This was a hidden gem for sure!! It's an eclectic looking building with a random variety of items…read moreto purchase, local I would guess, which was already cool. The building is a combination of other buildings that you just want to explore, but on the inside, most are open for dining. And I would imagine in peak season, they need the space! The buffet was delicious, affordable, with beverages included in the price! Service was great, too! They make up your plate for you, fill your drinks, and even bus your table. Conveniently located right outside of Santee State Park or near the Santee National Golf Course, it's an easy trip to make no matter why you are in town!! The buffet is Southern Comfort foods at their best, BBQ, collards, fried fish, veggies, etc and it gets an additional items for dinner. Check it out if you're in the area!!

We were driving south on 95 and wanted to find a place to sit down for lunch but not take too long…read more This place fits the bill perfectly. It is only about 2.5 miles off I-95 at the entrance to the state park. We got to the road with no problem but passed it and had to turn around. It is tucked off the side of the road. As other reviewers mentioned, it is a buffet (no other option). You are separated from the food by a plexiglass shield, and you just point to what you want. Yes, the fried chicken was fabulous, and the pulled pork was good, too. Since I hadn't ever had tomato pie, I can't compare it to others, but it was good. All home cooked food... If you are on a diet, you might want to skip it. The only sugar-free drink offering was unsweet tea as the diet pepsi was out. I opted for 1/2 sweet and 1/2 unsweet. They fill your drinks for you and check on you in the dining area. Banana pudding for dessert? Yes, please!

The best barbecue almost always comes from those unassuming hole in the wall places. My inner voice…read moreof confidence, the one that says "it's gonna be great," was already humming before I even stepped inside. At first glance, I wondered what exactly this industrial looking neighborhood had to do with good food. Still, I parked, walked in, and was immediately greeted by the unmistakable aroma of meat that had been slow smoking all day long. A very kind older lady welcomed me and explained that the buffet was all-you-can-eat for just $17. That sounded easy enough. I grabbed a plate and began my journey down the line. There were the staples: rice, collard greens, fried okra, hush puppies. Then came the showstoppers. A massive tray of mac & cheese, golden fried chicken, barbecue chicken, and pulled pork that looked like it had been tended with care. Oh, my. Off to the side sat squeeze bottles of sauce and ketchup, flanked by potato salad, cole slaw, and two varieties of pickles that added a crisp counterpoint to the richness of the meats. I ate far more than I intended, but every bite was worth it. The mac & cheese was excellent, very cheesy and full of flavor. Maybe not quite as good as when Mrs. K. blesses me with her recipe, but still, excellent. The barbecue chicken was moist and seasoned just right. The pulled pork was some of the best I have had, with a few larger pieces mixed in that gave it texture and depth. It was so good it really didn't need any sauce at all. If desserts were offered, I didn't see them. A small scoop of banana pudding would have tied the whole experience together in a perfect knot. Even without it, this was a five-star meal in my book. Yum, and then yum again. [Review 1512 of 2025 - 1366 in South Carolina - 25063 overall]

If you go in the front door there are a few steps to climb. If you need flat entrances they are around back. The host took us to our seats and explained the buffet to us. It is only a buffet place. But you can order a take out as well. There were two tables of food and a dessert table. The salad bar seemed to never end. Everything was cut fresh with no limp vegetables or lettuce. Marilyn brought me coffee and Bev Tea. It was plenty hot and fresh. I absolutely love their coffee. I had two cups before I even finished my plate of food. Marilyn was very attentive to each table and came to ours often. After I finished my salad. I saw Carie filling a plate for someone. When she was done I asked her if she could get me a chicken breast. My joint pain and back pain had been extreme this week. Using the walker was even painful. Carie said, "Absolutely !" She returned quickly and with a smile. The staff is so kind. The manager Tommy came by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal. I let him know the salad bar was perfect. The chicken I enjoyed was tender and juicy. I also noticed the teamwork between the staff was easy and natural like a choreographed dance. Bev and I plan to return for the Easter Sunday Meal. Check this pace out and tell them Willie and Bev sent you. Ms. Willie Conway.
