The women behind the counter were patient and friendly as we looked over the menu to pick out what delicious things we'd have for lunch. We settled on two hot dogs (chili, mustard, slaw, and chili, mustard, onions) a cheeseburger, and onion rings. The hot dogs were good. They might not have been the prettiest but I really liked their chili. The burger was good, I wish I had gotten it without tomato. The thick-sliced tomato kinda overpowered the other flavors of the burger. The Onion Rings! THE ONION RINGS. Phew....They were awesome. Breaded liked they were fried chicken they were super crispy and so flavorful. The interior is classic, wood paneled with red/orange booths and several large mounted fish around the perimeter of the ceiling. Burger Chick is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. We had such an experience recently at McCabe's BBQ in Manning, South Carolina. Driving north on I-95 from Jacksonville, my wife declared, "I want some barbecue for lunch." As she was driving I was tasked with finding a place where we could dine. Using Yelp, I first found a different bbq restaurant. Got great reviews. Served bbq. Yep, met all of the requirements. Yet some fellow Yelpers stated that it was only serving food to go. Nope. We need to sit and eat! Hence we ended up at McCabe's. Thank the heavens. The food heavens. It's a small unassuming place in Manning. I have no idea what else may be in Manning. Look, I didn't even know Manning was a place before today. Trust me. Stop in Manning. The food is served buffet style, but the incredibly friendly staff actually puts the food on the plate for you. We each had the all you can eat dinner. Because why not? There's lots of side choices, I had the "dirty" rice with hash on it. Honestly I can't tell you what's in the hash or how the rice is made, but it was amazing. The collard greens are some of the best I ever had, and the slaw, while a bit sweet for my taste, was still really good. There were also yams, okra, green beans, cabbage and stewed tomatoes. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. The pulled pork is phenomenal. On the table is Carolina bbq sauce (vinegar based. Not for everyone but i enjoy it). There is also fried chicken. I had a really disappointing experience at D&H tonight…read more I called around 7:20 to place a pickup order, and the person who answered was rude and told me I needed to come in to order they weren't taking any call in orders since they close at 8pm. So I hung up and drove there like they said. When I got to the drive-thru and tried to order a fish and shrimp plate, I was then told they weren't cooking fish or shrimp anymore tonight. That would've been helpful to know when I called. I use to enjoy this place but things have changed and i will never be back again. It honestly felt like the owner wasn't there, because the service and communication were way off compared to what you'd expect. Just a frustrating experience overall.
