Good deal for the money and it's close to Babler SP where we are camping. The boys driving the van were friendly and competent. We did the 9 mile paddle departure at 9 am. The canoe was a bit banged up and filled with sand residue. We got life jackets only so bring cushions to sit on. The portajohns were clean and maintained. We left late because other customers needed a 3rd kayak and the boys had to go get that. so three stars not 4 because of the little details that were not quite up to par. Twin Rivers, also known as Float Eureka (from their website), was my first experience in floating. They tout themselves as the closest to the city, and I'm pretty sure they are. After a short trip to Eureka, we paid up (cash only), and got on their shuttle bus, where they drove us and the canoes to Pacific, to the river access. They got our canoe out, gave us a bag for garbage, and then we were on our own! The experience was enjoyable, though we ended up being on the river all day (they said it would be 5 hours if you just floated - well, it's much longer than that even if you do paddle). The prices seemed reasonable compared to other float trip spots - we paid $45 for a canoe rental on a Saturday - and it included the shuttle ride and drop off. After you get to the stopping point, it was kind of a longer walk back to your car, up a gravel road. Luckily, a nice family with a huge pickup truck was leaving the same time we were and gave us a ride. We had a good experience, and would definitely go here again - but would do the shorter (6 mile) float. read more

Did a float trip on Meramec, it was enjoyable and all went well. When we first go in our raft it had dirt and mud in it already, they probably could wash these down after each trip. The float itself was fine. At the end where the take out was the staff could have been more helpful, there was a strong current and people were struggling to get their rafts into the right place, they could have had someone coming out in the water to help because I am not sure what happens if you float right by. read more

Called Twin Rivers and made reservations about 4 days in advance of a Saturday float and they confirmed the reservations. When we arrived ahead of our reservation they were surprised by our reservation and then unapologetically told us they were sold out. When we asked more questions about why our reservations weren't available they told us we could take 3 canoes (instead of 4) and just jam extra people in. We agreed and then they tried to charge us for having "extra people" in the canoes. After we explained that this was their idea and also would affect our comfort they very rudely told us to take it or leave it and that they don't care if we float or not, that this was the situation. A little bit of customer service goes a long way. They lack any customer service and apparently any ability to actually hold a reservation. We didn't end up floating and their incompetence ruined our day. read more

Bought a Groupon for this place but wasn't able to use it due to owner not answering the phone most of the time and when he finally did he was very rude. Tried for 2 months and when I finally did get him to answer he told me to call back next Monday. I called 12 times throughout the following Monday and nobody answered again. I finally was able to get him to answer Thursday of that week & was told to get a refund from Groupon because he didn't want to honor the deal that I had already paid for 2 months ago. I call another canoe rental place called Forest 44 canoe rental and they were very helpful and helped me get set up on the very first try. Save your time and patience by going somewhere else! We booked a tubing excursion on a Thursday with the family of 5 ranging in ages of 15-52. We also ranged in abilities from first time on a river to well experienced floaters. Booking the event on-line was not difficult but would suggest a way to book the float tubes and the cooler tube at the same time, rather than having separate credit card transactions. The facilities at the farm were far better than expected, the tubes were great, and we were transported to the put in location in an air conditioned van. The float lasted about 3 and 1/2 hours and was for the most part enjoyable. There are a couple of ways it could have been improved. First was waiting for the trip to start. Our ride to put in was late for the time we booked, and then we waited even longer until he got everything ready. This would have been understandable if it had been a busy time. Again, it was a Thursday and we literally saw no one on the river the entire float. The other major issue we had was exiting the float. The take out point was right where the Meramec and Big River merge. We had great difficulty trying to cross, as it was extremely swift and deep. In everyone's opinion it was very dangerous, and we couldn't imagine doing the take out if we would have had smaller kids with us. Our biggest issue was that there was not a word of warning of how swift, deep, and dangerous it was there at the end. A suggestion of best exit route to safely cross would have been helpful. read more

We had a great time tubing with Twin Rivers Canoe. Our tubes were clean as was our cooler carrier. Everything was on the bus to go when we got there for our 1030 arrival. The river was cool and the sun hot! They were there to pull us out at the end! read more

I have booked several float trips through the this company and it has been a nightmare almost every time. The first time, they did not have enough kayaks/rafts/etc. to fulfill our pre-booked reservation. The second time, I was told they didn't have my reservation at all. A few floats went smoothly until the 4th of July this year. I booked 7 inner tubes for my friends. I have always done the 4-5 mile float when I come here and mistakenly assumed that day would be like any other. The first time we heard the words "9 MILES" was on the bus on the way to the drop off point. It took us 8 hours to travel, what I can only assume was half way down the river. We were picked up by some very nice boaters and dropped and the end point. Our delayed travel time was NOT due to excessive stops, we only stopped twice along the beach for 10 minutes each and spent the remaining time trying to float along through water that was not moving. With no paddles. After sending an email to the owner about our experience, we received a response laying the blame squarely on our group. We were told that the drivers of the bus were told by OTHER guests that they wanted to try the 9 mile float and the bus drivers just "went with it". We were told, "Someone in your group must have told them that's what you wanted to do." No one in our group had a clue about the 9 mile option. There were no options provided on the website when we made our reservation, nor were we given a choice about floating distance when we arrived on site. Any floating company knows a 9 mile float never pairs well with inner tubes. We were also told in response that every other group was finished floating by 5:30pm and they couldn't understand "why you had such a problem", which was completely untrue. There was another group in distress at the stopping point because they could not find two of their tubers and the time was approaching 7pm. In addition, there were several other canoe and kayak renters out on the river at that time, trying to make their way to the end as quickly as possible. Moral of the (very long) story, this business is extremely unorganized. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt, but three disasters is a pattern, not coincidence. Sorry to say it because we really enjoyed the fact that it was so close to home. Bummer. read more

