Our family of four with kids age 5 and 7 joined Twinbrook this summer (2016). (You don't need to live IN the neighborhood to join. I live outside the actual Twinbrook hood.) I am not overstating it when I say it was one of the best decisions we ever made as a family. To start with: the cost is much less than many other area pools. The people are incredibly friendly and welcoming. It's not fancy - but that means we can come "as we are". The bathrooms were redone this year and are nicer by far than many others. We used to go to the City pool, which was ok....but the cool thing about this pool is that my kids - now both excellent swimmers thanks to Twinbrook's swim team, go Ducks!, can generally be allowed to swim, shower, visit the bathroom etc. on their own. There's no stranger danger after one week here -it's very tight knit. The pool is not elbow to elbow with people. There are lots of lifeguards and they learn who you are. Makes it tons more fun and relaxing for Dad and I. As for the swim team - it literally transformed my kids. My kids who have gone to many schools, preschools, daycares and camps declare this the NICEST group of kids ever. My 5 year old didn't swim in June, by July he was swimming in meets and by August (thanks to another Mom who just kindly jumped in and taught him) he can dive off the diving board! My 7 year old struggled to swim 25 meters in June and didn't play any sports. She now dives, can swim a clean butterfly (jealous!) and considers herself "athletic". Her confidence is transferring into other sports. I'm so proud of them and have Twinbrook Ducks to thank. We are a lower-ranked team which means you can excel as a swimmer (we have all stars!) or find a place if you're just learning. By the way, I'm a working Mom and I know swim team schedules can be tough but we are actively working to make it easier for others to join us - so please reach out if you are at all interested in our little slice of heaven. We joined the Twinbrook Pool 5 years ago when we had a toddler and a kindergartener, at the urging of friends who lived nearby. It has been a wonderful way for us to get to know people in the community, exercise, and have fun. Both of our children became excellent swimmers at the pool by participating in pre-team and then the Swim Team. As part of MCSL, it is run by parent volunteers with paid coaches and it provides a great team atmosphere. All the things that kids are supposed to gain by participating in sports? Your kid will get it here regardless of their skill level. The Ducks cheer for everyone! There are kids and families at the pool from a variety of schools nearby. The pool is a quiet oasis hidden in the Twinbrook neighborhood- surrounded by trees and grass, it is a great place to spend the day or evening in the summer. The lanes are never crowded if you want to swim laps, and the pool is big enough to get away from splashing kids if that is what you want. There are people of all ages at the pool and people are very friendly. We love that it isn't fancy- it is clean and maintained but it is a historic pool that was hand-dug after World War II, when Rockville was growing quickly during the baby boom. read more

Twinbrook Pool is a hidden slice of heaven! I spent countless summers here growing up. It really is a little family. The pool itself is amazing - 50 meters long! With a diving well. They just redid the bathrooms - they look beautiful! The lawn is huge and there's plenty of room to spread out. There's also a deck and a grill that can be used to rent space for parties. I was on the swim team for 9 years and then coached for 4 years after that. Since we are in a lower division, everybody gets the chance to swim! The Ducks gave me confidence and I loved getting to compete. As a coach, because the team wasn't too big, I got plenty of time to give individual attention to each swimmer. Even though I don't swim or coach anymore, I will always be a Duck! I'd highly recommend that people give this pool a chance - it's a tight-knit, welcoming community that would love to see the pool grow! read more

I am in my 50's and as a child my parents were part of the opening of Country Glen Club. Once the parents opened it they immediately started swim lessons and swim team. Come full circle and the Twinbrook Swimming pool staff taught my Kids how to swim when they were little and what an awesome experience to watch the legacy of aquatic safety carried to another generation. We have been members of this hidden gem of a pool for over 25 years. I love everything about it! My daughter swam on the swim team growing up and enjoyed being outside everyday in a safe and welcoming environment. Folks are able to take advantage of the lap lanes every day and water aerobics classes when offered. It's so great to exercise outside during the summer while staying cool in the pool! Our community is friendly and dedicated to keeping this neighborhood pool open for many years to come. read more

I love Twinbrook Pool. Not only is it a little wooded oasis in the suburbs, but the people make you feel part of a community. I joined the pool for the first time this summer. I have an infant and an almost 3 year old. We go to the pool almost every evening. We often bring dinner and sit at one of the many shaded picnic tables. My 3 year old loves running in their large grassy section as much as she loves the pool. We plan on being members for many years to come. read more

We have belonged to the Twinbrook Pool for over a decade. We love the friendly neighborhood atmosphere and the large grounds and pool. The swim team is a great way for kids to learn to swim and compete. Having a membership to the pool has been wonderful and we plan to stay members for many years to come! read more
