Had a good visit to Bricks Smoked Meats. The ambiance was great, and we sat at the bar, where the service was very good and attentive. I ordered the brisket plate with collard greens and mac and cheese. The brisket itself had good flavor, but unfortunately, a noticeable portion of the half-pound serving was fat that was essentially inedible -- probably around an eighth of a pound. The sides were tasty, but the portions felt a little small. My wife ordered the two-meat platter with turkey and sausage, along with potato salad and coleslaw. The turkey was good, but the sausage was a little bland. The surprise highlight of the meal was actually the jalapeño poppers we ordered to start. They were excellent and probably my favorite thing we had. Overall, it was a good experience with a nice atmosphere, good service, and some solid food. There were a few misses, but nothing that would keep us from coming back. I'd likely return, although I'd probably try something different next time. read more

The restaurant is at downtown Sarasota. Parking is easy. There is a garage on top of the building for the first hour free. We were here due to a coupon with discount. We have the two meats combo and the smoke chicken wings. The two meats combo we have is the brisket and the sausage. The brisket is always my favorite. They are juicy and tender. The smoke wings also good. Love it. The two side are collars green and Brussels sprouts. Overall is good experience. Service is kind of odd. Met a friend here for lunch and we were both looking forward to some good BBQ. This place definitely has the right vibes, it feels like you walked into Texas. The service is also friendly and attentive. We were a bit disappointed by the meats though. We both got the trio of meats and selected different items. The smoked turkey was probably our favorite. The brisket portion seemed smaller than 1/4 lbs and was on the thinner and drier side. The ribs were okay but lacked the wow factor. Pulled pork was good and sides were good too. Bbq is graded on the quality of the meats have 3 stars this time. Other times I've come here I'd have given it a 4 star rating so I'll be back to give it another go. read more

I love to drink cider over beer and they have a wonderful selection. They have some of the best deviled eggs, corn, Brussel sprouts and bacon wrapped jalapeños. The environment is so nice with indoor and outdoor seating. They have some cool merch when you walk in you cannot miss it. Overall, I highly think you should come and check this place out. We're always up to give a place a 2nd try and today was that day for Brick's. The Texas Trio hit the spot with ribs, puled pork, and brisket. Sides of potato salad and pit smoked beans and had to snag a serving of Texas caviar which always is a home run! Wife didn't have my size appetite and had a pulled pork sandwich. Meats in order of deliciousness. 1) The ribs were great. Almost wished I had ordered a double order of ribs. 2) Pulled pork, absolutely love the bark. That char lets you know it was done right. 3) Brisket came up last, was good but had more fat than I like, tasted like it was pulled a little early and didn't render the fat all the way, I like a good long-time earned smoke ring. My wife's pulled pork sandwich was kind of fatty, too. Those are what kept that fifth star off the board. The potato salad was light and delicious, liked the way they did that. Couldn't stop eating the beans, and the Texas caviar, I'd eat a bowl of that as a meal in itself. Saw a blood orange Old Fashion on the menu so had to give that a try, too. Perfect pairing with the meal. Definitely a much better experience than the last time, it's always good to see a second chance work out so well. I think the ambiance is spot-on for a Q-joint and wait staff is friendly and attentive. An overall delicious experience. Now render that fat out and get that 5th star! read more