Even if this is the last place available to float, DO NOT COME HERE. Made a reservation a week in advance for 4 canoes for our 9 person group and received confirmation of our reservation. When we arrived promptly on time the day of our float trip, the staff had no recollection of our reservation and made it clear that they were totally booked. When pressed further about the loss of our reservation they suddenly were able to provide us 3 canoes instead of the 4 we reserved. They recommended we do 3 canoes with 3 people to a canoe. We agreed. Shortly thereafter, they informed us we would have to pay extra for the 3rd person in each canoe even though we were forced into this situation due to their inability to keep track of their reservations. In other words, they wanted us to pay for their mistake. When we pointed out that we were forced into putting 3 people into a canoe due to their mistake, they rudely responded with "do you want to float or not, I don't care what you do." After losing our reservation, telling us they were totally booked, miraculously finding 3 open canoes, suggesting we could float 3 to a canoe, and then charging us for their mistake, we decided to scrap the whole trip. This place is an absolute joke of a business. We all make mistakes, but when you make mistakes AND you're rude, that's just voluntarily and purposefully providing terrible customer service. Stay away from this place. read more

We had a medium group do a Saturday raft float this summer. There were inconsistencies between what we were told over the phone and what happened once we got there. Over the phone we were told each raft could hold 6 people plus a cooler and we could choose our trip (3.5-hour vs 5-hour run) when we arrived. On our drive down we decided to do the longer run and got excited for the trip. When we actually got there, they stated that the boat limit was 5 people (not 6) plus a cooler and we were limited to the 3.5-hour trip. They let us float with the extra person after we explained their inconsistency in communication. We got stuck with the shorter trip. Other disappointments: - When one group lost GPS signal on the way there (it's spotty out there!), the Twin Rivers group offered very little in terms of directions to their location - We arrived on time, but Twin Rivers was very, very late in shuttling us to the launch site. Do NOT expect your trip to begin at the stated time. You're just waiting in some guy's front yard, so either stand in the heat (with bug spray!) or sit in your car - The "3.5-hour" trip was a little over an hour in actual float time. If we hadn't stopped several times along the way, our adventure would have been cut horribly short - They only take cash. We aren't in the year 1999 anymore, so this shouldn't happen - The "shuttle" is a large school bus with no A/C (not a big deal, but still unexpected) The good: - They don't require you to haul in your trash (just leave it in the boats) - The rafts worked - You can bring whatever food/drink you want (just no glass) Overall, this may have been worth it for $15, but for $30 apiece I don't see the value in booking these guys for our next float trip. read more

They lost our reservation for 4 canoes and said they could do 3 but will charge extra for cramming people and when we told them it was their fault for losing the reservation they said if we don't wanna go we don't have to go. Terrible experience. I called to reserve a large party rental and was quoted a rate. When we showed up, the price was $155 more, and only cash accepted. The staff was very rude. The woman told me that we were never quoted that rate, and walked away. We stood waiting for 15-30 minutes with no explanation of what we were waiting for. The site is remote, and the staff come and go in vehicles. Within 5 minutes of of float, one raft (red)had a leak in the bottom that needed bailing throughout the trip. The other raft (yellow) had a hole in the side, which left an entire compartment deflated. When we returned from the float (SURPRISINGLY), no staff could be found. This company obviously accepts cash so that credit card transactions cannot be stopped, and refunds are impossible. read more

Must read review for several activities!!!!: Worst run business I've ever seen.  The owner only cares about money and doesn't give a crud about it's customers. Three experiences: 1st, Halloween 2013, brookedale farms advertises a pumpkin patch.  My family of 4 visits the farm and pays $10 per person to get in.   We took the hay ride across the street to the pumpkin patch and when we get there, there are not any punkins... Zero... Nothing... Only workers saying they are no pumpkins and the try back next week.  Great!  Too bad the following week and the week after that they still didnt have pumpkins.  Experience number 2: the crusher race/ mid run: my wife and I signed up and were all excited. We went to the farm to participate and found a disorganized mess.  We waited through it and finally got to run.  After that the only issue was over half the obstacles were broken and unusable.  I'm So glad we paid for a obstacle corse and pretty much only got a muddy 5k, minus obstacles.  3rd experience: I know ur asking why does he going back?  Well the owner is the reigning Elk of the year, which I hugely respect, so I keep giving him the benefit of the doubt.  Well we true to rent a raft a "twin rivers" canoe and raft rental, which is essentially brookedale farms... Same company same owner.  We had a raft reserved for the 12 noon float.  At about 1 pm someone finally showed up And told us we may or may not have a raft.   The owner, Jerry kerk, told us they got busy at 1030 and sent all the rafts out.... Nevermind all the groups that thought they had rafts reserved.  We finally got a raft and got on the river at 130pm.   We floated as enjoyed ourselves.  When we reached the landing we attempted to use one of the 3 golf carts parked at the the take-out and were met with anger and physical threats. Evidently you are supposed to walk a quarter mile back to our cars with all our gear while the owner and his employees watched and never bothered to offer to help.  How would we know if they were  for out use or not.  Needless to say my group is extremely disappointed in the "Elk of the year" ownership and will never spend a dime at this place ever again.  I encourage everyone to avoid the farm/float/company at all costs!!!!!! read more
