No diamond in the rough since I dig the "roughness" of the Alberta District. I come to Portland rarely, but typically for our AFSP Board meeting usually located at a McMenamins which I'm not so fond of. I wanted that welcome sense of neighborhood and community I'm always hearing about in "Portlandia" and lucked into this diamond in the rough. The Alberta Petite Hotel is a peachy home and comfort B&B inn style hotel. Not only do you feel safe, warmth and a cup of cozy comfort all at once, but you great amenities and options for breakfast. The APH is easy to access both the main entrance and rooms with key pad locks whether anyone is available upon check in or check out. What's not to like.... I took a Lyft/Uber situation upon flying in and got in an hour later than I expected... so this was perfect. My room got an upgrade, which was a pleasant surprise as I flew in for my birthday weekend. I got to meet Robin (the owner) and her colleague in the morning... both very friendly, personable and warm. Good genuine people hoping to keep making anyone who stays here feel welcomed. They're around during the day, but don't live on site... there's currently three great rooms to choose from but talks of a 4th and suite on the way and lot of fun things I'm sure I'll get to experience my next visit and first choice stay. Amazing communication before and during my trip, not to mention on fun places to eat, but the Alberta caters to all needs and dietary restrictions. Lots of fun cafes, shops, and whatever your heart desires within walking distance. Easy to find. Hard not to love. We are in the process of moving to Portland and needed a place to settle while we worked on purchasing a house. Michelle was fast to respond when I first sent an inquiry and was incredibly helpful and friendly. We were able to set up a one-month rental with the ability to extend if needed, which we did end up doing! The house is working out perfectly for our family of three (five if you count our dogs, which we were so thankful were allowed to stay here as well). Everything is fresh and new and clean, open and full of light. There is plenty of room for us to stretch out and relax, and our teenage daughter has plenty of space to herself. Even though we arrived while Portland was still in full pandemic closure mode, we enjoyed walking around outside and up and down Alberta St. As we entered Phase 1 and places began to open up, we have been having an even better time. I had my first post-quarantine pedicure in three months just a block away at Alberta Nails & Spa and it was fabulous! We have ordered takeout from multiple local restaurants and everything we have had is terrific. We're happy to have such a comfortable, spacious house to stay in for another month while we prepare to close on our new home.

Everything about our stay here was just great. We were met by one of the owners as we checked in, and there was a nice bottle of Sparkling cider and some carnations left to greet us on the table. This is really a pretty spacious place for 2 or more people with a gas stove, fire stove, an expansive DVD collection, and lots of nooks and crannies for unpacking clothing items. The place is just as tastefully decorated as the home next door, and during the night we were there it was quiet enough that you could almost forget that you were in the city at all. I loved it, and I would be back in a heartbeat...

I am in Portland to visit my son who attends UP so this spot was perfect. I have been able to walk anywhere I needed to go and could park my car outside without paying for parking. Last night I had my son and friend to dinner and a movie. We watched a movie from one of the several selections offered to their guests. The bed was amazing. I travel a lot so I can appreciate the value of a nice place to stay.

Sandy is a patient and motivating yoga instructor if you would like to take lessons but even if you just need to rest and recover from the frantic pace of modern life, I cannot think of a better place to visit. I am not an "outdoorsy" person (although I do love nature) and was worried that the environment would be to bare or that I would stick out like a sore thumb; nothing could be further from the truth. I would have loved to have had a river view but bringing my dogs was more important. I am a birder and enjoyed sitting on the guest patio anytime I could to watch the birds at the feeder, in the flower bed, in the trees, or even in the river. I recorded 13 species of birds in under 30 minutes while just sitting in one spot. The rooms are big and clean. We had a 2 queen pet friendly room because our 14yo son was with us as well. The breakfast is very nice. They have a waffle maker, oatmeal, fruit, pastries, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, etc...

I stayed at this hotel while relocating from California to Portland. During my stay, I left my room…read moreand returned to find that all three of my chargers were missing. I reported the issue to the hotel supervisor, who provided me with the phone number for the Director of Housekeeping. Despite multiple attempts to contact her, I never received a response. When I followed up with the supervisor, he repeatedly told me to keep trying to reach her and wait for a callback. Nearly three weeks have passed, and I still have not received any update regarding my missing belongings. To make matters worse, the supervisor eventually told me that he himself had been unable to reach the Director of Housekeeping for months, yet continued to insist that I keep calling her. I also requested to speak with the hotel manager, but was told she was unavailable and that I should simply wait. The lack of communication, accountability, and customer service has been extremely disappointing. Based on my experience, this location does not make a genuine effort to assist guests when issues arise.

The road getting in and out is fairly tight, but manageable with a little patience. One downside was the early morning noise--on at least two mornings, the neighborhood garbage pickup for nearby apartments started before 6 a.m. and was quite loud. Despite a few inconveniences, the room comfort and friendly staff made this a solid stay overall.