Nice, modern BBQ restaurant. Went for lunch during the week and it wasn't too busy. I had the gluten free brisket tacos and they were great. One in our party had the bacon jam burger and said it was really good, as well as a brisket and rib platter. Although my son said the brisket had a bit of peppery spice, it might have just been the piece he got. Extremely boring meats that claim to be "smoked". Not a single ounce of Smokey flavor in any of the meats. I tried the chicken wings, pulled pork, and brisket. Was so excited to taste this place because of how good I always smelled walking by. Such a big let down. Very oblivious manager and waitress to what needed to be done to fix the experience. They just giving us things we didn't ask for or even want to "make it up to us". Super weird. Waitress kept sending manager over to speak for her and it was just awkward. We got tied up in a protest on Bayfront so having a reservation proved to be a smart move. Friendly service- my sangria was very good as was my brisket sandwich. The fries were good too but the brisket stole the show for me. The sweet bbq sauce added flavor as well. We never felt rushed and everyone enjoyed their meals( 2 vegetarians so salad and my wife ordered a burger). Ambiance is industrial with tv's scattered throughout. Stopped by Brick's on my drive through Sarasota. The pictures online and the good reviews persuaded me, and the hype was real. Service was incredibly great. Our server was super friendly, and she told us about th history of Brick's and how they have the largest smoker in the state! I got the smoked turkey breast and the brisket, with street corn and mac and cheese as my sides. Everything was super tasty! Overall, I can understand why Brick's upgraded from their food truck days. The restaurants itself has a very rustic fun vibe and when it's nicer weather, it can open up to let fresh air in! Occasionally there is a farmers market that happens in the area right outside this restaurant which makes it super fun to stop in and grab a bite and also enjoy the farmers market. This is a cool bbq joint. I knew it would be good walking in. The smoke smell was amazing. They have a good drink menu also. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started with the bacon burnt ends. They were delicious. We ordered the 2 meat meal with 2 sides. I got the fall off the bone ribs and my wife got the sausage. They were amazing. Cooked perfectly . We came in for our Friday date night which happens often at Bricks. Hubby had taco's which he loved. Which I could tell by the sounds he made throughout his meal. He even stated between bites, these are the best tacos. I enjoyed a rib eye and a salad. Steak was seasoned a cooked perfectly. We had great drinks. My friends and I visited Bricks for dinner and drinks, opting to sit at the bar. When we asked for menus, the bartender immediately informed us, "We're pretty much out of all our meats" due to busy brunches over the weekend. This caught us off guard--shouldn't a restaurant plan ahead and stock enough inventory for Saturday night dinner service, especially knowing brunch is popular? When my husband inquired about the Cuban sandwich, the bartender's response was dismissive: "I don't know about the food; I only work here." He eventually checked with the kitchen and confirmed they could still prepare the Cuban and brisket dinner. I ordered the brisket with potato salad and Mexican corn, while my husband chose the Cuban sandwich. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The brisket was dry, the potato salad lacked flavor, and the corn tasted like overcooked canned corn. My husband described his Cuban as the worst he's ever had. We dined at Bricks years ago and remembered the food being excellent, so this experience was a letdown. It seems the quality has significantly declined. Overall, a disappointing visit. read more

We celebrated our anniversary here and I have to say I really did not enjoy it. The atmosphere was great and the service was also good, No issues there. I just didn't enjoy the food as much as I really wanted to. The food comes out rather quickly so the waiting time is maybe 10 minutes. Ribs had a nice hint of sweetness and spice. And there's a nice selection of sides to choose from. Roasted brussel sprouts were caramelized and served in a cute little cast iron pan. Love their decor - high ceiling, industrial. The last booth by the bathroom is angled. I don't know they did that to shield the bathroom entrance or needed to be. In any case, it looks good. Two big open windows connect their outdoor area. The length of the bar looks out to an indoor garage. I particularly enjoyed their tiled tables: similar to my childhood home in Beijing, which was made by Chee Hsin Cement - I've a book on it, self published on Amazon. The service is good. The pretty young girl has red and purple nail polish - maybe I should go for the purple, to match my hair. The food is a little trying. The bacon burnt end is on the sweet side but tender. The brisket is thick and dry. With the butter knife, cutting became a chore. The ribs is a little softer than the brisket, but have it better many other places. The young girl, the maitre d' and a lady in black pants came over, asking how's everything - they certainly care. ... after dinner, we went to the opera house for Lucia di Lammermoor, which was a smooth sail. read more

We were staying nearby in Sarasota and walked over with our two kids close to closing time. Even though it was late, the staff took great care of us -- shoutout to our server who went above and beyond and literally chased us down the street to return a bag we had left behind. That kind of service deserves recognition. Food-wise, the burnt ends were the star -- we all tore them up and honestly should've ordered a second round. The ribs were just okay, and the brisket came out a bit too fatty for our taste. Still, the vibe was nice, and the place has potential. First, the staff was friendly & efficient. The food? EXCELLENT. I had the Bacon Burnt Ends & a baked potato. Husband had the brisket chili, brisket, sweet potato fries, & potato salad. The chili came with some great chips (he shared). The little cornbread was also good. The burnt ends were GREAT; husband really liked his brisket.
