I had a really great dining experience here with friends. This is a really cool backyard fee sort of place with kitschy yet unique options like a pick your flavor pickle stand. There is also outdoor patio style seating that isn't terribly common in the mid cities. The food is tasted, however if you are liking for a healthy option this may not be the place. The "salad" options are all covered in bacon, fired parmesan, etc. the burgers and soda are the show stoppers. I've never had such a flavorful burger at a chain in my life. You can choose one of the menu items or craft a burger to your taste at the moment. I'm partial to jalapeño, bacon, and spicy mustard on my burgers. This place can accommodate all of those and more. With options like fried pickles and fried eggs you can make it your own. There are bar taps and Tv's inside but bench style booths for the family too. Overall I think this place is really good. Just moved to the area and was told to check out Twisted Root. Place was really nice and clean. While the hamburger was flavorful, it wasn't worth the 20 minute wait. The gluten free bun was soft and didn't taste like a sponge so that was a plus. My boyfriend ordered the buffalo burger and it was really tiny. We questioned the $10 price tag on it. He also ordered fried pickles. Fat Elvis shake was good but I had huge chunks of bananas in mine so it was pretty hard to drink. All the pickle flavors were a plus! All in all, I'm glad we tried it but for the $30 price tag I'll stick to my true love Hopdoddy. read more

This place is amazing. Where else can you get homemade root beer and burgers other than beef on the menu? The Kevin Bacon was perfect. Lots of bacon and just the right amount of bleu cheese. This location probably has the WORST staff, I found a jet black hair (mine is blonde) in my food I told someone apart of the staff and he laughed in my face and said "ok? My hamburger was just a big soggy mess and it immediately disintegrated into a pile of mush. My chocolate shake was the product of chemical engineering where they used various artificial thickeners to imply that it was actually creamy. We went here for the first time on a Saturday at noon. It was not crowded at all which was a nice surprise. The burgers were delicious, and the fried pickles were awesome. They give you a TINY cup of chipotle ranch dip with the fried pickles - it was delicious, but when we asked for more they charged us for it. It was too pricey for a burger joint, but the food was really good. read more

Bison burger had good flavor and was cooked as requested, medium rare. I added mushrooms, grilled onions and guacamole. I could taste the garlic mushrooms and the grilled onions. Sadly there was so little guacamole that it was not worth the extra 99 cents. The fresh tomato and raw onion slice were both quite good. The bun was nothing special - soggy white bread. I also ordered a chocolate custard shake. Don't bother. A milk shake should be cold enough to cause brain freeze. This concoction was thick, but tasted like flavored cool whip, and like that strange chemical mix was not cold. Not worth the calories; I threw most of it away. read more

Yes!!! Four of us went tonight (Sat) @ 7PM-ish and l-o-v-e-d it! Of course there was a line - as there is at EVERY location. BECAUSE THE FOOD IS GREAT FOLKS! We have been to the Roanoke location, so folks who are whining about parking don't get it. If needed, all you might have to do at this Bedford location is park across the street or a few doors down. It's no further to walk than a Wal-Mart parking lot... And - we had absolutely no trouble finding a perfect place to sit. The line moved swiftly and efficiently. We only waited the expected time for our order. It was hot, fresh and cooked just exactly as stated - "Medium Well unless you tell us". I had the Frito Bandito but switched out the cheese and it was perfect. Onion Strings were cooked to perfection. Watermelon Tea was mixed great - not too sweet, but just right. Pickled onions on the salad were really tasty. After dinner, 2 of us decided to try one of the homemade custard shakes. They customized it to a 1/2 brownie 1/2 cookie dough with no problem at all. We got it in no time... And it was SOOOO good!! I will admit that this location is a bit smaller than the others. My only suggestion to folks is that you might consider your options if the weather is not good. There is a lot of outside seating here, so bad weather will push everyone inside, making it a longer wait time. Otherwise, this is one of the best burger spots in the area - by far. Place was okay, just overpriced and not mind blowingly good for the cost. I've had better burgers at Five Guys for way cheaper. However points to them for their game meats and varied pickle flavors, it's nice to go to a place that offers different choices. We had 2 buffalo burgers and an order of chicken nuggets for the little one, 3 sodas and it was almost $50.00. A bit much for burgers, especially ones that don't knock your socks off. Bottom line, at least in our experience & opinion, although the price stung, we're glad we went once but not sure we'll go back. read more

Love this place. It's a little pricey but the food is great and comes out quickly even on a busy night. Loved the sweet potato chips and the fried pickles. I try to have a different burger every time I go and I've never been disappointed with any of them. Would have given this place 5 stars but the parking lot situation is absolutely horrible. It's pretty tiny so if you go on a Friday or Saturday night just expect to park in the strip mall parking lot behind the building. It's not a far walk or anything, don't worry :) read more

The food is decent and I love it when they have the Burnt Root Bear on tap! Two star rating is for some of the staff they put on the register....I don't know if they are instructed to do so, but they seem so disinterested in taking orders. I don't know about anybody else, but for what they charge for burgers and fries, a little friendliness and perhaps (and I know this may be too much to ask for) a "hello" would be nice. Instead, they girl will just look at you until it becomes awkward and tell her what you want. Then, (and this is the kicker!) there is actually a tip section when you pay for your food! Heard alot about Twisted Root so I thought I'd try it out. Liked the variety and their homemade rootbeer. But $30 for burgers fries and a drinks for me and my girlfriend was way too much. Especially when burgers had no flavor and were small. Buns also did not hold up. I can think several places with better burgers at better prices. read more

This place never gets old. The burger is great and the fried foods are a great supplement. The prices are a little on the high side though. The burger is large enough to split and be full. Plus you can splurge on an extra side of fried green beans or sweet potato chips. read more
