were good . Slightly overcooked but good flavor. The asparagus was too garlicky and cut into smaller pieces which I wasn't expecting. The risotto balls were ok. Kinda wish they were crispier and maybe smaller. Lastly the old fashioned was in a large cocktail glass which wasn't a big deal but we're the whiskey. Located on the main level of a very mediocre hotel, the restaurant shines for several reasons: great ambiance, varied menu, beautiful presentation, an attentive staff, and, most importantly for me, a commitment to modifying any menu item to accommodate their guests' dietary needs. The owner-chef has dietary restrictions and has committed herself to gluten-free options prepared in a separate, gluten-free kitchen served on gluten-free plates, other allergen-free options, and low or no-sodium versions of virtually every menu item. All you need to do is let the staff know, and they'll work with you to deliver a superb meal that meets your needs. Every time we're in Rochester, we make a point of enjoying dinner at Twigs. Made a reservation for my husband's milestone birthday and requested a nice table, good service, and a little birthday dessert in the end. Did not get any of those. The service was mediocre, at best, and very impersonal. But the food and the drinks are outstanding! I will give credit or credit is due. The appetizers were off the charts yummy in the main course of chicken and waffles and one of the burgers was stellar. We enjoyed a martini to kick off his birthday evening and ended with an old-fashioned. Again, the food and the drinks were great. We went to celebrate our family members birthday in this restaurant we made a reservation and I recommend people doing that there's plenty of parking in front that you can park easily and walk across the road to this restaurant. This restaurant is pretty huge and they have small plates for appetizers are very bright and great Views on the patio. If you're in the summer, this is a treat for you. The food is average, but the service is outstanding. They usually fix everything that you have a problem with. I had a problem with the old-fashioned then they immediately fixed it and I got by martini I strongly recommend if you are around Rochester area to visit this place because it's a great team of people working together very hard to make this place even brighter read more

Twigs is wonderful! Enjoyed a variety of foods during our stay. The cranberry salad was excellent. It was light, not too much dressing, and the right amount of cranberries. The fish and chips were done perfectly. Baby back ribs are definitely something to order again next time. Did I mention the desserts? That chocolate cake ? So delicious, as was the cobbler. The value is definitely outstanding. We had a full dinner for two, with appetizer and desserts, for about $75. The restaurant is very comfortable, cozy but plenty of room for maneuvering a wheelchair. The staff is pleasant, efficient, friendly, and very accommodating. They work well together and their boss can be proud of the Twigs team. If we ever have to come back to Mayo, Twigs will be our eatery. read more

The ambience is very nice with a very convenient location. I watched the Rochester Parade on the patio. However, the service issue was tentative at best. I had some grilled chicken kebabs that were probably four stars and a watermelon storm drink and a Mojito. The first drink was good, but I didn't know it was gonna be served up as a martini so I was a little off. The second drink was supposed to be a basil ginger Mojito, but there was only one one basil leaf. Zero mint leaves. Zero. No ginger. It tasted like sweet & sour. Gross. I never do this with drinks, but I'm going to have to send it back. Manager came & offered to remake but admitted they didn't have ANY mint. Weird. My recommendation was do not put Mojitos on your menu if you don't have any mint. Basic drinks 101. She took it off the bill. read more

One of my favorite places to dine outside but today's experience was a bit disappointing. Took quite a while to get served as we were in a corner of the patio. Other tables came in after us and were served. We finally flagged someone down who said he'd find our server, which took several minutes. The server wasn't sure what the soup of the day was so he asked another server who didn't know. Might be a good idea to give a heads up in the team meeting at the beginning of their shift. We ordered an appetizer and a salad and cup of soup. The salads and soup came out quite quickly, but my salad was missing the cranberries. The the server mentioned that he didn't know what was going on in the kitchen, but didn't say he would fix it. When he came back to check on us, I said this is not the cranberry salad and he said no it sure doesn't look like it. I asked if he would go find me some cranberries. It took a couple tries, but he eventually came back with some. We got our appetizer after we were into our meals, which wasn't that big a deal but just not your typical good service. We realize there are a lot of new and young servers starting for the summer months so there is a lot to learn. We hope our next experience is a little bit smoother. read more

Host stand people were pretty much clueless and looked like they belonged at a freak concert. Our table service was pretty much non-existent. No personality, avoided eye contact, curt, and non-attentive to the point of near non-existent. You folks can do much better. This is also my second trip to Twiggs where I have really been 'bugged' by a nuisance fly. And my pasta dish had obviously been waiting a while under a heat lamp. Amazing that they have a completely gluten-free kitchen! I have multiple, severe food allergies, and it's a treat to have some things I've rarely been able to eat for the last two decades; the Cuban wrap is my favorite thus far. Twice, though, they've messed up the dairy-allergy part of my order; last time, for example, I got no coleslaw in my wrap, because the host was worried it had dairy in it. I appreciate the concern, but this can be solved by double-checking with the kitchen. (Most coleslaw is dairy free.) She said it was on the side, but it was not in the to-go container. (I was on the road and couldn't add any allergen-free condiments from home--it was extremely dry.) Also, the Poke Bowl is wildly overpriced for the amount and quality of food included. read more

