I've experienced Twin Door more recently these days because friends of ours frequent this spot. Wasn't really a fan on my first couple of visits but I must admit they're working harder on their menu, their service, and their hometown feel is definitely locked-in! Add to that their entertainment, such as Jersey Shore's favorite one-man blast, Rich Meyer, and this place has become a lot of fun! Enjoyed their long-hot peppers appetizer this evening (with fig and provolone), followed by their fish n chips entree. Decent beer selection on tap too! My wife, son and friends all had interesting dishes as well. Overall, great experience. Still some service hiccups always but their staff is so cool, it's fine. They remedy issues quickly. Recently held a party there, my nephew informed the waitress of his allergies and he was assured those ingredients were not used. My poor nephew took one bite of the food and quickly had a reaction, his mother quickly gave him an epi pen and he was taken to the hospital. Relieved to say he is ok now. No manager or owner came over to check on anyone and they had the nerve to charge for the meal that nearly killed my nephew. My wife and I were looking for a nice place to enjoy the World Cup. We showed up to this establishment and immediately we noticed that the service was sort of slow. We didn't mind it in the beginning but it came to the point to where the lady picking up the dishes was helping make sure we had drinks. All the while our server was too busy watching the game go on and took her time watching the half time show. I would've been okay with it if she hadn't complained about the tip that we gave her right to us. "That's it" as if I would've wanted to tip more. She took my wife to the computer and showed her what she should be tipped. As the customer I don't believe suggested tips should be a guideline for how much you should tip. We tipped our server and the other staff member picking up her task!!! When she took my wife to the computer, I showed up and my wife was already overwhelmed by the situation and we had had a few drinks. We just wanted to be out of the situation and ended up giving into what she was demanding and tipped 20% more on top of what we had originally tipped. We felt like she took advantage of the situation and we did not have a pleasant experience and honestly would recommend to ask for a different server if you get her. read more

Attended a repast here. From what I understand this restaurant has a following and is popular with local people. Water glasses on the table were dirty and one still had lip marks on it from a previous user! Maybe it's time to service the dish washer! In our party of 12, many of us received food that was warm, at best. Portions ranged from adequate to generous, depending on what was ordered. Of note, the size of the shrimp served with a salad were large! Service was adequate. I understand they often have live music, which I believe is a big draw. If you're considering Twin Door Tavern for a group event--especially something as emotional as a repass dinner after a funeral, you should do so. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the food is great--I initially had a disappointing experience but want to share an important and positive update. We recently held a repass dinner here following my mother's passing. Beforehand, the restaurant assured us we would be charged based on the actual headcount. However, after dinner was served, they presented a bill based on their original estimate, which included several extra people who didn't attend due to a snowstorm. We had even called ahead of time to update the count. The manager claimed the extra charge was for a fixed headcount. It was frustrating and felt like the situation was being taken advantage of during a very emotional time. After hearing what had happened from the staff and seeing this review, the owner of the restaurant reached out to my family and me personally. He was extremely polite, apologetic, and committed to making things right and was also clear that a fixed headcount is not their policy for a repass. He refunded the money for the extra headcount and emphasized that their goal is to provide a positive experience for their customers. This interaction made me feel much better about the situation and showed me that this small business genuinely cares about its customers and deserves the support it gets from the community. While my initial experience wasn't ideal, it was a mistake and the owner's actions have restored my trust in Twin Door Tavern, I appreciate their willingness to address and resolve the issue and will continue to book them for future family events. read more

I have to say I've been here a few times just for drinks, but my mom was in the hospital for months and this is on the way back so I figured let me just try it. I was starving. I grab a seat at the bar now this is where my only complaint is. I feel like if you're not a regular you just kind of sit there and wait for someone to come over. I waited a few minutes before I got a menu and even longer to order. But the food was very good. I had their personal pizza and a salad with really great dressing. It's probably homemade it just was very tasty and fresh. They give you a nice pour on your drink drinks so no complaints there. I did go back a second time and I was very happy. I gave their salmon a try and it came with sautéed spinach, which is pretty much my favorite and it was very good. My only thing is I always feel that an entrée that's above $22 Should come with some sort of super salad which I did not so I did skip ordering extra. Twin Door did an outstanding job of taking care of my group. Food and service was excellent, friendly, efficient, and attentive. I grew up in Maywood New Jersey. This restaurant was there when I moved in at age 7. At the time it was called the Maywood Inn. This is a nice pub with a great bar. There's a large dining room in the back. It is pub food, so there were no great expectations. However, I had the crabcakes which were really good. My other guests had fish tacos, really delicious and the sliced steak. Unfortunately, the steak was not cooked to their satisfaction and we had to send it back. But once fixed, it was really fairly good. read more

