Was in town visiting friends for a long weekend and we had spent most of our day at a music festival and we were famished. Told my friend that I could go for a GOOD sandwich or turkey burger and she immediately said, "I know where to take you!" Walked in to a super cute atmosphere and was blasted with two large cases of deliciously sinful looking desserts, breads, and a menu of American staples. While waiting in line to order our dinner, clearly we had to order several items for sweets and I make no apology for all the cookies and petit fours we took home; and I cannot wait to indulge again really soon. Side note, the Saturday I was in there, it was the 30th anniversary of my dad's passing and I always try to do/eat something that reminded me of him and Twin's had their version of "pecan sandies" or Mexican wedding cookies and it was like my dad was there with me. Tried it out because it was close to where my son was playing ball. Reviews seemed decent so worth a shot. It's counter service, so no real way go rate service. The ambiance can best be described as controlled chaos, everyone jockeying for an open table, even while you're eating, there's someone measuring how many bites you have left, as they stand awkwardly beside you. The burger was good and the fries were fresh. The only reason it's not a 5 review, is because i am from Texas and while it was good, it wasn't great and nothing that i haven't had back home, from the 20+ burger joints around me. King cake review! Twin's has king cakes and they're really good! I already knew that Twin's has amazing gingerbread cookies and have been impressed by their turtles and petit fours as well, but I did not know that they also did king cakes until this year, when one was brought to my office. They are version is like the traditional way king cakes are done...aka not a donut. We had the Bavarian cream one and it was delicious. I'm so glad to add Twin's to my list of places to get a good king cake in Acadiana. Now I have another reason to visit them. This Louisiana gal moved away over 30 yrs ago and hasn't had a king cake since. My nieces surprised me with a delivery of a pecan praline king cake and 2 gingerbread men for my birthday. Purchased for a friend and found them a bit pricey, yet slightly convenient since the shipping was included in the cost (ie. no surprises). Pleasantly amazed when the largest king cake I've ever seen was delivered. Tastes fabulous and made with excellent quality. Delivered overnight so it was fresh. The website says they ship on Monday through Thursday via FedEx. But they do not offer a tracking number or email confirmation. I checked my bank, saw that my credit card was charged and poof! it was delivered the day it hit my card. I guess you just have to trust the small pop and pop operation. This is a nice, local burger joint with a plus being the large variety of sweets and deserts. For a while, they didn't offer fries here but now they have some really good fries but I'd still like to see some homemade onion rings, lol. The burgers and hotdogs here are fresh and made to order with fast and friendly service. For the desserts you can get something small or just take en entire cake home for later. I would love an honest explanation, As being part of the service industry, this quite frankly makes no sense to me, unless it's for reasons of lack of funds from the owners, or just out right forcing customers to pay for your overhead? Covid has been hard for all, customers, businesses, and employers. But this, you are aware of the business you're in, prices of products vary by the week, but now, during this trying time for all, you are now adding you're own made up 10% tax from your supporting customers pocket to help you pay for the products you choose to serve in your establishment? I am now pushed an extra 10% for absolutely nothing other than helping you pay for the ingredients in the product i'm already paying for? Not too mention the margins you guys are making on the "sweets" side of things is already enormous. You hit the community that has supported Twins for all of your lifetime, with a made up Tax to keep your own pockets full during these trying times. News flash, it's not only your business that things have gotten a bit more expensive for, but hey! Make an extra dime where you can when you know the community will continue to eat here anyway. I have not seen this in a single other business during these "tough times" because it's straight up wrong. Is the 10% tax to help pay the employees to not have 3 incorrect orders come out of the kitchen? Or maybe to fix water puddled tables from the ceiling leaks? I was a little apprehensive when I read it had two patties, but they weren't that big. The burgers are well seasoned and come straight HOT off the grill. Fries are crispy and delicious. There is tons to choose from here. My husband gets the evil twin burger which come with bacon and jalapeño grilled onions and spicy Cajun mayo and that makes for a really fantastic burger. I'm a big fan of their turkey burgers, hot dogs, and gingerbread men. The turkey burgers are moist and not dried out, the bread is sweeter than your usual hamburger bread but it soaks up the juicy burger just right for me. My kids and I do enjoy their hotdogs, and like I said, the ginger bread twins is what we usually come here for.
