We held a 60th birthday dinner here and the staff and overall experience were lovely. I had the Cajun Pasta. Beware it was spicy!!

Was traveling through Texarkana, TX and needed some dinner...stopped in at Twisted Fork. I was seated and my server was Abby who got me a beer while I looked over the menu. Decided on the wedge salad and the Baja Tacos. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen but my tacos are delivered to my table BEFORE the salad, when I asked about the salad the lady said it should be out "soon" {sigh}. A few minutes later the salad arrives while I was looking disappointedly at the tacos. I even asked Abby if this was the normal amount of meat provided on the tacos and she said yes...oh well. Salad was OK, a bit drowned in Blue Cheese dressing but it was an OK salad. The tacos...totally missed the mark. They were supposed to be "3 flour tortillas filled with grilled & blackened red fish, topped with slaw and cilantro cream". There was basically one "fish nugget"...inadequate, the "blackened" was more like tanned so no blackened flavors, while the cilantro cream didn't do anything to improve the dish. I guess I could have sent it back but I combined one into the other two to make them a bit more like a meal. Service from Abby was good, but overall not a huge fan of this meal. read more

Wow, wow, wow! A truly fantastic meal! Our first impressions walking in weren't super great due to an unfriendly hostess, but everything else was amazing. She just stared at us as we walked in, no welcome, and not a single bit of souther hospitality that I expect from a small town establishment. The food was superb, though! My husband and I both ordered the wedge salad and the chicken capres. The chicken was sous-vide with cherry tomatoes, spinach, mozzarella cheese, balsamic glaze, and fresh basil. Plus it was gluten free! Omg, the most tender and juicy chicken I think I've ever had! I chose the grilled okra as my side and I was not disappointed. The food was mid and priced too high to not have at least one side that complements it. Also the white wine additive in the Cajun pasta, was a choice and not an awesome one. Blackened fish was good but mostly covered in paprika with an under salted sauce. Crab dip had more taste than the entrees, could've used more texture. We were promptly seated at a table, the restaurant has a large bar area that was very busy and a food sized restaurant space that is casual and comfortable. I started with the crab dip with pita and it had very good flavor and seasoning. I ate way too much of this. I then had the salmon with a chili glaze. The salmon was slightly overdone but the chili glaze added a great flavor to the salmon. I also had the glazed sweet potatoes that were excellent. I had a cocktail that was pretty good. My husband and I stopped here for an early dinner during a road trip from Dallas...Super glad we did! We were greeted by a very friendly front host crew and also had great service from our server Ashlyn. The food came out fresh and warm. Everything not only looked good, but tasted good too! We could tell that this business chooses to use quality ingredients and is a local favorite since the restaurant started to fill up pretty quickly on a Friday evening. I went here for the Burgers. On a long road trip and typed burgers for Texarkana. Twister Fork was No. 1 on Yelp in the city for just a few days ago. On a long road trip and really just wanted an awesome burger. The Black and Bleu burger was good, just not awesome. Tasted good and large portions which I shared no problem. Came in on Valentine's for dinner. We sat at the bar. Great food and fantastic service! We started off with the wedge salad and Cesar salad. Both salads were delicious and good serving. We had the filet dinner with fingerling potatoes and asparagus topped with crab. The filet was super tender, paired well with the sides. We also ordered the Cajun pasta, huge portion we split it but still had lots of left overs. The pasta was cooked perfectly, it came with lots of sausage, delicious mushrooms, crawfish and shrimp. We ended the night with the best carrot cake ever! I love that it has lots of nuts and the carmalized walnuts were delicious. Huge slice! The Valentines strawberry cheesecake was good with the Oreo crust but it could have been set for a bit longer. It didn't stay together like a regular cheese cake. I just love a Wedge Salad and their version is excellent Service is a little slow but nothing to complain about.

The name "Twisted" definitely applies. I was definitely surprised at the preparation twists I experienced with my order. I started with a Caesar salad, which was made with iceberg lettuce rather than romaine, grated cheddar cheese on top rather than grated or shaved Parmesan, cherry tomatoes cut in half rather than seasoned croutons, and creamy Cilantro dressing (very spicy) as the dressing. Oh, and it had tiny tortilla chips on top as well - strangest Caesar EVER! (See pic) For my entree I had blackened redfish tacos and hand cut fries. I have to say that I really liked the fish tacos - they actually went well with my Caesar salad! However, the next twist was sugar on my fries which I assumed was a mistake or accident. To my surprise, the waitress said that is the way we make them - "they just put all kinds of spices on them"! What???? Why not cinnamon or peppermint for heaven's sake? Doubt I will ever return, but if I do, I hope I remember to order the taco salad - maybe I will finally get a good Ceasar! read more