Wouldn't recommend coming here on a first date though ;) you won't be able to hear each other! They had a unique menu with German dishes (not sure if this was seasonal for Oktoberfest) or if it's here year round. But we had to try the potato pancakes with apple sauce, bratwurst and goulash with short ribs. Everything was so delicious and cooked nicely. Bratwurst was a little bit salty but the sauerkraut was yummy! I would definitely want to come back another time (maybe not on a live music night) and try the other dishes. It wasn't salty as much as I'd expect it to be and the cheese was just right. I gave the goulash a try and it was pretty tasty. A tad salty but not too bad. Generally speaking this place has a nice ambiance, with an older customer base that you'd expect from an old fashioned place. However the folks here were friendly and the food was generally very good. Ive been going to Maywood Inn for several years. Not sure what is going on lately. Was there to see a great classic rock band a few weeks ago with friends and we reserved a table. Granted it was very crowded but the service was not good. First we were told that there was a $30 minimum to sit at a table! Never heard that before. We all ordered food. We waited almost an hour for our food to arrive. Waitresses were not very friendly and appeared to be stressed. Food came out at different times, so some of us were still waiting for food, and some others were eating. Food was generally ok, but a few burgers were well done when asked to be medium rare. They had to go back and that was another half hour. I have worked in restaurants before, and it seemed that it was very understaffed, especially waitresses. My friends and I decided that next time this classic rock band plays there we will eat somewhere else and show up right before the band starts playing. We were disappointed overall. read more

Our server was friendly enough, but she was not very attentive and disappeared a lot. We ordered the $4 Bloody Mary. It was a light drink that lacked flavor. That ended up being a theme here. My husband had the regular eggs benedict and said it was bland. I had the cajun eggs benedict and it was ok. It was very spicy, but not flavorful - you only got heat. What really turned me off was the soggy, un-toasted English muffin and the baked hollandaise sauce. It was so dry. We asked for more sauce on the side and they brought out a saucer full. My manager and I decided to get lunch from this location. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and was greeted. We sat at a booth. We were served by Rosemarie and she was so nice and attentive. I ordered a beyond burger and my manager ordered the chicken breast. When the food came out it looked very good. The beyond burger was good and my manager really liked his chicken. We also had uptowns and they were good as well. The bill wasn't bad either. All in all we had a good experience. read more

Oktoberfest They offer a wide-ranging menu, yet all the adults in our group ended up ordering off their special Oktoberfest menu. For me it was their Roast Fresh Ham w/Sauerkraut, apple sauce, and whipped potatoes. Service was good as the evening rolled on with drinks, appetizers, soups, and salads. When my main course arrived, I realized this is not ham like a ham steak, but rather thin sliced pork with a good gravy. Of course. I think of myself a meat and potato guy, so it was all good. More applesauce would have been better, what I got was about the size of a teaspoon. It was hard to decide between a two and a three but my husband said 2 so I gave it that. We came right at opening to try their brunch. It seems like a good menu, $4 for screwdrivers,mimosas and bloody Mary's. They also had a decent selection of brunch options. We all ordered a round of drinks and then placed Eggs Benedict orders (two regular, two Cajun). First service seemed slow as we were done with our drinks, there were only people at the bar and our waitress didn't come back until our food was there. Second, if you order eggs Benedict you expect hollandaise sauce. You could see the tiny bit on there but it looked as if it had sat under the heat lamps too long and had all dried up. The portions seemed small for hash browns and the Eggs Benedict had very little flavor. We requested a second round of drinks and more hollandaise sauce. When the hollandaise sauce came it looked like it had been made out of a packet and still lacked flavor. The English muffin didn't seem properly toasted so it was just a luke warm dish. The potato's were good, but I left not full (and I'm a small portion person). Overall I wouldn't come back, I just think if there's barely anyone there and you're the first to order the food should come out quick and hot, and done right the first time. read more

Went for Easter Brunch the breakfast station was awful. Bacon and sauages were good, but the Eggs benedic were just dry and on non toast bread with little sauce. The waffles were hard and dry. I've been coming to this restaurant for 15 years and I haven't been here in a couple months but tonight I was here and I ordered the linguine with clams. It said it was little neck clams, but it was not little neck clams because little neck clams are small and white on the inside this was large clams that were almost black on the inside, and there was no seasoning in the pasta dish on top of that. The bathroom was horrendous. I don't know what's going on. I'll try it maybe try it one more time but it's not what it used to be. Totally upset about tonight. I threw out half my dinner because I can't eat those horrible clams. Don't say you're serving little necks when you're serving the cheap bigger clams. read more
