I'm at a loss for words as to why Twin Ravens Press has not been given a million 5 Star reviews! I recently got married and I must admit that the wedding invitations were most definitely my favorite part!! (Well, the getting married part was too!) I stumbled across their webpage and was blown away by the real life examples of other wedding/birth announcements/save the dates/business cards they had on their site. I immediately told my husband that no matter what the cost we were going with Twin Ravens Press. He didn't like that idea but told me to contact them and see if they were within our budget. WELL not only were they within our budget, but we got to help with a custom design!!! We emailed Kristin some examples of certain designs we saw and liked and she came up with an amazing design for our invitations, reply cards and the envelopes! She was easy to "talk" to (everything was done via email) and extremely prompt!! I am now in the process of trying to get my husband on board with having a baby so Twin Ravens Press can do our baby announcements!!! For custom letterpress wedding invitations, Twin Ravens Press not only did an amazing job but were extremely reasonable with their prices. If there has been any aspect of my upcoming wedding that I have obsessed over more, it would have to be the invitations. At first, I told myself (and others) that I couldn't justify spending a lot of money on something that would just end up in the trash. My resolve didn't last long. I kept seeing gorgeous letterpress invitations all over the internet, and I fell in love. I coveted letterpress. I never dreamed I could ever afford them. And then I ran across a recommendation for Twin Ravens Press. Imagine my surprise when I learned it was a local business. Well, I was flat out stunned when I saw the prices. Suddenly, letterpress seemed...attainable. Kristin was kind enough to provide her pricing sheet and explain her services, and invited me to her studio. I spent more than two hours there looking over samples of her work, then talking about the design and wording. By the time I left, I had a pretty solid design that my fiance and our parents thought looked great, and that improved after a few more tweaks. Kristin was patient, friendly, and accommodating with each change - and I was really nitpicky about the color of the envelopes and the wording of the invitations. The final cost of the invites was made very clear in the invoice before I gave the final approval and authorized the work. When the invites were done, Kristin delivered them to me at work, and they were amazingly beautiful and elegant. The invitations have gone out, and friends have commented on how beautiful they are, and how great they feel (letterpress is a tactile experience as well as a visual one). I am very pleased with the service and quality of the invitations, and I look forward to using Twin Ravens Press for baby announcements...some day. read more

I had Kristin do my daughter's birth announcement and could not be happier. In the digital/virtual world, I didn't need to be confined to bricks and mortar shops in the Chicagoland area. I love letterpress and hey, you only get on birth announcement per child so I wanted to make it count! Kristin was really patient with me taking in all of my feedback for revisions and was responsive. She even offered to leverage her corporate discount for photo printing and matted the photos in our birth announcement. The end product was a perfect combination of letterpress and photo with a little hint of wedding invitation vibe. Even my OB/GYN who I had sent an announcement let me know that it was the prettiest announcement she had received! I won't use Twin Ravens Press again. I'm not sure what was going on, but my experience with this business was weird and I totally agree with Jan C's review. Kristin could be rude and her prices kept changing. I'd call her out on it from time to time, and - no apology - just sort of "oh yeah, I was wrong before, it's now this price." After a few times, that gets old. Anyway, I used Twin Ravens Press for some custom work after reading lots of good things about Kristin on Weddingbee. I had contacted many letterpress printers and found her prices to be very low compared to the others. I had hired her to do custom design work, but should not have. I think Kristin would ONLY be okay if you want her to letterpress a design you've already created. Her design work was not good. I wish I could post the initial proof she came up with -- I have no design background whatsoever and I'm pretty sure I could come up with something more aesthetically pleasing than what she came up with in less time. I realized very quickly that she could not be trusted to come up with something that I'd be happy with so I mined through lots of different designs/images, etc to let her know exactly what I wanted. This was not the worst part of the experience though. The worst part was that Kristin would go MIA between rounds of revisions, even though I had expressly told her that the project was quite time-sensitive. When I finally had had enough of emailing her and called her up to see what was going on, she was totally rude to me on the phone. I was floored. Ultimately, the work came out fine but the letterpress printing was so-so. The color was not consistent across the pieces -- they varied from very light (I guess when the roller was almost dry) to very dark (when the roller had been re-inked). I get custom letterpress printing done on a pretty regular basis and I've never seen so much discrepancy across one project. I'll never use this place again, and definitely regret letting my pocketbook guide this decision. Next time, I'll pay $ and get better quality and better service. read more

At first, Kristin seemed like a great fit - but then came the never ending problems. She did not admit to her errors, let alone apologize for them. And, in general, she was not a reasonable person - only thinking of herself and not the customer ...Overall, she was incredibly UNPROFESSIONAL. I will not be using her again. read more

I hired Twin Ravens to do laser-cutting work. At first, it was great...very responsive, good quality. Then came the quality problems, and she went missing in action. As I got more frustrated, she got more nonchalant, never saying "I'm sorry." The quality problems got worse... my customers started rejecting them, and even after showing her the samples, she disavowed that there was a problem. She finally gave me a refund but only after much back-and-forth. The worst part was the arrogance. I now have a new laser-cutting vendor who turns out perfect quality, with great service, for the same price. read more

I hired Kristin to print the wedding invitation suite for my September 2011 wedding. After a ton of research into other printing and letterpress options, pouring over price-lists and portfolios, I believe I made the best decision possible. I was lucky because, unlike so many of Kristin's brides, I live in the Eugene area and was able to actually meet with her, see her shop, and check out her work in person before making my decision. She makes a huge effort to be available to her clients, is prompt in responding to correspondence, and is attentive to your needs and requests. If I needed to make a change, she was flexible and direct. Her graphic design work is wonderful. She has a varied and expansive collection of work, and you can tell that she really listens to her clients to give them the look and feel that they desire. As a graphic designer myself, I designed my own invitation suite. Even if I hadn't, though, I'd have felt entirely comfortable and confidant leaving the design in Kristin's hands. Her print-work is phenomenal. Every piece was perfect. Kristin's skill and talent are just remarkable, and her work truly speaks for itself. Personality and whimsy pour out of each piece, coupled with a feel of professionalism and utmost quality of work. Not only is Kristin's work outstanding, but she herself was a dream to work with. She's sweet, personable, professional, and passionate about her work. For any other letterpress needs, I would hire her without thinking twice. As a designer, I wouldn't be afraid to recommend her to my own clients for their letterpress needs. Kristen was late getting my daughters save the date cards out, which should have been a warning that she would also be late with their wedding invitations. She strung my very kind daughter along, telling her each day "They'll be ready tomorrow," She delayed a week on the proof, failed to correct the mistake on the proof in the final product, breached the due date in her own contract. When my daughter and son in law were finally told their invitations were ready and they arrived to pick them up, Kristen had them sit and wait until she finished the invitations. My daughter got her wedding invitations out THREE WEEKS before her ceremony, which caused her quite a lot of stress and embarrassment. She did cut the deadline close, but the difference between 6 weeks and three weeks before the wedding is huge. Kristen showed zero concern about this, although she certainly knew the date of the wedding and was being contacted almost every day for status. There is NO Kind way to put this: Kristen is incompetent and irresponsible. She should refund 100% of her charges. read more
