So disappointed! The ribs were so dry, chewy and absolutely bland. The meat texture was as if someone had heated them in the microwave... leathery. As for the sides, the twisted corn was decent, but watery, and the mac and cheese had no flavor at all :-( I spent 50$ on under-seasoned, overcooked food. I will not return. Think cafeteria style. As a family of four, we ordered pint of cucumber coleslaw (unique twist and delish!), pint of beans, quart of Mac n cheese (gooey), pulled pork, and turkey. Best BBQ in the area and I actually liked the Texas style queue before they changed it to sit down. The only thing missing is more smoke so you smell like Texas BBQ. The brisket was good and a large enough portion, the pork sandwich with some of those delicious pickles and onions they put on the side was very good, the potato salad was decent, the coleslaw was great, the Mac and cheese was tasty (thank you for not overcooking the pasta), and the cookie was delicious. Well, I think I found my new fave bbq spot. We tried Twisted Pit over the weekend, and everything we ordered was amazing. I had a pulled pork sandwich with smoked pineapple, my husband had a Philly, and both were so good and piled high with delicious smoked meat! Even the sides (we had mac n cheese, green beans, and street corn) were fantastic. Chef Evan and the staff are so friendly and gave us samples of the brisket - juicy and tender! Definitely adding this one to our faves list. Even though we had take-out, there was ample picnic-style seating inside and outside. Decided to eat here today in conjunction with a car show going on there. Our server, Cassie, was very friendly and attentive and a high spot of the visit . We had a rib plate with jalapeño cheddar sausage with beans, my friend had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw. I found the ribs to be chewy and not a lot of flavor (under seasoned in my opinion). While the beans weren't to my liking, the bread and butter pickles and pickled onions were a good addition. I did enjoy the sausage. My friend's pulled pork sandwich was good as was the slaw. The portion size was adequate and with sweet tea and a coke, the bill was 47.00 plus change with an added tip. This is a fair price in today's culture. New spot in Lakewood Ranch Main Street. Not a frequent at LWR Main St, but was told about this spot and wanted to check it out. It's a BBQ joint in an upscale neighborhood, what can go wrong... As soon as you walk in you are being attended to by the staff. Nice picnic tables inside and outside eating. Great for small groups and mid-size groups. I'm sure they can accommodate large groups also. Also has a bar for adult beverages. I had the spare rib plate. Have to say that I was pleasantly surprised on the juiciness and tenderness of the ribs. The plate includes one side. You can order additional side not expensive. I had it with the street corn. Very delicious, fresh esquite. I would just add some type of Tajin, but without it worked. They also have a pineapple cucumber salad, that was a great side. Wife had the pulled pork plate. First off, let me preface this by saying I went into this with an open mind and was not trying to compare it to anything. However, after ordering, picking up and eating I was not impressed. The restaurant itself is odd, most likely because they started as counter order then went to full service. But you can tell the energy isn't there. Now the important piece, the food! My issue with having that many sides is (A) you tend to lose focus of the meats and (B) unless you're consistent it's a black hole. We ordered the Mac and cheese, coleslaw, collards, and street corn. The Cole slaw was my favorite at 7.5/10, Mac and cheese 6/10, street corn 5/10, collards 3.5/10. The coleslaw was familiar in a sense that it felt like you could get it at any BBQ stand and be satisfied with it. The Mac and cheese was just kind of there, not good not bad just there, not well seasoned it just felt forced. The street corn was corn, cheese and a lot of water, next! The collards were not fun at all. They just sort of tasted like wet kale boiled in broth. Finally! The meats. Let me start this off by saying I pride myself on being able to sniff out good BBQ. I had a combo of brisket marbled, pulled pork, and jalapeño sausage. The star here was the sausage by far! Salty, smoky, would definitely get again! The other 2, not so much. The brisket, while tender was not seasoned and had no smoke flavor. The pulled pork again, no smoke flavor, zero seasoning. Almost had the taste of an oven roasted pork butt. The sauces were decent, my only griff was the Alabama White. Overwhelming apple cider vinegar flavor. Ruined the sauce. Other than that, overall I want this place to do well and i want to try it again! I will be back for a redemption trip! read more

We moved to Sarasota from Austin and were disappointed with the BBQ until we happened upon Twisted Pit. The marbled brisket is cooked perfectly and rivals Franklin's and Black's in Austin. The jalapeno cheddar sausage is on point too. The service is outstanding and the owner is always friendly and accommodating with requests. They also have a great bar.
