Our waiter had no personality... asked us if we needed anything and we requested more tea.. it never comes.. our waiter comes back by and asks us if we need anything and we remind them of the tea. He brings the tea and we ask for the check. We are paying with a gift card and the difference on our personal card. Waiter comes back and says the gift card was declined. I inform him we check the balance and it has the money on it. He needs to get a manager to help him. He leaves again and comes back and says the manager and himself tried and it isn't working.. I called the number to the card right in front of him and it said the balance.. he shrugs his shoulders.. I tell him to go get the manager... manager comes and is super friendly says we need to activate the card. I told him there was no activation anything on that card... as the manager stares at the card it dawned on him that they were entering in the wrong card number.... Voila... it worked... but like really Food was sub par... chicken Alfredo... had no flavor.. we had to ask for the biscuits.. they were normal.. The best part was the crab queso!! I won't be back.. if I have another gift card and there is another restaurant.. I'll pick one of those.

This is the BBQ we've been missing. It's located in downtown DeRidder in an old bungalow converted…read moreinto a restaurant and run by some lovely people who really know their food. It's larger than it appears and is very clean. It is handicapped accessible, thankfully, with a ramp on the side and very large bathrooms. The menu is a la carte and the meat is sold by weight, so it is easy to over order by mistake. (I did, severely underestimating how much 1/3 of a pound was. So, I ended up with a generous portion of leftovers for my lunch the next day. Definitely a win-win scenario.) My husband and I both had the 1/3 lb pulled pork and a link of the jalapeño cheddar sausage (also approximately 1/3 lb). There was their own BBQ sauce on the table that others in my party liked, but I thought the pork was very well seasoned as is. The sausage was probably the best I've had, with a great jalapeño taste and lots of cheddar chunks throughout. The casing had a wonderful snap. My DIL had the brisket, so juicy and tender, and my son had the smoked turkey - really a superior meat. I chose the macaroni & cheese as a side. It was super creamy and had green chilies throughout, giving it a nice heat. My husband had the baked beans which he really enjoyed. The other side ordered was the tater tot casserole. That was knock-your-socks-off delicious. It made the famous chain restaurant ("CB") version of hash brown casserole pale in comparison. Seriously, it was unbelievably delicious. Every plate (tray) came with a homemade cucumber pickle and pickled onions, nice to cut the delicious meats' "fattiness." There was also a sweet cornbread muffin that tasted more dessert-y than side dish-y. A lovely young gentleman came out of the kitchen while we were eating to offer us a sample of their "beef bacon" they were trying out. It was really interesting, thin jerky-like beef, but tender with bacon flavoring. If they do decide to offer it, it could be a hit for them. Not picture - my husband got a banana pudding to take home. He thought it was one of the best he's had. The rest of us were too full to think about dessert, something we regretted later on. Yes, this place is a bit on the expensive side, but it was absolutely worth every penny. The meats and the sides were so high quality and delicious, homey food with a five-star treatment.

Ummm where to start??Should've known pulling up at 6pm on a Saturday eve and no cars in parking…read morelot. We should have walked out when saw glass door that was so dirty with finger prints and everything else u hardly could see inside. Saw a few takeout orders come in and out so we reluctantly then Ordered food at counter to then be told after sitting down they were out of what I ordered so I had to order something different. Sat down at table which was so sticky my forearms stuck to it, napkin holder on table was so dusty my finger left mark when drug it across it. Place looked like it had never been cleaned or updated in years. Lights above had bugs galore in lightcover, floors/baseboards dirty, fans above on their last leg/blades. Windows also needed cleaning. By then I still wanted to walk out but I needed to see what the food was like. Trying to give benefit of doubt. Service very slow, looked short staffed. Hoping they washed hands at some point no gloves used with server taking orders, collecting money and touching food/cooking in plain view. When food arrived it looked ok until I tasted the coleslaw it was very bad, looked discolored and tasted old needless to say didn't eat it after one bite, my husband spit his out, then came the fried fish, I wasn't impressed no flavor parts of fish was just batter no meat, also the batter didn't stay on onion rings so as soon as u picked them up batter would fall off onion, Hush puppies tasted old not fresh, definitely frozen great value brand or worse. Didn't finish our meal and that's not like my husband he always finishes. Everything tasted same probably fried all in same grease. Still can't believe we stayed and (ate what we could)of the food. I hope they improve if read this, we like to support local businesses that's why we decided to try COUNTRY BOYS but unfortunately we won't be back. I should've read reviews before I went , last review was awhile back not sure what happened ugh