Make a GF gal feel normal with all of the offerings! The service was great all 4 times we either are in or took out! Wish we had a restaurant in town that was this accommodating and contentious as well as delicious to boot! The Strawberry Rhubarb Mocktail was fantastic. The onion rings were ordered on every visit!!! They were perfectly cooked and seasoned with a light crispy batter. Chicken and waffles were a close second to our "regular" order. The mini Belgian waffles were super cute and the chicken tenders were breaded, large and filling! The Parmesan crisps were unexpected delicious .. almost like a fried savory chuck of elephant ears sprinkled with Parmesan! I'm pretty particular about my fish and am pleased to report that the walleye was a nice flakey white fish that was meaty and filling: not fishy! The fried Sweet and Sour shrimp were huge! And also filling. . . You can always order the entree over the appetizer if you also wish to try some of the side accompaniments... Thick cut fries, mashed potatoes, sweet potato fries to name a few! Pleasantly surprised! When I noticed it was at the hotel I kind of had a second thought because I've had bad hotel food in the past. But when we walked in we were pleasantly surprised, turned out to be a nice quaint restaurant. They asked if we had reservations and we did not, it was going to be an 1.5 wait, fortunately they had seating the bar. The bartender was fantastic, hard working girl. The menu was so vast I couldn't make a decision. She gave me some suggestions! Needless to say her suggestions were top notch. I can't eat gluten and this place has the most extensive gluten free menu with a second kitchen!!!!! My meal was fantastic I had gluten free fish tacos and had a pita small plate. Amazing! Recently, I have had to completely change my diet due food allergies and sensitivities. The manager personally worked with me to create a delicious variation of their Twig bowl with shrimp. She even had an employee go out and purchase olive oil to prepare my meal! Above and beyond doesn't begin to express the effort that was made to take care of my needs. Needless to say, we returned the following night to another carefully prepared meal that was just as delicious. Up here for the mayo, and the hot rock option caught our attention. Parking is somewhat limited, and out back of the hotel. Kaleb was our waiter and it started off great! He was attentive and friendly. We got our hot rock and our food then he disappeared. Both of our drinks ran out and I had to ask another waiter to fill our drinks. We took the advice at the bottom of the menu and took our time cooking the meat and enjoying our time together. Kaleb came back around about half way through our meal and I asked him for another stone. He looks me dead in the eye and says, "this is why I told you to put all the meat on it when I sat it down, because we're limited on the rocks. Just so you know for next time." He did bring me another rock, but that hit me sideways ESPECIALLY since it literally says at the bottom of their menu to take your time and enjoy. We ended up going elsewhere for dessert and drinks due to Kaleb's comment. Would have hated to continue to inconvenience him. The food was very good and the cuts of meat were good. Twigs was recommended to me by a friend who has celiac's and knew I was spending a lot of time at the Mayo. I am highly sensitive to gluten and haven't seen a menu this extensive in a long time. I had a procedure where I couldn't eat for two days and planned on going to Twigs after. It was a Tuesday night and there was a one hour wait but there was immediate seating at the bar. Finally decided on a Ruben sandwich but was told that was not on the gf menu (that's how we discovered the mix-up) and that it couldn't be made gluten-free. I ordered the gf Philly cheesesteak but the meat is actually pot roast and my first bite was all fat. The meat was so bad that I couldn't eat it. I was never asked if I liked it or not and even though I couldn't eat it, was charged full price. There are no cheese substitutes if you can't have dairy. I was told the fish was wild caught but when I looked it up I found out it was actually farmed. Sadly, it was not a great experience for a place I was really looking forward to. read more

Our waiter was attentive, timely, and everything came out as we had asked for. I thought the GF onion rings were excellent. I made one major mistake though - I ordered pasta, knowing fully well that I probably should have leaned towards something more grill-like (baby back ribs, burgers, steak, etc.). MAYO CANCER PATIENTS BEWARE I am a cancer patient at Mayo. I came to Rochester for chemo. This place has an agreement with the Mayo for cancer patients, but it is quite run down. I had requested a ground floor room close to parking a month ago, the same I had in the past. This was refused and I was told by two Goth front desk attendants "we have lots of chemo patients" so too bad. Another guest saw how much I was struggling and got a cart from the main hotel to get my luggage to my room on the second floor. We walked around outside on the ground floor and there were plenty rooms unoccupied with parking. The Goths at the front desk lied to me and belittled my condition. Arrived at the restaurant at 9pm. I was told to get and pay for drinks at the bar then go outside to get food if I didn't want to sit in the bar by myself. At 9:30 I finally flagged down a waiter tried to order food. I was told by the waiter to go back inside to the bar. I told him I just wanted to get something to eat. He said it was my fault for coming outside. He served food and drinks to 3 other tables but refused to take my order and told me to leave. Hateful attitudes for Mayo cancer patients. Maria Schumann, Hospitality Manager, became angry about this review and called me on my cell phone, using profanity, screaming, and complaining about it. I told her to change her tone or the conversation would end. She continued and I hung up. read more