The Twisted Fork is highly rated on the Yelp app; i have to say that it's good but not maybe a 4.5 of 5. Greeting is great, two guys at the podium working the seating chart. Josh, got the short straw and he was our host and waiter-server. During th3 course of dinner, it was evident that Josh is an amiable fella. We're offered drinks, we're offered appetizers. While Josh retrieves the glasses of water, we peruse the menu. I tell Josh I'm looking for a glass of Pinot Grigio; he thinks they have Estancia but they don't. We agree on another and he's off to the races, along with our order. No basket of bread, no chips and salsa - we're down to business. I order the wedge salad, add chicken. The hubby orders ribeye, side salad, roasted sweet potato medallions. No appetizers are necessary, as i mention there's key lime pie with ginger snap crust ... doesn't that sound yummy. Josh tells us that he's not a sweets eater, and all desserts are made in house. This should be good. The hubby's side salad arrives, and he scarfs that down. Shortly the entrees arrive.The ribeye is huge, and to my eye a bit dark but what do i know (how many times do i order ribeye???), the sweet potato medallions are there. My salad is tall, fresh looking, with several little chunks of grilled chicken around the lettuce wedge. There's little grape tomatoes, a smattering of bacon crumbles, feta cheese and a "moat" of salad dressing. All is cool. We eat, it is good. Then the hubby insists (he's a big sharer) that i have a bite of his beef with my salad. Argh! This is not good. The only word that comes out is "scorched." He nods his head and soon gives up on the steak, but continues with the potatoes (i tried one and it was tasty). I ask what does he think was done wrong, too high a heat, too long on the grill, or maybe a dirty grill? He suggests the flame was too high, and it's too bad because cooking this way gets in the way of flavor and taste of the meat. Josh comes by, we're done and he takes our plates. H3 does ask if we want to box the steak, as there's about a third remaining. Hubby declines. We agree on the dessert, and share we remaining cutlery (no fresh cutlery accompanied dessert). The dessert was a disappointment. There was no key lime flavor, okay maybe there was a hint now and then. I had high expectations for the crust, i mean we're talking ginger snaps -- a family favorite! The cookies were so packed, so munged together that it was hard to work through it. I must admit i woman handled it a bit to break a piece off. It was somewhat better than the pie filling. Well at least i have a good idea to try in making this pie combo at home. On my way to the restroom (backside of the bar area) i walked right in front of a pizza oven. Maybe that's their specialty, and i should have gone that route. Additional note, i suggest they upgrade the napkins to something with a higher cotton content, these were push around pieces of cloth. read more

We came in from out of town, and immediately jumped on yelp to get a good recommendation for a place to eat. The twisted fork stood out we arrived. The hostess was very friendly, and there seem to be a very fun trivia night happening in the bar area. it was packed full of people, and everybody seemed to be having a good time. We were seated in the dining area. There were many families and the children were very loud, screaming playing in the isles it was not a very relaxing atmosphere. The waitress was slow to arrive, but very friendly. Once she did our food was OK not exceptional, but okay definitely a three star in my, but I would give it to on a different night. I asked the hotel front desk for recommendations and this place was on the list. A quick 6 minute drive from the hotel. The place was pretty busy on a Tuesday evening. Service was amazing!! Interior was a little worn down, some paint chipping on the walls. The food was ok, not amazing but not terrible. All the dishes we tried were mediocre. We had the crab dip, it was good but we have had better. The ranch they make is not very flavorful, doesn't have much flavor. The red fish was good however the mango chutney was so full of just red onion that's all you could taste so we could not enjoy that part of the dish. Risotto was missing some seasoning, was prepared well though. The jalapeño cheese grits was the star of the show. That was delicious and I highly recommend!! The food was pretty good. The service is what dropped it down to 3 stars. I walked in at 8PM on a Monday by myself (they close at 10PM). I was told to sit anywhere so I picked a spot in the bar area near a TV so I could watch some college basketball. I sat there for about 5 min and no one came to my table. I went to the host stand to officially check in and the host told me to sit wherever. I sat for 5 more minutes before someone showed up. I think the server was in the back taking care of her closing work but both people that told me to sit down should have said something. I saw the pictures of the lobster tacos on Yelp! So I thought I'd give those a shot. I also had a small spinach salad. The salad came out first. It wasn't all that small. It's not a whole meal but it was decent sized. The balsamic dressing was good and went well with the strawberries. The sunflower seeds added good texture. The onions weren't overwhelming but added good flavor. The tacos were solid. It was three tacos. They don't look big but they are stacked pretty high so there was a decent about of food. I asked for the chipotle crema on the side and it came on the tacos. The server fessed up and said she forgot to give the kitchen the note. That was a nice change from the "the guys in the back screwed it up" line you usually get. Enjoyed our meals and server! We both had the ribeye steaks, done perfectly! Sides were excellent especially the Mac N Cheese! Go hungry! Desserts were amazing! We took them to go. First & last time! Came in a bit late ordered a beer & asked for a menu. The bartender informed me all they were offering was pizza and was that alright? Not what I was hoping for but I did notice a brick oven so maybe still a tasty dinner? Ah nope! I settled on a pizza called "Billy's Balsamic" Marinara, goat cheese, pepperoni, caramelized onion, wild mushroom, balsamic drizzle $16 1. They didn't use the brick oven 2. The crust was like cardboard 3. The "wild" mushrooms weren't 4. The balsamic wasn't good quality and it was drizzled but more like an oil spill! On top of that the bartender was more concerned with re-stocking and closing then even bringing me a plate. There was a friendly waitress that paid attention to me and ended up getting my tip. We stopped for the night in Texarkana and found this gem. I had strawberry limeade and my husband had the orange margarita; both were great! I had the twisted Caesar salad with Buffalo shrimp. My husband had the seared tuna. My husband licked his plate clean. They had live music which was a nice bonus. Service was great too. WOW BUT NOT WOW. A place like this should inspire wows and glances of approval from every diner. It didn't from us. I think the lighting is cold, first off. The place lacks warmth and and the feeling of relaxation. My ribeye had too much off-flavor from a gas broiler. The cut itself was excellent; prime, I'm sure, but sliced thin, about 1/2-inch-thick, a steak you would get at a bar rather than a place like this. And on a thinner steak, you had better be careful how you flavor it. This sear would have been good on, say, a 1 1/2-inch cut. Sear is supposed to enhance the flavor of the meat not dominate it. This was total domination. Everything else was pretty good, but it was the price that had the WOW factor. read more

Had appetizers and drinks. They had a good selection of scotch and the mixed drinks are good. The side salad is smaller than I expected even for a side. And the ranch dressing had dill in it. No big deal but would have been nice to know in advance. The creme Brule cheesecake was good but not exciting. I don't think brule-ing the top added anything to the cheesecake.
